It states in their listing there is a security camera on the door for guests safety, but it is really there because the owners like to watch your every move. After we left they tried to charge us for multiple extra things “we saw on the camera you had 5 people.” The ad states sleeping for 6 but they charge more for any guests over 4?? They also wanted to charge a $500 pet fee and sent me a picture of the vacuum filter dirt and said we must have had a dog in there because of several strands of silver/white hair it was MY hair!! I have a service dog which is not considered a pet according to AirBnB and as a result they lost their ability to charge us $500. Now 3 weeks later since they found out today that they lost they have created a brand new fraudulent claim to get $500... that the cleaner had to spend extra time cleaning and they had to get an air purifier as a result. These are all lies as our tiny little Malti-poo does not shed, does not smell, and is perfectly trained. The living room couch is very hard and uncomfortable leather and the TV is small with a non-working fireplace. The dining table is too small and very dark it is only lit by a small desk lamp. If you like nosy owners watching you every time you enter and exit. And owners who go thru vacuum filters once you leave with CSI teams to retrace what you may or may not have done during your stay this is the perfect place for you…

    Steamboat Dream Vacation Response

    01/11/2023

At Steamboat Dream Vacation we take great pride in maintaining the quality and esthetics of our properties. Thus, we must have rules and regulations in place to obtain the best experience for our future guests. Yes, as advertised prior to booking, we charge more for the 5th or 6th guest at this particular property. Additional guests add to the wear and tare, cleaning time and utility usage of a property. This is very standard for most rentals. We also have an extremely strict no animal policy. Bringing in an animal is against the HOA, can lead to allergy irritation and hospitalization for future guests and causes a financial burden due to the time it takes to clean post departure. Maggie S******* did not inform us she was bringing a dog. We found out post her departure because there was dog food left all over the floor. Yes, as advertised, we have a security camera outside the unit door. After our cleaners send us images of the dog food, we then checked to confirm the guests violated our rules and regulations on bringing an animal. We do not sit and monitor our cameras all day, only when necessary. It was not until after the fact that Maggie S******* states her dog was a “service animal”. Sadly so many people today are using that as a tool to get out of paying pet violation fees. This is so very disheartening as we work very closely with local disabled veterans who really do need service animals. We have proof that Maggie’s dog is not a service animal, rather just a pet, because they left the dog alone while out. The whole point in a service animal is that they must be with their handler at all times. Please be carful when renting to Maggie and her family as they will do whatever they can to fight back if you catch them in one of there rule violations. Again, our main goal is to make sure all future guests have the best possibly experience. We must have rules in place to make this happen! Regards SDV
