This company sent out products for a postage machine, not even for the model we use, along with the invoice. Problem is we did not order any products from them and have no idea who this company is. When called they claimed we did order it which is complete fabrication since we get all of our products for the machine from the service provider which is included under our current service contract. So now I have to pay to ship the material back to them. Sounds like a great business model, send out products to everyone and demand payment or have you pay to send it back. If they would like their unsolicited products back they should send me a prepaid return box.Business response

US Postage Meter Center received the above-referenced customer complaints regarding one incident and appreciates the opportunity to respond. At this point we issued a call tag and as soon as we receive the return we will close their account. US **************************************************************** is committed to providing over ***** customers with the highest standards of service possible for the last 35 years. However, when you deal with that many customers we understand that here and there we get some complaints and we try our best to resolve them. As BBB is mainly structured to collect customer complaints and it doesn't show positive feedback sometimes a few customer complaints seem to give a wrong impression of our business. To help us communicate better and to eliminate misunderstandings on our part, we always ship the orders only after it's confirmed by the customer. We call our customers more than once and confirm their orders, provide them with their customer number, and order confirmation number, and give them our customer service name and phone number. Also to ensure the best possible customer service our sales reps always introduce themselves and give our company name when calling any current or prospective customers. Our company name and address are also clearly displayed on all our correspondences including packages, packing lists, sales orders, and invoices. Whenever we have this kind of issue our collections department reaches out to the customer explains when and how the order was confirmed and shipped and asks if they don't need it to return the supplies. Our calls are randomly recorded for training purposes and we offer them to listen to them. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this issue may have caused. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any additional questions or concerns in this matter.Customer response

We received a call from US Postage Meter Center, **** inquiring about our ink supply for our postage machine. We talked on the phone with them as they were discussing the new postage rate increases that we were aware of. We then received a package in the mail on 4/27/24 that we DID NOT ORDER. We now have an invoice for the order that again was not ordered by us. We have contacted the vendor and there is no response. In reading the other concerns other customers have, we wanted to make sure to get it on record that an attempt was made to send us something we did not order. We want to send the product back and have the charges removed and our account closed as we did not open one.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: we did not order anything and were not advised that they were sending anything. We already have a vendor and had already placed an order with them a few weeks prior. Whenever we have a new vendor we are to instruct them to fill out our vendor application to get them into our system. Our employees know to order from our vendor list and if not they are to contact our ********************* to get the vendor set up. We do not want to close this case until we know our account is closed and that they will not contact us again.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: this business is using illegal and predatory practices. The Merchant calls misrepresenting themselves and pretending to be a known vendor. Then ships overpriced ink and an invoice. This is a common toner scam and they should be stopped. They cover their tracks by having a 2nd caller make contact with a shipping confirmation number. Merchants who ship unordered merchandise with knowledge that it is unlawful are scammers.
Sincerely,

At this point, our record shows we received the returned supplies and the customer's account was closed. The customer was also removed from our contact list. According to our record and voice recording ********************** was contacter by our sales department on 04/10/24 and again 04/11/2024 by our verification department to confirm the ordrer. The package was shipped on 4/15/2024 and received by the customer on 4/22/2024. The customer returned the supplies before they even call and ask for the explanation how it's confirmed and shipped on 5/6/2024. To eliminate such misunderstandings on our part, we always ship the orders only after theyre confirmed by the customer. We call our customers more than once and confirm their orders, provide them with their customer number, and order confirmation number, and give them our customer service name and phone number to contact if they have any issues. Our company name and address are also clearly displayed in all our correspondence including packages, packing lists, sales orders, and invoices. We consider this matter resolved. The consumer needs to contact us if they need t listne to the recording or for further details.

I am rejecting this response because: It is clear this company has covered their bases but the initial phone calls are predatory. The initial call misrepresents who they are. They are very good at presenting themselves as current vendors that are simply providing a resupply of postage machine ink. They use the names of anyone the receptionist mentions to make the person answering the phone feel like this is simply a reorder from a current vendor. This is called pretexting. The fact that they have a 2nd person call you back to confirm "the order" is simply a tactic to cover their bases. This is a text book scam. The company knows it but nothing seems to get done about it. This company is predatory. Their practices are immoral and illegal. The many faces of the toner phoner scam
The toner phoner scam has evolved into a few different formats over the years, some of which are easier to deal with than others.
Here are the main ones you might encounter:
A caller pretending to be your supplier or a competitor and hoping that youll blindly place an order without examining costs or quantities.
A caller offering free or supposedly discounted toner items which will often later arrive with unordered items and a hefty invoice.
A caller asking for personnel and billing information so that they can invoice your company for either for unordered goods that youll never receive, or for items that end up being overpriced and unwanted

We received products from US Postage Meter Center, *** that were not ordered or approved by anyone within our company. The Customer PO doesn't even match any of our employees. We received an invoice for the supplies, and upon receipt, I attempted to call the business via the phone number listed on their invoice **************. No one answered, and it went to voice mail to leave a message. We would like for them to provide us with a return shipping label (so we can return their unwanted product), since we never ordered the product anyway. I believe this is a scam that preys on businesses that use postage meters and hope that their invoices get processed without being investigated. Hopefully, businesses like this will be closed down for scamming.Business response

A representative from the company called before Thanksgiving to confirm what type of postage equipment we had. Then on 12/1/23 a package arrived containing 2 ink cartridges ( not for our postage machine) and 6 envelope moisteners. We do not even use envelope moisteners as we have self adhesive envelopes. I did not order these things, I order ALL our supplies from Pitney ***** as that is where ******** our equipment from. I have never heard of this company, we are Union based in *********. I received an invoice for the materials on 12/12/23 and I called them to get a return address to send the inventory back and they said I would get a call back. I have not received a call back and I called again today and was told the same thing. I'm returning the inventory and I just do not want to pay the $470.41 they say I owe them, especially since I NEVER order these things and I can not use them.Business response

We received a package from an unknown carrier with the wrong type of postage ink for our machine and some type of cleaning product. We never ordered anything of this. They called us requesting payment for almost $200 for items we never purchased. They are saying we order on the phone which we never do. We order our postage ink through our postage meter company Pitney *****. They are harassing us for money that we do not owe. These people have nothing better to do with their lives.Business response
