Complainant: G***** **** Business Name: C & M Automotive and Transmission Date of Incident: 07/10/2024 Warranty Company: Maxcare Vehicle: 2017 Chevy Suburban 30152T3 Dear Better Business Bureau, I am writing to file a formal complaint against C & M Automotive and Transmission regarding unauthorized repair work on my vehicle and subsequent billing issues. Below are the details of my complaint: On 06/26/2024, I took my 2017 Chevy Suburban to C & M Automotive and Transmission because I suspected that my transmission was experiencing issues. My vehicle is covered under an extended warranty provided by Maxcare. C & M Automotive is an approved location for repair under warranty by Maxcare. Without seeking or receiving authorization from Maxcare, C & M Automotive and Transmission proceeded to tear down my transmission. As a result, Maxcare has denied the claim to cover the repair costs, leaving me in a difficult situation. C & M Automotive and Transmission is now demanding a payment of $1,888.00 to release my vehicle, which is currently dismantled and undrivable. When I dropped off my vehicle, it was still drivable and in one piece. No tear-down or repair work was approved by me or my warranty company. I am requesting that C & M Automotive and Transmission reassemble my vehicle to its original condition when I dropped it off, allowing me to drive it away without the unauthorized and disputed charges. I am seeking the BBB's assistance in resolving this matter promptly and fairly. Thank you for your attention and support in this matter. Sincerely, G***** **** 1975 Stoneman Street Simi Valley, CA 93065 626-848-7073 [email protected]

I took my car to C & M as a "Service Now" indicator was on. They charged me $1200 which included $600 in Diagnostic scans. When I picked up my car, the "Service Now" indicator was still on. I offered to pay for the part and labor cost they rendered, however, I asked for the $600 in diagnostic charges to be refunded. They could not explain why the problem still existed and began to state their case with very technical lingo which put me at a disadvantage. I was told the owner was out of town and would return the next day and it was his decision. I received a call the next day to inform me that I would not be reimbursed for any amount. Performing a diagnostic test on a car entails a small device with a monitor and cannot believe they charged me $600 for that given that the "Service Now" indicator was and still is on one month later. I cannot afford to get the car checked out as they took my money.

I had my vehicle towed to this mechanic shop, I called ahead of time to confirm that they work on commercial CNG vehicles. It was towed in from the being broken down on the street on 12/3/2022.I was billed out a total of $3527.85. I was told that they would have my vehicle working and in correct running order if I did what was diagnosed from the beginning. I asked them to find out why the car did not start, I wanted to know what caused it to stop. They pushed me think it was all electrical. They said I needed a level 6 diagnosis and it would be $1200.00. I agreed since they said that is what it needs. I was told my vehicle was ready to go and running. When I went to go get my car on 12/8/2022 it wouldn't start. After they finished everything, they said it needed more work. I asked them why they didn't tell me what it needed before hand. I told them the car doesn't even start. They stated it was better then when it came in. When I informed them that I was dissatisfied with the fact they that did not find out why my car was not starting, why they did unnecessary work, why I was being charged $1200.00 USD for a level 6 diagnosis. They threatened me with a mechanic lean, storage fees and then strong armed me/forced me in to paying only cash, when their website shows they accept Visa, Master Card and Discover. I wanted to get my car fixed, they kept twisting everything I was saying. They added and changed everything I had asked and stated to them. Their notes in their software system when they sent me a link with the notes and quote was changed and twisted and they wrote lies. I took screen shots of them to show proof of it. Their attitude toward me and getting to the bottom of the situation was wrong. They did not correct anything, they have false advertising, they deceived me and caused me a loss in my work for over 2 weeks of my car not working safely, paid in cash $3527.85 and did not solve my problem, just caused more. My car is in another shop now to get repaired.
