  Food has been an ongoing issue for the past 3 years through the present. The Hearth at Glastonbury is an assisted living and memory care facility. We sent a petition (signed by all residents (except for four) to the corporate headquarters on July 5, 2022 with complaints about the food here. Corporate did not respond to us. The Hearth's advertising literature states that food is prepared "from scratch every day". They call the food "Hearth-Healthy" and "delicious". The food is substandard and unacceptable. Although there is an alternative menu, items are mostly fast food and items listed may or may not be available. Meat and fish are typically thin cut and cannot be prepared any way other than very well done and dry. Canned or frozen vegetables are consistently overcooked, leeching nutrients and taste. Food choices are difficult for residents with diabetes and dietary restrictions. Too much fried food is served and meals are heavy with carbohydrates. Potatoes, rice, bread, and/or pasta are served at lunch and dinner on a daily basis. Often pasta is served with no protein. Many meals do not include green vegetables. Often potatoes and corn are served with no green vegetables. Most current cooks do not cook in a way that meets residents nutritional needs. The food served frequently does not resemble the food described on the menus. The cooks do not know or follow standard recipes for the food listed.
