Despite AMR claiming that they are competitively priced, they are certainly not. They charge way above the local average costs. AMR is a predatory company taking full advantage of people in emergency situations. In my case, they billed $5,720 where the local average cost was $3,101. Every itemized charge was severely marked up. They are more exploitive of their customers than Boing was of the ***. After 2 years of negotiating with them and the insurance company, they refused to offer any compromise on charges and insinuated that I should of known they were out of network. Who asks for an ambulance in network while they are watching someone die in front of them?!It seems they have a history of improper billing as well. It seems a common theme that they initially claim services as "non emergency", leaving the customer the work of sorting out why their insurance claim was denied.I'm convinced that this is strategic in the hopes that customers pay out of pocket rather than them having to negotiate terms with insurance providers. I don't think one would have to walk far to establish cause for a class action law suite against AMR for price gouging and improper billing practices. I am tempted to allow the bill to go to collections rather than see AMR fully reimbursed for their outrageous costs. Any one who works for AMR should be ashamed. Exploiting people in their most vulnerable moments.

Since I used their services at the casa grande location it's been a terrible experience. I first arrived at the ***************** and they confirmed via testing I had appendicitis and I required surgery. I was then transported to another hospital because they didn't have a surgeon available. The bill was denied by my insurance because it was coded I had stomach pain. This was in October 2024 and I have called over 8 times to get this corrected by the ambulance company but they continue to push back the "review" date. It's now May and nothing has changed and my insurance will not cover the claim unless this is fixed. The coding is still incorrect. I would not recommend them because of their consistent ability to not fix an error on their end.

In October of 2024 I had to call 911 because my wife fell and fractured her hip. I could not move her myself. The firefighters arrived first and stabilized her. By the time the ambulance arrived there was nothing for them to do but put her on the ****** and move her into the ambulance. The distance from our house to the hospital was less than 0.2 miles. We received a bill for $1,752.30. I called AMR to request a detailed bill and they refused. Why are you hiding the costs??? This was an outrageous charge. You are ripping off your customers!!!

AMRs rates are competitive for the communities we serve and meet all applicable local, state and federal limitations.  Ambulance provider fees typically include a base charge for the transport, a mileage fee, and any applicable ancillary charges.

In December 2024, our family faced a nightmare situation with our son. He, a type 1 diabetic, had a hypoglycemic event while home from college. In the middle of the night, our low blood sugar alarm alerted us, and we rushed to find him unconscious, face down in a pool of glass. He had fallen into his nightstand, breaking a lamp and sustaining head injuries that required *********** experienced parents of a type 1 diabetic, we can usually manage low blood sugar episodes. However, the added cuts and head trauma led us to call an ambulance. I am grateful for the coverage provided by **************** during this event and historically. We typically meet our out-of-pocket maximum by mid-year, so I was shocked to receive a bill for $1,052.49 from the ambulance service (AMR) in February 2025.Upon contacting BCBS, I learned that the charges were due to the ambulance service being out-of-network. I checked a prior event from 2022; the same AMR ambulance service was in-network then, so they met the insurance-agreed charges. The **** representative shared a personal story about her mother avoiding ambulance costs after a critical accident, highlighting a broader issue: in emergencies, insured parents should not have to worry about the cost of unsubscribed ambulatory services. These services are critical in urgent situations; avoiding them due to cost concerns can jeopardize patient health.I did not consider the cost; I knew we were insured and acted quickly to ensure my sons safety. This is so much of a problem in ********* that the state Legislature has a Bill, HB1061, related to this issue called no surprise ambulance billing. Therefore, I request that AMR accept BCBS allowed full payment and eliminate the $1,052.49 in excessive emergency charges for the ambulance service.

Our office has thoroughly researched the consumers concerns regarding the No Surprises Act (***). This law does not apply to ground ambulance companies.  The insurance carrier does not contract with AMR in the area where services were provided; therefore, the consumer is responsible for the unpaid balance.  We suggest the consumer contact the insurance for an appeal if they feel a larger portion should be covered.

We understand emergency medical care can be an unexpected expense. To assist our patients in these situations, AMR offers interest-free payment plans, prompt pay discounts where allowed by law, and a financial assistance program for those in most need.  ************* can be reached ************** if the consumer would like to inquire.

My widowed mother was taken to the hospital on 12/25/21. She had insurance and never heard anything about the bill and assumed it was all good. On Oct-2024 almost 3 yrs later she got a bill for what they said would be the copay for $516. She paid it. In late Feb 25, she was billed for $3500 due Mar 20th telling her they haven't heard from insurance. Since she is now 89 and confined in her home, I called AMR for her on Mar24th. I earned a bunch of things. Since this was 3-1/2 yrs ago, she doesn't remember who her ins was. They have a ****************** option to help with payment, but they told me it isn't available since it was sent to Collections on Mar 17th (3 days before the bill was due!!). This is an 89yr old widow on Social Security of $1500 a month. Quite ruthlesss. No correspondance for 3yrs, nothing said about collections. I learned this when trying to see how we could go about getting them paid----Awful!!

Service was below acceptable. IV bag was removed for transport, then put on a shelf and left at the receiving hospital. Cost was 5 times my insurance reasonable and customary rate.

It appears that I am NOT alone when I say that AMR is a scandalous company that treats people like garbage. My husband is almost 70 years old, he is legally blind, and hard of hearing. He did not want to go to the hospital, but the *** ***** ****** said that he was given custody by the police and he had to force him to go to the hospital. There is no such law in *******. In order to transport a person to the ** for any psych situation, it is the *** that an emergency petition is filed, and order signed by the court. Please refer to ARS ******. Petition for treatment. It is V**Y clear that my husband was not properly ************* with any corporation, lets follow the money. It is NOTED that my husband was alert, however on the billing page, it states that he is unable to sign for himself and therefore the Nurse at Banner Casa Grande ******* ****** signs on behalf of my husband stating that he will pay for the ambulance ride. Interesting enough, ******* ****** worked for AMR ******** for many years... MY husband had NO PROBLEM signing his traffic citation but couldn't sign for his billing. He wouldn't sign; they knew it. He was released from police custody. There is only one way that AMR can resolve this with us. They will NOT bill us, as he didn't sign for it, and a conflicting Nurse from the hospital said he couldn't sign so she did for my husband. This is absolutely disgusting. Things only got worse for my husband from there. LOOK AT THE RATINGS!! This company is garbage. AMR, shame on you!! MY HUSBAND IS A VET**AN OF THE USA, AND ALMOST 70 YEARS OLD, HE IS LEGALLY BLIND AND HEARING IMPAIRED!!! ***** ******, YOUR employee called ahead to former colleague ******* ******, and my husband was injured due to this phone call. AN ELD**LY veteran. Disgusting. AMR please reach out to me so we can discuss how this bill will be waived due to fraudulent signature by your employees. Thank you.I can be reached at ***********

Calling this "company " and there "employees " a joke, beyond disrespectful, over priced, heartless, judgemental, discriminators, ect, ect, ect, is quite literally the understatement of the century! I had my daughter in August and unfortunately she ended up having to be in the **** for 3 weeks and had to be transferred from one hospital to a children's hospital in ******** using these t*** waffles. I'm not sure how the h*** this "company " accomplished this but not only did they misspell my daughters name, which was on her paperwork, her NICU infant bed thing, and her medical wristbands, but to bill our insurance they used her name with my date of birth along with a combination of both of our medical member ID numbers along with some random persons address to bill our insurance for her ride. How the h*** is that possible to accomplish!? Not only did they continue trying to bill my insurance using there ****** up way and never got any response back from my insurance, but these t*** waffles even got the insurance company's address completely wrong. And these dumb assessment had the nerve to be passed at me for calling them out on their ********. Seriously, did they get there licensing out of a cracker **** box and there employees out of a not so happy meal?? No joke! Ridiculous!

This place is horrible. They are very disrespectful and should be looked into on how the treat the elderly patients. Didnt understand how they couldnt get to my mother in the afternoon to transport her home. They waited until the evening when it would be very dark. There was at least 8-10 inches of snow on the ground. Why would anyone try and transport an elderly woman late at night. Probably because African Americans are the last to be helped.
