I used Pitney bowes many years ago for my postage needs for business. I eventually cancelled the service and returned all the equipment. I had a balance due and was making payments. Over the years as I have made payments, I noticed that my balance never went down. I have a credit line of $1000 even thought I cancelled service. Every month I am being charged a $39.00 over limit fee and finance charges over $100 which consist of 22.75%apr and 0.062% daily periodic rate. This is worse than a credit card! Not sure what the laws are but feel the charges are too much. Would like to settle.Business Response

Our postage meter suddenly stopped working about a month ago, and after many, many attempts at contacting Pitney Bowes, they finally sent us a refurbished meter that also DOES NOT WORK! Two support cases and many labor hours later, the issue is still not resolved. If, on the occasion, we are fortunate enough to actually talk to a live person at Pitney Bowes, they are full of empty promises, with absolutely no follow through. They won't respond to the case thread online, or return the calls after promising numerous times that they will call back in 1 to 3 hours. Moreover, they required us to spend $122 on a printing cartridge, only to find out that it doesn't work either! Then they tried to make us spend even more on a cleaning kit to clean the refurbished unit that THEY just shipped us. Today, I spent a ridiculous amount of time waiting for a "supervisor" to take my call, and then he hung up on me. Case numbers are ******** and ********. The only remedy I am seeking is to be released from the lease without cost to our nonprofit organization. I would rather buy stamps at the post office and stick them on all our outgoing mail than deal with the disastrous customer service at Pitney Bowes.Business Response

Lease ******** is due to end on March 29, 2027. We have Case ******** open for a technician to come onsite and repair the meter. There is a recent order for Pitney Bowes ink, but please note that we cannot guarantee any ink from another company will work in the meter.Initial Complaint

BUSINESS IS NOT SENDING RETURN LABEL AND BOX SO OUR OBSOLETE MAIL MACHINE CAN BE RETURNED. PITNEY BOWES IS HOLDING $693.47 THAT IS IN THIS MACHINE. THE MACHINE MUST BE RETURNED IN THEIR BOX WITH THEIR LABLE SO WE CAN GET OUR REFUND OF $693.47 THAT IS IN THIS MACHINE. WE HAVE TRIED FOR OVER A MONTH TO GET SOMEONE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THE POST OFFICE DEEMED THIS MACHINE AS OBSOLETE AS OF JUNE 30, 2024. THE MACHINE WILL NO LONGER WORK AND OUR FUNDS ARE HELD BY PITNEY BOWES IN THIS MACHINE. WE NEED THE RETURN LABEL AND BOX TO RETURN THIS OBSOLETE MACHINE. WHEN THE MACHINE IS RETURNED THE DOCK WILL SEND IT TO THE WAREHOUSE AND SOMEONE FROM PITNEY BOWES WILL NEED TO RETRIEVE THE FUNDS. PITNEY BOWES WILL THEN TRANSFER THE FUNDS FROM THE MACHINE TO OUR ACCOUNT AND THEN THEY WILL CUT US A CHECK IN THE AMOUNT OF $693.47. I BELIEVE YOU MUST RETURN THE MACHINE BY THE END OF DECEMBER. I don't know how to add additional information so I will type it out. First call was made on October 10, 2024 - ***** ** Customer Service - she stated that she needed to transfer me to someone else as the account would need to be cancelled and she could not handle that. I was transferred to the Tech department. Giselle from the Tech Department wanted me to disconnect the machine and then rehook it up. Explained that was all tried already. The machine will not do anything, it obsolete it will not download anything. Transferred to RoseAnn in Billing Department. She stated that I would need to return the machine. Pitney Bowes would send me a label and box to return the machine. When the machine was received on the dock it would then be given to the warehouse and someone would retrieve the funds from the machine and put them into our account. We would then receive our refund of $693.47. I then contacted Pitney Bowes on October 21, 2024 and stated once again the issue and that I needed the label and box to return this machine. October 22, 2024 I contacted Pitney Bowes once again and stated this is now the 4th time I am requesting a label and box to return this machine and get my funds of $693.47 returned to us. Mani responded that he needed more information. I once again provided the account number and serial number of the machine. Since I received no response from anyone at Pitney Bowes after that, I sent a letter dated October 28, 2024 to *** **** ********** supposedly head of Pitney Bowes. No response from him. November 5, 2024 I sent another request to Pitney Bowes support once again stating the issue and requesting a label and box to return this machine so we can get our funds returned. November 18, 2024 - sent another request for label and box. I then filed a complaint with The Federal Complaint Department and a compliant with Better Business Bureau as you were listed on the ********** website. There is no way to speak with a live person. Everything is via internet.

We canceled our contract having paid all invoices. Pitney Bowes then tried to invoice us AGAIN. They sent us a new meter we did not request. We removed postage from the machine we sent back and now they will not send a refund that we have requested many many times. You can never reach a live person & if you do by chance get a live person after several attempts & after calling several numbers they can't speak English. Worst customer service EVER. I'm pretty sure this is a scam business.Business Response

3/3/2022 I attempted to cancel. A case was opened but I couldn't access the information. It said that case had been closed. In the chat it mentions cancelling over the phone as the primary way to cancel. Is this to prevent a paper trail of cancellation attempts?Business Response

On 2/23/23 we requested that one of our lease contracts with Pitney Bowes be terminated as of the contract end date, which was 5/9/2024. I have attached proof of this interaction with Pitney Bowes and on 3/1/2023 we returned the leased equipment . They failed to close the account, and erroneously charged us as if the contract had been renewed. Despite multiple attempts to have this rectified, Pitney Bowes refuses to refund invoice #**********. We simply want to be refunded the amount of the referenced invoice.Business Response

The notes for Case ******** on 8/23/2022 indicate that the meter is not being used and is broken, but the lease was not terminated. There was an offer to transfer the call to Technical Support but this was declined and someone from the office would call for support later. The notes from Case ******** on 2/23/2023 refer to the cancellation of Lease **********. Case ******** from 10/22/2024 was opened to complete the cancellation of Lease **********.Customer Answer

Please see the previously attached case document. It is very clearly a request to cancel the lease, which Pitney Bowes did not do. Their references to offering technical support are not shown, nor is there any mention of the office calling them back. We intended to cancel the lease, hence why the equipment was returned.For reference, I have copied the text below.

There was an outstanding balance of $578.28 made up of 6 invoices (Invoices #********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********) for your lease agreement, on 10/21 our collections team called the number ending in **** and spoke to **** ******** who confirmed she was the AP. **** agreed to make payment for outstanding invoices over the phone and paid with credit card.

The tracking was uploaded on October 11th 2024 with some updates to tracking for the following days. As 10/19/24 arrived the package arrived at a random airport with no tracking nor did it say what city & state it was in. Now stuck wherever with no updates, I would like to know if my package is even going to be delivered seeing as it's been over 2 weeks with no updates or new info to work with.Business Response

Our contract with Pitney Bowes ended in 2022 but we continued to use their services until June of 2024 which is when we terminated their service. All invoices were paid in full and an over payment of one invoice plus unused postage was refunded to our agency in July of 2024. Recently we began receiving a notice of one unpaid invoice for $33.32. I contact PB advising that the account was closed and paid in full. After making this inquiry they have added 4 additional invoices in the last 12 days totaling $166.60 showing IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED TO AVOID COLLECTIONS. I opened another case with their specialist team showing that we do not, nor did we at the time of termination have an active contract with them. Our previous contract was dated May 25, 2017 for the duration of 63 months, and expired in 2022. I am seeking the BBB assistance to get this account with Pitney Bowes closed and all open invoices removed. I have pages of documentation and copies of communication with Pitney Bowes from 2017 when signing the contract and through the years with their gross negligence of accounting errors.
