I paid off my Lightstream loan # *******, on December 28, 2022 with a copy of the cashed registered check, by lightstream. I have made numerous communication by email, and phone to get my refund. As of January 14, 2023, I still have not received my refund, but plenty of excuse but no money. One such excuse is in 10 days after receiving your pay off, you will receive your refund "missed that deadline.

Recently set up a personal loan through lightstream. The website asked how i wanted to receive the funding. I requested to have the funds credited to my account via a wire. On the next page, the system askes if I wanted to use the same banking information for the auto debit as well (made no mention of it being an ach or that i needed to ensure the information was for ach payments). I agreed to have the same account used for the auto payments (was impressed that lightsream was willing to do the reverse wires for the payments). I then received an email 3 days after the paymrnt was due advising the payment did not go through due to a R13 error. The message also stated my loan was getting sent to collections. Extremely frustrated with this (my account has over 60k available) I called the collections team to see what the issue was. The rep advised he wasn't sure and that the info was the same from when I received the wire (which cleared). At this point I asked the rep to clarify how the payment was being debited (via reverse wire or ach debit). He advised it would be an ach debit, at this point he realized the system mad an error in selecting my wire details for the ach payment. He advised contacting lightstream service to rectify. I corrected the account info and submitted a new payment. I then contacted customer support to have the error (caused by their systems) rectified and the interest charges reimbursed. I spoke with a manager/supervisor by the name of **** (wouldn't provide additonal identifying information). **** attempted to tell me lies about the way payments are processed. After catching her in her 2nd or 3rd lie I advised I needed to speak with her supervisor as I was unsatisfied with the incorrect/false information and wanted to file a formal complaint against her. She advised she will request I get a call back. Instead of trying to rectify the issue **** tried to mislead me and tell outright lies about banking systems and the way payments are processed.

PLEASE RE SUBIT APPLICATION USING EQUIFAX AND NOT TRANSUNION, BETTER YET HAVE TRANSUNION LLC REMOVE SECURITY FREEZES FROM BOTH OF OUR CREDIT FILES. OR FACE CLASS ACTION LITIGATION AND FACE FIRST DEGREE CHARGES FOR BREAKING ******************* ACT.

      Business response

      02/13/2023

We are unable to re-activate a declined application. If there is a freeze on your credit bureaus, you would need to contact the credit bureaus directly to have the freeze removed prior to submitting a new application. Please note, we pull credit history from TransUnion only, which is a hard inquiry.

I applied through the light stream website on 10/17. The bank requested additional documents i.e. 1040's and 1120's along with my assets which I provided the same day. Note, my credit score of 807, per Light stream, was provided after I complete the application. However, I was sent a denial letter based on debt owed, debt to income and unable to verify income or assets which are all incorrect. Keep in mind I have documented over 150k in liquid assets and requested a car loan. My DTI is currently *****% with includes my current debt and purposed new loan. When I reached out I got transferred around three times before speaking with an actual underwriter. This was in large part to the prior two employees not understanding basic math and self employed income calculation. Full disclosure I own several companies including a mid-sized mortgage company so I know how to calculate DTI, debt to income, ratio and ability to repay otherwise I wouldn't have wasted my time applying. Apparently per this underwriter at Light Stream they do not consider capital gains or any business income in qualifying. Not only does that not make sense its not logical when qualifying for loans. Especially when income flows from 1120's and 1065's to your 1040's but apparently Light stream doesn't review income the same way as BOA, Chase, ***** or any bank / lender on this plant. If that is the case just have a big disclaimer against any business owner applying for any loans on your site. Clearly say you only want W2 employees applying and if you do not have W2's do not apply otherwise you will be wasting your time and receive a hard inquiry on your credit for no reason. The company needs to get qualified underwriters to review income properly or provide a big disclaimer before self employed borrowers apply.

LightStream loans are originated to individuals. While our loans may be used for business purposes and we accept self-employed income sources, approval is based on the individuals profile. Finally,it should be noted again that each individual profile is different and that we make our credit decision based on the specific reporting of the individuals current profile.

I am on the national, permanent Do Not Mail list, but just received a snail mail offer from LightStream yesterday. On the paper, there is no mention of opting out, and there is nothing to be found online either. It seems my only option is to call Truist. I think it is ridiculous that a company can bypass my request for no mail and also offer no way to opt out. As an aside, I haven't had an account with LightStream in literally years, and am unsure why they think it is okay to start sending me mail...

I was contacted by this company with a personal loan offer. This company pulled my consumer report causing my score to drop 5 points just to wrongfully, unlawfully & illegally denied my credit application. I have reason to believe and do so believe this action was willful and intentional. If I don't receive remedy quickly I will escalate this to small claims and federal court.

      Dear ******************,

Your BBB complaint was received and it appears you spoke to our office on 9/27/2022 to discuss your application, and an internal complaint was filed on your behalf.  After that discussion, a re-review of the application took place on 9/28/2022 and you spoke to our Underwriting manger regarding the decision.  Our Underwriting manager attempted to contact you again on 9/30/2022, but had to leave a message.  As of 11/28/2022, there hasn't been a return call to our office.

      Thank you,

      LightStream
