    I go to southern CA for the winter and have used the digital Orange County Register for my news. I cancelled my subscription by "unsubscribe from this email" at the bottom of the email. The last copy I got was on April 27, 2024. I just looked at my credit card bill and noticed that I have been charged again for the subscription (on Sept 19, 2024). I looked back through my statements and saw that the Register has been billing me since May 3, 2024 for a total of 6 more ******** of $18.00. I called customer service who INFORMED me that until one TELEPHONES customer service to cancel the subscription, the subscription is ACTIVE. There is no indication on the email/digital copy that "unsubscribe from this email" does not cancel the subscription! I have, however, not gotten a copy of the news/email since April 27, 2024, so I was not alerted to the unknown fact that I was unsubscribed, but not "cancelled". My understanding is if one unsubscribes from something, one is cancelling further communication!! So the ****** that The OC Register has taught me, is to not subscribe to their paper EVER AGAIN!!! I think their treatment of customers is shady. I won't even give them 1 star.

    After years of being a subscriber, I tried to cancel my subscription. Called their number twice and talked to two different agents. When I said I was not interested about hearing of any offers and simply wanted to cancel, both agents hung up on me.

    TOTAL SCAM! I paid for year a daily delivery and that is not what I am getting. They charged my CC 4 months before the RENEWAL date and 3 times the amount I originally signed up for. **************** said because I did not OPT-OUT for a ***************** my subscripting was prorated and Auto-Renewal date changed. I told customer service to cancel my subscription today. They said since I was on an Autopay, I couldn't cancel until June 2025.

    *********************************, In review of the account details I see that when accepting our offer to subscribe you agreed to the auto pay terms. Yes, our standard is for subscriptions to auto renew until we hear otherwise. Because we did not hear from you, the subscription continued beyond the introductory rate period. The payment in amount of $112.06 is for another 52 week period. Per your request I will cancel your subscription effective 6/29 and a refund for the remaining balance of $109.67 will re returned to the **** card used when making payment. I am sorry to know that you have made decision to cancel but hope that one day in the future you will give us another opportunity to deliver our paper to you. - ************************* Manager of Customer Relations, Southern *********************

    They have ignored my multiple requests cancel my subscription. They use deceptive wording to make it sounds like it's already cancelled but actual has not been.

    ****************,Please accept my apology for the failure in getting your digital subscription stopped. In review of your account I see the subscription was stopped online, but for the date of 8/28/2024 which explains why the account remains active. Your subscription will be stopped immediatle and the balance owing adjusted off.

    They take your credit card and charge you even after you cancel your subscription. They refuse to refund. It is absolutely fraud.I would never ever sign up for an OC Register subscription.

    I really wanted to support our local paper so I bought a one year subscription and intentionally did not supply my credit card number. They missed the Sunday paper for a few weeks but eventually they became regular. I enjoyed the electronic version but when my subscription ran out I just let it lapse. Then this week, months after it ran out I get a "PAST DUE" notice and a threat to send me to collections unless I pay up another $20.42. I called them and said, "is this a joke?", because I just couldn't believe it. But, apparently this is their policy and they will continue to send papers despite the end of your subscription. Lost me as a potential customer forever.

On 12/12 we received your payment which included what was owed plus an additional term, and the Sunday Only subscription was restarted on 12/17. Your account is active and paid until 3/3/2024.     Ridiculous, fraudulent organization. Simply put, they take your money and refuse to provide reliable service. I have had their service for three weeks and simply cannot get the paper delivered and they will not provide a refund. Their service is a scam. Do not invest-you are just throwing your money away.

    I signed up for a mere 8-week trial subscription. It took me 3 phone calls on 3 different days to cancel my subscription, as my calls kept getting dropped or put on hold for hours. I still havent been able to unsubscribe from the emails despite multiple attempts over the past month.

    Against my better judgment, I was convinced through a relentless series of phone sales calls that the orange county register delivery issues have been resolved. So I subscribed. Ive never received a paper and customer service is unable to resolve the delivery issues. They advised that my my pre-paid subscription is non-refundable. So they keep the money, and I dont get the product.

    Yup, I got screwed also. So did my daughter on her paper subscription. I was supposed to get the paper every Sunday and complained almost every Sunday that I didn't the paper and ended up losing over a hundred dollars. I finally cancelled but they kept all the money even though I signed up for digital only. I simply don't understand how the BBB and CA ************************* allows this to happen. I would like to know if there is an existing class action lawsuit against the owner.
