I had such high hopes for GoShare. I felt confident at the time that this company would be a great resource. After months of delays and an email advising me that my concerns with having to pay money and then be made to wait as they process "hundreds daily", I decided to come to BBB to check on GoShare. Of course, checking before investing money and time would have been helpful. It is clear to me that my, very mild cause for frustration, concern compared to other posts here, was well founded. What stands out to me most is their culture. The immediate defensivness, lack of empathy, and the lecturing of customers makes it brightly clear that those running this company are amatures trying to run a business. With responses such as those I have read here on BBB, you can tell they are less driven by a desire to succeed and driven more by machismo and a limited ability in understanding why they wrong. I see this so much these days. With so many diving into business ownership. In such, these people tend to be over confident and have intellectual ceiling -- self imposed at times by their inability to see beyond their ego and fight response. Falsley seeing themselves as big fish.

Unfortunately, ****** email and phone number must be fake because they are not in the GoShare system. Plus based on his email I can't tell whether he is a driver or a customer. In addition with just X has his last name, I could not find an account.  Hopefully **** will find a company that he feels worthy of his business in the future.

After I applied for becoming a driver with GoShare, following all the preliminary guidlines and needed documentations they asked for, bow they're asking for a notarized document that is not mentioned in the orientation and not mentioned on their website, i went back and forth with 2 of their onboarding team (*** ******* and then her superior ******) they failed to respond to my last email leaving me hanging for a week with no answer frlm their end knowing that they are in the wrong, and they also dont want to reimburse the background fee i had paid since it was on them to take responsibility for the missing information from their orientation, this is an apl where they have mo regards to anyone. Unprofessional and misguiding

      Business Response

      Date: 12/11/2024

Hi *******. You are not the owner of the vehicle you are wanting to use for GoShare. Therefore we need the signed document we have advised you of multiple times from the vehicle owner. The cost of the background check is not refunded because it cost GoShare to run the background check. If you can get the owner to provide the required document, then we can move forward.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 12/11/2024

It has been over a week since my last email, and I have not received a response, which I find unprofessional.

To clarify, I am not the vehicle owner; my brother is. Your concern regarding permission to use the vehicle is already addressed, as the insurance policy clearly shows that I am added to the policy with my brothers approval. This should be sufficient proof of authorization.

Despite this, you continue to request additional documentation that was never outlined during the orientation process. While your representative claims otherwise, these requirements were not communicated upfront, which creates unnecessary confusion and inconvenience.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/12/2024

Thanks for your example. We will consider this for future policy changes. Right now though, the policy does stand that we will need the required document.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 12/16/2024

Im not sure what example youre referencing, and whether you use it as a later reference isnt my concern. My main issue is that your policy does not specifically mention requiring a notarized document, with emphasis on notarization. Your stated concern is verifying authorization from the vehicles owner for its use, which is already fulfilled by the insurance documentation. Additionally, the owner himself offered to send you an emailed confirmation to satisfy this requirement.

To be clear, I dont need to be part of your platform as much as you need drivers. Without delivery drivers, there are no deliveries, and your apps growth and net worth depend on its users. Ultimately, this is more of a loss for you than it is for me.

The app for GoShare doesnt function well and even though I entered payment and hit book delivery the company did not go forward with the delivery. I had 2 pallets of live sod to be delivered from a nursery to my home, and delays decrease the chances of a live delivery. The app doesnt help with ordering the proper truck, so, while I originally booked a truck for $90, it ended up costing $300. I was scrambling when the driver didnt show up and I was desperate. I used the chat function on the app and went forward with the service at the higher price due to time constraints. I told the customer service agent that the nursery closed at 5:00 and she said the driver would pick up and deliver to me that day. Minutes later, I got the confirmation that included the driver contact information and I called to verify that he would make it to the nursery before closing time (in 45 minutes). He told me he was 90 minutes from the pickup location and had no chance to make it on time. Why would a logistics company not verify this ahead of time? He arrived hours later than expected the next day and when it was time to unload, he found the pallet **** (that I paid extra for) would not fit under the pallets and we had to unload thousands of pounds of sod by hand. This was a long, laborious process for me and my sons. It exhausted us and put us way behind our schedule to put the live sod on the yard while the health of the grass deteriorated. I am disappointed that the original delivery wasnt confirmed, even though they took my credit card information, they failed to follow up with me. They dont give proper guidance on what would be needed for the project, adding $210 to the cost. They dont verify that the driver would be able to make the delivery as scheduled, they dont provide proper equipment for the job.

      Date: 12/09/2024

Hi ****. I apologize you had issues with your delivery but glad your sod was finally delivered.  Definitely scheduling 45 minutes before the store closes will be an issue. Hopefully we can assist you in the future.

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally dispute the recent charge for the moving service provided on 11/18/2024, under project number [608640]. While I appreciate the efforts of your team, I believe the charge is not justified due to significant issues related to the level of professional assistance provided during the job. As per your values, I was expecting a full professional service with adequate help throughout the entire process. However, the helper assigned to job was severely exhausted after the initial load-up, which had a direct impact on the quality and efficiency of the service. The load-up process took approximately 40 minutes, but the unloading, which included stairs, took over 3 hours due to the lack of adequate support and assistance. No travel included! The driver informed me that his helper was having a difficult time due to the stairs, we both agreed for him to end his assignment. I contacted support immediately! At no point was there an offer of additional help. I was told to email support. As a result, I have been getting demands from this company for a payment for the additional time of the move. Given the circumstances and the discrepancy in service time, I feel the charges applied do not reflect the level of service I received. I am requesting a reduction or adjustment to the final charge to account for the significant underperformance of the service. Additionally, and most importantly, I must express that I have attempted to call multiple times, but it appears I have been blocked from contacting this company after speaking with ******. I am receiving the message "you are not allowed to call this number!" I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and would be happy to provide any additional details or discuss this further if necessary. You can reach me at [email protected] for any clarification. Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to a fair resolution. Sincerely, ******* ******

HI *******. I'm sure the drivers were exhausted since there were 4 flights of stairs and no elevator. The extra time happened because of the flights of stairs. I see a note about a family member arriving and wanting to load a couch into his pickup. When you booked the project the estimated time it would take was 89 minutes. Because of the amount of cargo and the flights of stairs, it took much longer.  You could have requested an additional helper (at an additional cost). In this case though, the main driver did stay almost 3 hours causing the valid overtime. You were given a discount, however we cannot clear all the overtime because the driver does need to be paid for the work he did.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 12/03/2024

Thank you for your response. In correction to your point, there were 3 flights of stairs and the building does have an elevator. Extended breaks during a job is not professional. Your company has failed to provide adequate help for the job. The driver went up and down those stairs without a break or a problem. Your company policy states that you all provide professional moving help which is not true at all. Your movers asked me to change my requested arrival time then arrived 30 minutes late.

Your lack of value caused an extended time period for my project and after reaching out you all still failed to provide the proper professional help.

Can you also address the fact that you all have blocked me from calling customer service to speak to someone in regards to this issue?

My experience with your company is unprofessional and represents false advertisement.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/03/2024

Good morning. Per the GoShare driver, you said the elevator was not working. As far as breaks, Customer Service has provided a discount on the order. And as I said you could have paid for additional help based on the amount cargo you were wanting to move if you didn't have help from family or friends.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 12/18/2024

As I stated, I am an experienced mover. It never has or will take more than 2 people for a light load as this. As I said, I am still blocked from taking care of the balance on my account. From beginning til now you offer poor customer service. Should I take a legal route?

This company is scamming people. On November 7th, 2024 I scheduled a pickup of furniture to be picked up from a store at 1pm and delivered to my home within 1hr. The approximate distance in driving from the store to my home is about 9-10minutes. I was quoted a price for the delivery and paid the amount of $164. The day of the delivery I was contacted almost 1 hr after the scheduled delivery time at approximately 1:50pm by the driver saying they had gotten to the store and the item they were picking up was damaged while moving it into their truck. Once I reviewed the damaged and accepted a discount from the store because the drivers kept blaming the store the store just assumed responsibility. This in total was about 15-20minutes. From pickup to deliver to my home was no more than an hour from the moment the drivers reached the store. After the item was delivered the next day I was charged $300 on my credit that was on file because of "overtime" I contacted the company and asked to see some sort of itemized timestamp of how they are charging overtime but they refuse to send any sort of receipt. And the app that they use to schedule the delivery shows no times at all. All I have to go by is the call made to me by the driver saying they arrived at the store which was 1:50pm and the video of arrival to my home at 2:40pm. Somehow they decided to charge overtime when it was within the hour of delivery. The company will not show any kind of documentation or proof. It's insane that they can get away with this and they should be shut down as there is no regulation here. They can give the price of $164 but then claim an exorbitant amount of money saying it is $300 of overtime fees without showing proof. I'm in utter shock they can still be in business.

Hi *******.  I apologize you didn't receive the email from ***************** Here is the information they sent over:

"Hi *******, Both of the delivery pros started their timers at 1:31pm. You were not billed for any time before 1:31pm. However, as you requested for your husband to come to the store in person to access the damage, the drivers' timers were running at that point, and were not paused during the time it took for your husband to travel to the store, nor during his assessment of the damages. The project was likely to exceed the estimated delivery time, and drivers explained to your husband that while they were waiting to get everything sorted out, the clock was still running. I hope that clears up any confusion. I'm sorry that the drivers arrived late, but you were not charged for any time before their arrival, only for their time after their arrival."

When you booked the project, the app expected the project would take between ***** minutes to complete.  The total time was 101 minutes. The drivers both arrived and started their time around 1:30 and finished a little after 3:00.

I have been charge cancellation fees without knowledge after working countless hours and putting gas in my truck. The money Ive worked. They have stole $180 and called it cancellation fees. I paid $30 for background check and I have not made the money that this app claims theyve charged me for cancellation fees and charged me amount of money that I will have to pay taxes on simply not making the money they never told me the amount of cancellation fee per time. It was taken on four accounts as they stolen the money and not told me about it. Every time I work I must put gas in my truck. I also pay insurance for my truck. I also have to get oil changes and theres tires rotation as well as maintenance. This all cost money. The wages are very low. The state of New York minimum wage is nowhere near to the hours that I put in working for ***** for the return that I have gotten. Now I owe taxes to the state for cancellation fees for simply clicking a button on application. When a robot is the one doing the job how will I charge the amount of money for a cancellation fee? This company is all around unfair. New York State should ban them immediately from allowing them to collect money off of the people. So now I am in debt for go share.

I was applying to work to drive for them. And as part of the process they did state that the background chack can cost anywhere from $49- $150 so i get to the checkout and it says $49 so im thinking ok thats it thats all im going to be charged.. was i wrong, they first charged me the $49 then in a seperate transaction they charged me $105 with no prior notice of the second transaction i only came across it when i saw a transaction for $105 that had no information about the company until i called my bank and they told me it was goshare. What they are doing is incredibly deceptive. And the fact it was an additional transaction. And not just one transaction, they didnt get authorization from me for a second transaction. I live chatted with the company and the person i spoke with all they did was send me a picture of the terms where it said it could charge from anywhere in that range. It didnt say you will be charged a seperate transaction after you made the payment it stated at checkout.

Hi ******. I apologize it wasn't clear enough about the extra charges for ********. I see you currently live in *********  Our website has a page dedicated specifically for background checks, as well as the **** and the page where you are filling out your payment information for the background check.  Here is the main information:

The background check fee is $49, or $154 if you have ever lived, worked, or received a citation in the state of ********. In 2019, New York raised the prices of records requests in their state. Unfortunately, the high cost of conducting a background check in the state of ******** requires us to charge a higher amount if you are a current or past resident of the state. The background check fee is non-refundable.

      *********************************************************************************************

I hope this helps clarify the charges.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 10/22/2024

i understand the fee can be either $49 or $150 that doesnt explain why at checkout the amount would still be $49 and have people believing they are only paying $49. If this is predetermined then the checkout amount should reflect the accurate cost if its a by state thing the price should be easy to calculate at checout. Not that you still charge the $49 at checkout. And then later on, unknowing to the consumer they are then charged additionally. You see how this is misleading? You have the consumer believing they are paying the amount at checkout and then suddenly without any more notice they are charged even more.

I had a background check done by GoShare and was prompted to pay $25 at payment which they did take from my account. I even have the email they sent to tell me its $25 for payment. I saw an additional charge for $105 days after. When I reached out they told me that if I have lived, worked or got a violation in the state of ******** I was charged the extra $105. I have explained to them that I have never lived, worked or gotten a violation in the state of ******** in my entire life. Im not associated with that state in anyway but they keep telling me I have. Nothing even showed on the background check that I have any association with the state of ******** I even called Checkr and they have confirmed that nothing in my background check stated I have any records in ******** so I need my $105 refund.

I even contacted Checkr just to make sure and nothing about ******** was on my records.

A NY state/county search was run based on the information he provided; we can confirm no hits/charges so the *** is clear, but a NY search was run. GoShare is charged for the New York search as detailed in the Driver FAQ online and therefore we charge the Driver.

I would like to be provided with what information prompted that search because I have not entered nothing about New York cause I have nothing to enter.

On April 26th,2024, I applied to work as a gig worker, they claimed there was work in my area. So I paid them $50 for a background check. Finally July 11th, got approved to start work. I was (and still am) logged in their system for "available to work" not one gig or "job" has been available! There's obviously ZERO work for *********, **. On July 20th contacted customer service requesting for a refund on the background check and explain to them just as I explained to you that they're apparently is no work in my area and they were not allowed to even accept my money as other companies won't accept your money if there is no work in your area. They can put you on a waiting list until they're established in your area but they do not claim that there is work when clearly there is no work. For 2 days I tried to make contact with them spoke with robot after robot via email still refusing to give my money back and not one time has there been any work in my area. I would like my $50 back that was very misleading and they made me believe that I was going to be working and making all kinds of money etc etc when clearly there is no chance to make money with them and therefore I want my $50 refunded. Thank you!

      Hi Amber,

Unfortunately the background check fee is not refundable. You can read more ***************************************************************************************************; Also I do see projects that didn't get accepted by drivers in the ************** area in the past 4 weeks.  If you are not getting notifications, I recommend clearing your app cache (different for every phone), logging out and back in.

Goshare's response is unacceptable and false. I would love to see proof that there has been 4 drivers that accepted work in "**************" area. They do NOT have work here! They shouldn't have  charged me for a background check, pretty simple. Any other gig work companies do not let that happen. I will see them in court if they can't refund $50 dollars.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to refund the background check. As it says **************************************************************************************************; and on the website when the potential driver is entering their credit card information to pay for the background check, the fee is non-refundable. We cannot comment on other gig companies. This is GoShare's policy which is clearly documented.

GoShare has mislead and scammed me. There is no work in my area therefore should NOT have charged me $50. They are a scam and should be stopped. They mislead and should just refund my money and be over this. Goes to show you how they are not human.
