I was told in February of 2022 that if I paid the lump sum of $897 that my entire student loan debt would be forgiven after 20 years with no additional payments after the $897. I assumed everything was going to plan when I got an email from my loan servicer that my next loan payment is due next month and it looks like nothing has changed in my account and that I was just in forbearance the last couple of years. Nothing was actually done to resolve my student loan debt.Initial Complaint

I am not sure of dates without a bank statement. However I was called by a male representative of SLFD, they explained that my student loans could be forgiven, they new all my school information even to my student I.D number. I was told that if I paid $200.00 dollars a month for 6 months my ****** loan for school would be forgiven. He said there was an act passed in 1997 that gave students loan forgiveness. He was so convincing I paid the 1800 dollars. I never received the receipt they promised me so I changed my bank card. I didn't know I coul file a complaint and that's why I didn't. The business called me and claimed they could forgive some or all of my student loans. They verified how much I owed on my student loans via my FAFSA account. Said they could forgive ~$25,000 out of the total amount and once I set up my payments ($200/month) that I would see the amount they forgave drop from my FAFSA account. Obviously it never came off of my account but they took $200/month for about 18 months. They kept having me refill out their forgiveness form every 6 months so that my account stayed valid. They would call/email/text me to keep in contact about things. Then eventually the amount stopped coming out of my account automatically and I never heard from them. I received an email that a lawsuit is being filed against them and who knows when the resolution will be. Im pretty good at spotting scams and dont fall for things but they were very good at making it seem 100% legit considering they had my FAFSA information. I hope it gets resolved. SLSF processing called me 12/2022 and said they could help my loans get forgiven, but I needed to start making payments on my loan, which had been transferred to Mohela, I had already sent in my PSLF form in August of 2022. When I realized in 2-3 months, the $83.08 that I paid monthly was not being subtracted from my balance, I skipped a month and they told me that my application removed from the ones for forgiveness. So I paid 6 total payments of $83.08. And then my loans were forgiven in August of 2023. Now they don't answer the phone.Initial Complaint

I received a phone call from a debt relief company that said they would pay my payments for my student loans for 120 payments and then my loan would be forgiven. The payments are reflected on my credit report but nothing changed. It was on hold just like everyone else's due to covid and all that and now I have interest charges as well. I was told that this was a debt relief program where I would not be financially responsible for my loan after those 120 payments were made. I still have an outstanding balance of over $24,000 and I would like them to honor their word and pay off the loan as stated. I paid them to do this and they just took my money and ran. ************** is the lady I was in contact with. Her email is ********************************* which is no longer a working email. This business or whatever they claim to be called me and pretended to be a loan forgiveness business with a program that would help me pay off some debt in 6 months. I paid them 145 dollars for 6 months and have yet to see where it has impacted my student loans. I entered into an agreement with them for my student loans. The agreement was I paid $0.00/month for 20 years and then it would fall off after that time period. My loan was transferred to another lender and they are saying that I have to start repaying the loan back for $400 a month and that's ludicrous. Plus they are accruing interest daily on this loan, absolutely insane. I would like to report them for fraud.Initial Complaint

I paid $500 for student loan payoff, they took the money and ran never did anything for my loans as I still have them now and have since missed a payment because I thought this company paid them off
