On April 1st I went to see the stylist I booked with for my hair appt. Upon arriving I was informed by this stylist that because StyleSeat had implemented a $40 new client free that is charged to the sytlist and she could not find a way around being charged the fee, she would not continue with my appointment because this fee was unacceptable to her. I had no way to cancel the appt. on my end at that point on styleseat and she also stated that she had no way to do so on her end either. She stated that she sent stylseat a message informing them of the situation and asking them that I be refunded the charges. I also sent a message while still at the Salon to stylseat informing them that I had been refused the appointment and did not want to be charged for a service I did not receive. Later that day I received an email that stated I was charged $157.60 for the appointment. Since then I have been in communication via email with "*****" on the compliance team and was told this issue was being researched. When I asked what a timeline would be for a resolution, I was told no timeline could be provided. It is absolutely unacceptable to me that I have been charged $157.60 for a service I did not receive by no fault of my own. I need my account to be immediately refunded as this is very problematic behavior from any business as well as the stylist.Initial Complaint

I've been using StyleSeat since 2021. Lately, their business practices have been very shady. They favor people who pay them for advertisement and steal clients from people who recommend their services. I've noticed them getting worse as time goes on. Someone told me that my schedule was blocked off even though it wasn't. Someone requested a premium appointment from me and I never received the notification until weeks later. They've consistently hidden my profile in the search even when my profile matched the qualifications to be displayed. I'm disappointed, there's no loyalty to the ones that choose to use their platform for growth. When I first started using their platform, they were literally taking hundreds of dollars from me just to advertise my page under the basic (FREE) plan.Initial Complaint

I booked an appointment on StyleSeat for August 26, 2024. After confirming the appointment, the stylist requested that I pay in cash, despite my having already set up payment through ****** via the StyleSeat app. I informed her that I had indeed paid through ******. The stylist's profile did not indicate that she only accepts cash. Since she insisted on cash payment, I politely asked her to cancel the appointment. However, she charged me a late cancellation fee, even though the issue stemmed from her failure to disclose her cash-only policy after my confirmation. I reached out to StyleSeat on August 26, 2024, to request a reversal of the payment. I followed up multiple times for updates, but all I received was a response stating that it was an ongoing investigation, despite providing ample information and time for them to respond. Additionally, I reported the stylist for claiming to accept *** in exchange for services, but she continues to have access to the platform.Initial Complaint

On October 17, 2024, I scheduled face painting service for October 25, 2024 for my 11-year-old daughters middle school dance. The stylist immediately texted me, stating it would be nearly double the cost that they had listed on the app for prices. I told her I could not afford to pay that much so we both agreed that I would cancel the appointment. Therefore, the day I made the appointment is the day it was canceled with the stylist because the app did not list the correct prices. On October 25th, I received a reminder text message from the app of my appointment. needed the stylist or I apparently canceled the appointment with StyleSeat, I thought, canceling with stylist counted as canceling. I had not canceled on the app only with the stylist. I immediately canceled within five hours of the appointment, but I was charged a late fee. Im a reasonable person. I understand the late fee because I didnt cancel it on the app, even though I canceled with the stylist with an hours of making the appointment and actually seven days before the appointment. I used Klarna in the original app purchase. I found out from ****** as I was being charged for the service through StyleSeat, even though I never received the service and canceled it. Klarna shared in the attached email that style seat did not inform them that I had canceled the appointment. Klarna received my evidence, but said because StyleSeat did not respond that I had canceled the appointment that I was continually being charged. Style seat dishonestly represented the situation despite my child never getting the service.Initial Complaint

I made an appointment with a new stylist on Styleseat, and they were offering a new client promotion for that stylist at 15% off total. The original amount was $150 for the services requested, with promotion $127.50. I paid the booking fee of $2.35, made the appointment. The next day I received a notification from Styleseat stating that the stylist didn't confirm the appointment, and to reschedule, which I did. However, it didn't reapply the promotion. I reached out to the business, requesting the promotion, which told I will now have to find another stylist, because the system no longer recognized me as new customer for that stylist, for my first upcoming appointment. Which doesn't make sense, because I haven't even had my appointment yet. The promotions offer is just a false advertisement to "steer" people to book, an automatic email will be sent stating that the stylist hasn't confirmed, reschedule, and you loose the promotion offer. Been a hairstylist on styleseat since 2014. Last 5 years has been horrible, but i am trapped because I've built up my reviews and would have to start over if I left Recently I was changed from basic to premium without wanting that...contacted customer service and was told it's irreverent. Also, for about 3 months they were intentionally blocking my availability to where clients weren't able to book, which caused me about 7k in bookings; I contacted customer service AGAIN and the *** was very inexpensive and incompetent, she pretending not to know what I was talking about even when I emailed screenshots as proof....I'm just so sad that I'm being treated like this after being with them for over 10 yearsBusiness Response

On February 26, 2025, I received a hair styling service from a stylist booked through the StyleSeat platform. I paid $120 for this service. During the appointment, the stylist negligently burned my neck with a curling iron, causing physical injury.Following the incident, the stylist:Did not provide any first aid for the burn,Did not apologize or acknowledge the injury,Made no offer of compensation or remediation,Proceeded to complete the service as if nothing serious had happened I was charged the full service fee while the appointment was still in progress, despite sustaining an ********* Attempts to Resolve This Issue:I contacted StyleSeat customer service to report the incident and request a refund StyleSeat representatives informed me they "do not offer refunds" and stated only the stylist could refund **** then contacted the stylist who offered to refund only $30, claiming this was all she received from StyleSeat after their commission.When I followed up with StyleSeat, they told me to "accept the generous offer that the stylist has given me"My Desired Resolution:I am requesting a full refund of $120 for a service that resulted in physical injury. StyleSeat's response has been unprofessional and demonstrates a concerning lack of accountability for the safety of consumers using their *********** a marketplace that profits from connecting clients with service providers, StyleSeat has a responsibility to ensure basic safety standards and appropriate responses when incidents occur. I made an appointment on 03/01/25 for 03/2/2025. On the website the picture are in a professional setting . When i arrived there on the date of service it was an apartment and i knocked on the door there was a terrible smell coming from the apartment also there was a male in the apartment that made me and my three children uncomfortable my children were afraid. I immediately cancel the service and informed her the reason. this was a verbal cancellation. This was do to it was already time for that appointment the other two I was able to go on the sight and cancel. On December 21st, I had a hair appointment with Nae ****** that quickly became one of the worst experiences Ive ever had. She arrived 15 minutes late, mentioning she wasnt feeling well. After washing my hair, she left me sitting with wet hair in the cold shop for 30 minutes without informing me, choosing to warm up in her car instead.Despite offering to reschedule, she insisted on finishing the appointment, claiming she had high-risk anemia and couldnt tolerate the cold. To accommodate her, I agreed to finish the appointment at her house an uncomfortable situation I shouldnt have been placed in.The installation took five hours, and she refused to style the hair I had purchased even though I asked weeks prior which hair to buy. The sew-in only lasted seven days before unraveling due to poor installation.She offered a free reinstall to make up for the poor service, so I purchased $170 worth of high-quality hair that she recommended. I reached out multiple times to confirm the appointment, but my messages were ignored. On the day of the reinstall, she never showed up and never apologized. The only time she responded was after I disputed the charge through StyleSeat.I reached out to the shop owner with no response. Nae ****** later claimed she couldnt access her phone, but that doesnt excuse the lack of communication.I understand health struggles, but if shes unable to fulfill appointments, she shouldnt be booking clients. This experience left me feeling scammed and disrespected. I would never dispute a charge without reason. My bank was helpful in resolving the issue, but I believe her StyleSeat account should be suspended until shes fit to provide quality service.Business Response
