We were scheduled for an install on 9-7-2024. Nobody showed up at all and we contacted customer service which confirmed the install was that day. We asked that someone please contact us on Monday. The contractor called that evening and said he was sick and would the next day be okay to install (9-8-2024). We said that would be fine. The contractor showed up and informed us they could not finish because they were missing one piece of wood for the roof and that they would not out the shingles on until they had that piece. We spoke to the *** from Tuff Shed and informed him of the unacceptable way the shed was put together. Gaps between the floor and frame, gaps in the roof and them not finishing. The *** for Tuff Shed asked for pictures. After he reviewed the pictures he did confirm that it was unacceptable and that they would come tear the shed down and give us a new one, assuring us that there would be a Tuff Shed *** onsite and different contractors to do the correct install. We were assigned a tear down date of 9-23-2024 as to again nobody showed to do. We called again the *** we have been dealing with and he is now not returning any calls back to us. The contractor did end up calling and said they would be there the following day on 9-24-2024. The new shed is set to arrive on 9-25-2024.The contractor called and said they were not able to make it that day and would take the shed down on the install date( same contractors that installed originally). They informed us we were not getting a new shed as originally said but just a ***lacement floor and roof. We called the *** ******* and he has yet to return a call to us. Well, it is now 9-25-2024 and no installers here . We called the contracted installer and asked where they were. They said the wrong kit is at the pick up location and they are not sure where our is. At this point we have had it with Tuff Shed and want a refund.Business Response

Tuff shed garage built, shingles on roof are falling off after the roof was already replaced once under warranty. Siding and trim on the garage have expanded or absorbed water causing nails to sink, not sealed or painted properly.Door frames were never painted by contractor and are now rotting and falling apart. When stairs were installed, a board was cut while installed on exterior wall leaving an open cut in the siding exposed.I have called the warranty line to corporate July 15 and file a claim (case #********). Had inspection on the garage issues July 31st.I had heard nothing from tuff shed for weeks. Finally called **** from the local tuff shed I was coordinating with, **** said "he had to talk to warranty coordinator, he would call me back tomorrow". That was on august 26th 11:35am today is September 10th still have heard nothing back from anybody, about the issues or scheduling anything to fix the issues.any further contact by tuff shed to my email *****************Business Response

I purchased a Tuff Shed building in **************************** August of 2023. In March, 2024, I realized there was a water leak around the doors. I contacted Tuff Shed on March 18, 2024 and they sent two people out to fix the leak. They did not bring a ladder nor tools, just silicone so they had to use my personal ladder. On May 20, 2024, I found the shed to be leaking at the doors again. Contacted Tuff Shed and they sent someone out to repair the leak 11 days later. After next heavy rainfall from the North/Northeast in July, I called them July 31, 2024 about doors still leaking and also leaking at North window. By that time, the floor was showing evidence of water damage all the way back to the South wall (24 feet.) They finally sent someone out on August 17, 2024 (again, just brought more silicone, but with some tools.) On September 1, 2024 we had a heavy rainfall and there are leaks at doors and window again. I contacted Tuff Shed on September 4, 2024 (today.) I have taken pictures of the leaks since May 2024. I have been unable to use the shed as intended (as a woodworking hobby shop) due to the continued water leaks. Tuff Shed is not taking adequate measures to adequately identify and correct the underlying cause or causes of the leaks.Business Response

Ordered 7/1/2024 a Shed built with a Trusses with Loft and $1,741.50 was added to the bill for the cost of the Loft. Shed was finalized and inspected by county and Tuff Shed's representative refuses to deduct that line item from my bill. After the Shed was finalized some deficiencies were fixed but no Loft was installed.Business Response
Date: 09/04/2024
The customer purchased an attic truss with loft upgrade. When we went to build the shed we didnt have the sheets for the loft in the attic truss portions. The next day we came back to finish the build. He turned the sub-contractors away and told them he does not want the materials for the loft; he stated he thought the loft would span the whole roof. He now wants the attic truss with loft to be fully refunded. We were trying to give only a portion back to the customer since he still has the attic truss upgrade. He does not have the sheets to add the attic truss to make it a loft. He argues since attic truss with loft is one line item, the whole amount should be refunded.
The associate has been in contact with customer, and the ** has instructed him to just go ahead and inform customer we will refund that whole line and adjust amount needed to be over with it.. Other than that, he is happy with his building.Customer Answer

On March 16, 2024, we selected Tuff Shed to build & install a 16x20, two-story shed on our property. We asked lots of questions to *** (salesman) about the layout of the shed, prep we should make for best installation, asked about a concrete slab, to which *** said block was sufficient. Weeks after the purchase, multiple items on the interior had to be changed due to engineering & the computer program not giving realistic expectations of what could be built. We made those changes & moved forward. Two things continue to be a sore point with this ******************* First, the men installing it were surprised they were not showing up to a 'crawl space' - gravel, blocks, footers, etc. since that is what the permit read. *** had assured us that they install units this large and heavy on block all the time. The installers had a different opinion. They mentioned several things that would have made the install of this size shed more secure. This is what I wish I had been told from the day we purchased it in March. I had months to do the proper site work if they had only educated us on that. Today, the blocks are leaning on both sides that are supporting the shed. There has been movement of the shed on the front blocks as well. I reached out after the warranty repair man came for a second time to seal windows (which still leaks) to talk about best ways to secure its foundation. Their reply is that I will be responsible for both the block and labor to correct their original install claiming that leveling is not their problem after the build. It sure seems like it should be their issue since it wasn't installed properly from day one. Second, I texted photos to ***** who was handling any warranty repairs. I had done this since the original install because nearly every window leaked. We still have one or two windows that leak with each rain. It has been two weeks since they received the message which still says READ. No response or schedule for a repair has been made.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The business is failing to recognize the need to honor their given warranty to ensure that our built shed is actually sealed and not leaking.
Secondly, the business response fails to acknowledge any error on the part of Tuff Shed in the process (inquiry to post build) for the issues now experienced with the way the shed is supported (which are failing).
I have further reached out to management at various levels. They have stated that they will actually take action and help rectify the issues. I am hopeful. NOTHING has been done as of yet, but this complaint requires me to respond within 7 days. I doubt it will be resolved within that time. I hope it will be soon though. To be continued...
Sincerely,

I ordered a shed from tough shed through ********** and has been a total nightmare. We paid over $21,000 for this shed and ***** was always there to help before we completed purchase after this it has not been the same. they built the garage door opening 6 inches too big. I called multiple times to get assistance on getting 2 new panels to fix issue. I just ordered them and figured we would get taken care of later. after multiple calls my sales rep ***** would only reply via email even when he was back in the office. No call to say he was going to get to the bottom, of this matter just emails. Then on October 22nd I got a call from a manager letting me know he was sorry and would get reimbursed on My card for the 2 panels and would take 3-7 business days. now over 2 weeks later still no refunded and after this issue no follow up from ***** again to make sure that I received credit. Do not use tough shed go with your local shop that will take your calls and are not too busy for you after the sale.Business Response

I ordered a replacement door on my TuffShed early July, pre paid for it too.A service manager, *****, told me how to measure the old door but did not send out a tech to measure. Consequently, the first door didn't fit.I had to call/vm/text ***** to get any info on when their on-site team would make the door and install. ***** never got back to me so after ********************************************************************************* the office, i.e. scheduling. Finally, I got someone who said the build order would begin on 7/11, it took 2 hours, and install would be on 24th. The door didn't fit so they took it back. The remake door was finally completed on 7/31 after.me tracking it down with 17 attempted communications by me to find out when they will install. They finally sent someone on 8/1. The tech was by himself and new to company with no training or experience with installing 80 pound door. An impossible expectation especially given ***** set him up for failure with wrong hardware, not right size screws, never saw nor did this before, ***** gave him terrible & wrong instructions by phone, and then to not send someone who could help/advise him on site. This company created poor workmanship, no longevity, and lack of sturdiness of door. The problem has now landed on the customer. They need to be called out and consumers need to be protected!Even the other employees don't care, never called me back for updates when they said they would, ***** (service manager) ghosted me for weeks, and now I'm stuck with a poor quality door, no customer service, and couldn't be a worse experience for my $462 door.I now have a shed that's usable and I never could get satisfaction. Now I will have to hire a different company to get my shed door correct. There is nothing I can do, this company has a culture poor customer service and lack of caring; now I have door that won't last, doesn't look good, and lowest quality is the final result.Business Response

The Tuff Shed was purchased several years ago and is no longer covered under warranty-2016. The door had rotted so customer sent in measurements for a new door. The new door did not have correct measurements once we tried to install it. Tuff Shed employee brought back correct specs and new door was fabricated and installed.Customer Answer

Complaint: 22077929
I am rejecting this response because:Their response does not even address the ongoing main complaint of the extremely poor workmanship & incorrect installation of the door.
The installation left the new door not able to shut, the wrong short screws left the door flimsy and not secure at the hinges, and the handle installed with wrong orientation (sideways). The door is unstable as a result of their installation as a result of the shortcuts, untrained installer, and extremely poor management responses.
The business should not be allowed to get away with the harmful, expensive, and unethical behavior to the unsuspecting customers.
Sincerely,

**** mentioned Tuff Shed lack of Responsiveness
********************* original shed warranty ended in 2021, and when the customer requests an after warranty services, a quote is sent out for review and if customer agrees to pay. A payment link is sent to the customer to pay because service rendered after warranty payment is required to be paid in full just like a shed install.Services were paid by the ********************* on July 3rd for the shed door replacement.
For Services we need a few days to line up the installer/ technician and incorporate prefabrication of items ( in this case a shed door) into the workload for our fabricators. Tuff shed had every intention of reaching out to the customer the following week but unfortunately, we suffered the lost of power due to hurricane ***** that came in on July 7th. When we received power on the 11th, we were able to answer ********************* call.
Due to damages to the facility from the hurricane, those were a priority to address so all of our Employees have a safe work environment to continue production.
Communication between ***** and **** via text was prompted and the delay of **** receiving her shed door replacement is not a reasonable reason to receive full refund due to the circumstances. The majority of ******* needed to recover from Hurricane *****.
********************* mentioned unusable product
We have a video of the shed door during the installation process, and it shuts and opens. If it doesn't open now, it is due to customer direction as mentioned in prior response.
"Tuff Shed standard requires a gap between trim and door in order to operated properly, but customer refused our direction. We will be happy to go back and install it to Tuff Shed install standard, if the customer gives us an opportunity to do so."
Tuff Shed is requesting to go back to ********************* property so we can install the door to our standards.Tuff Shed prides themselves of providing a quality product and Tuff Shed, having been in business for over 40 years, is a testament of that.
Tuff shed does not believe a refund is warranted because services and product is installed on ********************* 2016 Tuff Shed.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********.There has been NO direction nor participation by me regarding the door installation. This is absurd by Tuff Shed.
I am still concerned that tuff shed quality of installation will be a repeat of the failed installation that prompted this BBB complaint in the first place.
All my attempted commmunications ( way before and after *********************) with Tuff Shed in ******* simply asked for my door to open and shut. I gave done nothing to the door at any point post installation, another absurdity.
I am 73 year old woman in ***** and tuff shed' s attempt to extort me and misrepresent themselves to the public is why I have turned to the BBB for help.
I am tired of all the ignoring me. excuses now. and there is no video of the door operating properly at installation because it never did.
Yes, they can do a second attempt at making their door open and shut freely and properly, fix door handle to be aligned correctly, and straighten the crooked door in the opening.
If they fail again, which is more probable than not given that they maintain they already did a functional/quality installation the first time, I will be back at square one with this complaint.
One more try, then if still doesn't work properly, I will only accept a full refund on their non- functional door.
Sincerely,

I have been waiting for 2 weeks since my last email (the last one in chain below) for The Tuff Shed company to reinstall the door.
Since this was the objective all along to get a door that svtually works, I accepted their offer to send someone to fix it.
I always doubted that they will finally do what is right, based on their past interactions with me.
Apparently, I am right. They are still ignoring me, and BBB.
I wish to reopen this complaint because they have not made any effort in good faith to resolve the orginal complaint (22077929).
I now, as I said in my last response, will now only accept the original request of a full refund.
I would appreciate a quick response so I can hire a reputable installer to finally get my door to function. Time is of the essence because I have been waiting to use my shed since end of July.
Disappointed, but not surprised,

I am rejecting this response because: since Aug 4th, tuff shed has been unresponsive and very poor business ethics.I have not gotten any communications from them, except through BBB. I had been very open to giving this companybanother chance, and another, and another.
They continually ignore me until this supposed offer of Friday install. I am working that day so can't do this.
Additionally, Tuff shed has demonstrated their intention of dishonorable behavior and false/weird/irrelevant communication and responses even to this BBB complaint.
No one should trust them as evidenced repeatedly on this complaint.
I compromised my orginal desired outcome to get my refund, but tuff shed again never followed through to get this done. I stand behind my refund solution again!!
The Consumer needs to be forewarned about this unethical and bizarre behavior by the company and the employees.

I purchased my Tuff Shed May 29th with a delivery date of approximately 2 weeks. It is now going on 2 months and I have made payment on something I do not even have in my possession. I went to cancel and was promised it would be made right. I worked with them on that and continued on. I was told it would be delivered the 23rd of July and hasnt come. Now they have the almost exact build for sale with immediate delivery for $2000 less than I paid. It has been nothing short of a horrible experience and have spent over $8000 and have nothing to show for it but emails and texts! I would like a $2500 credit to my credit card.Business Response

We worked out an agreement with the customer. He is continuing his current order with us. He understands the pricing difference between a display and an install. He express his main frustrations with the miscommunications since the sale started. The agreement is we are covering the first two payments that he has already made of coming to a total of $750, and we will have his shed to him this month once the permit is in.
