I received a call from a finance guy on 4/14/24 telling me that my uncle had put me down as a reference. He continued to tell me what car it was and that my uncle had no credit but that it was fine because I could co-sign for him and in 6 months, I could be taken off the loan. The finance guy told me that my uncle did not want to call me and was too embarrassed to ask and reminded me that I was family and family should help each other out and that my uncle would never s**** me over, keep in mind I've never met this guy and I've never talked to my uncle about the possibility of cosigning a car loan. I start asking questions and tell the finance guy that this is a big decision and responsibility as I'm about to ask more questions he cuts me off and tells me to talk to my uncle. I tell my uncle I'm not done asking questions, so he hands the phone back. I start asking about the interest rate and I tell him that he can't assure anyone a bank will approve my uncle in 6 months and that I would have to think about it so he cuts me off again and tells me that I need to talk to my uncle and tell him I don't want to help him, I get annoyed and I tell him that I should not have to say anything to my uncle and I hung up on him. This left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. I did not appreciate the conversation at all, and it felt like an ambush. This call was very uncomfortable and unprofessional, and it really upset me that the finance guy was trying to make me uncomfortable by having me be the one to tell my uncle I did not want to cosign. After talking to my uncle and mom (she was also present) they told me that they both told the finance guy not to call me and my uncle had told him that if he could not get approved then that was that but that he did not feel comfortable asking me to do something like that.
