1 starOur room was pulling in fumes from the house. My wife got a migraine and Airbnb requires documentation for her to prove she was telling the truth. Genuinely do not care about customers. Took our money and forced us to book elsewhere.Review fromKristine N

1 starAirbnb allowed a host who had breached privacy rules cancel my reservation. I had proof she invaded my privacy and that she lied about house rules that she claimed I didn't follow (she claimed I brought a pet with no permission, but I had airbnb message proof thata she approved thw pet in advance). After she canceled my stay she told airbnb I violated privacy policies, and even though I proved that she did, they canceled my account. ********************** has gone to the toilet.Review fromShane C

1 starDuring a recent Airbnb stay in *********, *****, my wife and I discovered undisclosed surveillance cameras inside the apartmentspecifically in the living/sleeping areas and near the bathroom. The listing stated there were no cameras. When we confronted the host, she admitted they were active and we could not disable or cover them.We left the property early due to this serious invasion of privacy and reported it to Airbnb immediately. The apartment was also unsanitary, with cockroaches, mold in the coffee maker, missing amenities, and no heat in most rooms. Despite these issues, we were later charged an additional $1,100on top of the $2,000 already paid.We provided Airbnb with:Photo/video evidence of the cameras Screenshots of the listing Host messages confirming their presence Airbnbs Senior Case Manager closed the case, claiming it was up to the host to refund, ignoring their own policies and the applicable laws, including GDPR and Spanish Penal Code Article 197.We are now filing:A criminal complaint in ***** A GDPR violation complaint with the ********************************* Case ID: ********* / Reservation: HM9XN4ZD8R Airbnbs response was unacceptable. Theyve failed to act on a clear safety and legal violation, and we are requesting formal review and accountability.Review fromAlisha S

1 starI would put a zero state review if I could. My parents spent over 2k on a cabin in innsbrook MO for the week. The company that posted the cabin for rental on Airbnb took their money a month before we were even set to stay (no biggie my parents had it already). My parents also paid for the additional insurance that in case anything happened we could cancel up to the day of and get a full refund. Turns out that is a lie and they would only refund you maybe half. We get to the cabin and it is filthy! The bed my parents had to sleep on was broken and stained, my cousins bed was also stained, the bunks for myself and my children were broken on the top bunks, the decking had huge holes in it, the hot tub was so gross we didnt get to use it, there isnt any life vests to use the kayaks (huge safety issue), the **** couldnt regulate itself so it was either always too hot or freezing, the towels were put up wet, the washer had mold in it and lastly the place had a major bug issue. They were what we believe to be a water bug however they also resembled cockroaches but were not in the kitchen. We were forced to stay because Airbnb would not return a ***** of the over 2k back to my parents and the only thing the owners returned was the ridiculous cleaning fee of $250. My parents spent over $100 on cleaning supplies and another over $100 on mattress pads, pillows, and blankets. DO NOT STAY IN INNSBROOK MO AND DO NOT STAY WITH AIRBNB!Review fromLaurel P

1 starAirBnB unceremoniously ruined my livelihood. Atrocious host support and appeal process. Last April, I took over ownership and self property management for a little beach condo in ***********. Things were going great, had lots of early bookings for the busy summer season and excellent reviews established right out of the gate until May when I got an email from AirBnB saying I was in violation of their policies, but did not specify which, and that my listing was frozen for any new bookings and any existing bookings after June would be cancelled when the listing would be taken down all together. There was a link for an appeals process, which was very basic, so I figured I could initiate an appeal and have the opportunity to discuss and get it sorted, given the clear mistake. As it turns out, they have you submit documentation solely on line and refused all requests (and subsequent desperate pleas) to discuss following submission. I didnt even know what the issue was so I sent a summary about how I was the new owner and property manager effective April 1 and I sent a screen shot of an email from the former property manager to the former owner (my mother in law) confirming she would roll off and would not be engaged by me /my husband as the new owners. I figured there would be some discussion and this would be resolved given the logic and obvious mistake, but I received an email saying from my appeal reviewer saying that my appeal had been denied, my listing would be removed as prev. indicated, and no further appeals or communications would be considered. I begged the reviewer for more consideration and wrote to corporate with my pleas for reconsideration, no responses from either. I lost all of my bookings for the rest of the busiest season and had to rebuild my host reputation from scratch through other channels, none of which have garnered the kind of bookings w AirBB. I have been losing money ever since and am coming to BBB as a last ditch effort. Help!Review fromJames W

1 starI booked an Airbnb stay expecting a comfortable and enjoyable experience, but what I got was the complete oppositea night of inconvenience, frustration, and safety concerns. After arriving at the property, I quickly realized that the conditions were unacceptable. Due to a meth lab investigation in the building, I was forced to spend a large portion of the night outside, ultimately only getting two hours of sleep before having to leave the property entirely.Despite my efforts to resolve the situation, I was met with nothing but resistance from both the host and Airbnbs customer service. The host refused to engage in any meaningful discussion and eventually blocked me. When I escalated the issue to Airbnb, I was repeatedly told that nothing could be done. I was contacted late at night by a customer service representative who continuously interrupted me as I tried to explain my situation. When I understandably became frustrated, she put me on hold just to silence me. After enduring this poor treatment, I was initially offered a mere $200 as a courtesy despite the fact that I paid over $600 for this ************* this point, my issue is no longer just about the moneyits about principle. Airbnb has demonstrated a complete lack of accountability, customer care, and basic professionalism. The response I received was dismissive and filled with standard corporate language designed to make me give up and go away. It is unacceptable that a company of this size refuses to stand by its customers when things go wrong.I strongly advise anyone considering an Airbnb stay to think twice. If something goes wrong, dont expect help from customer service. If ********************** truly values its guests, they need to rethink their policies, enforce better standards for hosts, and train their representatives to actually listen and resolve issues rather than push customers away.Review fromSherry M

1 star?????? to Good morning *****, first allow me through opportunity for the use of your lovely home. It was truly a Blessing for my family and I to be able to come together under our heartfelt loss of my Brother. Your space brought us closer together. But, I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, even though we were all able to reside together, I was extremely disappointed at the house keeping. First, coming in, the grass was not cut, #2. The carpet had not been shampooed. #3. The fact that there was no electricity in the kitchen and the oven was not working. I thank you for the repairman bringing out the lamps, but we needed to use the kitchen and it was a grave inconvenience. #4. There were ROACHES, coming out of the side of the stoves as I was cooking and one even got on the topside of my casserole as My Son quickly removed the pan and I caught and smashed keeping the ***** from getting onto my food. #5. The pump on the pool did not work. #6. THE OVEN, HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED AND WHEN I OPENED THE OVEN, IT HAD BURNT ON SPILLS, THAT HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED UP FROM THE PREVIOUS USERS. So, please believe me, it PAINS me to be the bearer of bad news. But this is totally understandable. My request to you is, to get a new management company and to give me an amicable refund. I chose your home because of your great reviews, but I will not be posting on your review page, because I would not want to slander your reviews. But I do request a substantial refund. I am truly sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but before you rent to another family I would address these hurtful issues. Respectfully submitted,Councilwoman ***** *****, City of ******Review fromBreanna P

1 starAirbnb requires its guests to adhere to its policies, yet it appears that both the platform and its hosts are permitted to breach these policies without consequence. They seemingly evade accountability by outsourcing their customer support department, where representatives are specifically trained on scripted responses and how to handle various issues. Recently, we left a negative review for a property we stayed at. In response, the host altered their previous positive 5-star review of us as guests and posted a new review containing biased language, inauthentic statements, and clear defamatory remarks. Not only was this negative review directed at us, but it was also displayed on the profiles of all other guests who had no involvement in the original review. Despite reaching out to Airbnb to address this issue, we were informed that the host's actions did not violate Airbnb's policies, and as a result, no further action will be taken. I have escalated the matter through every available channel, but Airbnb appears to be taking the longest route possible, seemingly avoiding direct involvement from those with the authority to address potential legal concerns.
