In November 2023 I purchased 6 sets of Christmas lights from *****. 2 weeks later half the lights weren't working and continued until every set no longer worked. Occasionally when raining hard enough all the lights would come back on. ***** no longer took back Christmas stuff at the end of December and told me to file a claim with Nicolas Holiday. Upon looking at ***** customer reviews of the same light set most of the reviewers had the same complaint as me. When I filed a warranty claim with Hicolas Holiday they told me to ship them the lights which would cost me around $30 or more to do. I told them I wanted to escalate to a manager and no one ever called me back. Earlier in November 2024 I tried to once again get a manager. I was told it would be escalated to their main office. I then only receive an email saying I didn't send them all the paper work (Which I did). I then call again and they say they will get back to me in 3-5 days which they didn't. I call again and they ask for more paperwork they all ready had.Initial Complaint

Item purchased failed to operate after a few weeks and deemed defective and could not be returned to the original place of purchase due to the return policy limitation. We contacted the Nicolas Holiday requesting a replacement under the warranty and provided all necessary documents to validate the warranty as requested by the company. We made many attempts to get the issues resolved and for the company to fulfill its warranty replacement, however, all we have been experiencing is dismissal and avoidance from the company representatives to give us a legitimate solution or answer. The company representative have been very illusive and not vague with their responses.Initial Complaint

Prior to Thanksgiving while the weather here was still decent we purchased 21 strings of ** ********** 150-count Christmas lights and installed them at our home. They worked fine for a couple of weeks then started to randomly go out then back on in different areas of the strings. Clearly this is some type on manufacturing defect as it was happening with all the strands not just one or two. At this point it is winter and all the decorations are up. It was a huge disappointment having spent all that money and the time we spent putting them up just to have them last a couple weeks. by a week before Christmas all the lights went out. We spent Christmas out of the country and when we returned I took down all the Christmas decorations and tried to return them to ****** where we purchased them. They would not take them back because per their return policy they do not take seasonal items back after the season and told me I would have to contact the manufacturer. I contacted Nicols Holiday as the lights have a three year warranty. However they insist I must pay out of my own pocket to ship 21 spools of light to then so they can try to repair them. This is not at all stated in the warranty information on the package. Clearly they have a defective product and I do not feel we should have to spend more money on a product that is borderline a scam to start with. I would be happy with a return authorization so I can just return them to the place of purchase or a refund and I will throw them in the trash where they belong.Initial Complaint

We purchased ** Christmas lights at ***** in ********** ******** Not even two weeks later, more than half of the lights completely quit working. We had to rent a lift to even put our Christmas lights up on our home, so for them to quit working is unacceptable (especially this many of them!). We cannot take them down until we rent another lift to remove the lights completely. Our home looks ridiculous (see attached pictures) that more than half of the lights aren't working. I would like compensation for the non working lights -- this was a hu** inconvenience for us and ***** says to reach out to ** for this issue. We would like a refund of the 6 lights we purchased for 44.98 plus sales tax for a total of $288.77.Initial Complaint

On November 25, 2023 we purchased 2 5 ft.Winterberry pre lit outdoor trees from ***** for $129 each. Shortly after we placed them securely in from of our house and they worked fine. about 3 weeks later (Christmas eve as I recall), the lower section of one of the trees went out. I attempted to secure all bulbs, changed fuses etc. with no success. We then travelled for a bit and I called the ** ******* ******** **** today. I was told that the tree had no warranty at all- so that if it didn't work when I took it out of the box I was out of luck. After telling me to do all of the things I had already done, the agent finally told me to buy a new strand of lights and just wrap them around the tree. I feel sorry for her because she was simply following instructions, but GE needs to stand behind their products better than this. Please warrant your product for at least 30 to 60 days, provide true solutions to fixing the problem, or clearly advise that there is no warranty whatsoever on this product (I'd have gone with the store warranty had I known). I would like the tree fixed- I really liked it when it worked- or replacement parts to make it work. Failing that, a full refund of my $129 purchase price. I have always enjoyed GE products and bought another GE refrigerator just a few months ago my third one I believe. Given this experience however I may be done with GE.Initial Complaint

I received as a gift the ** glitter gem Garland and upon plugging it in it lasted for less than a week and when I looked at it as to why it was not working I found about half of the bulbs were all black when I called the company they told me I would have to pay for postage to send it back to them which I do not think is fair since I was I'm the one with the faulty product.Initial Complaint

Purchased item 37239 7' Winterberry Pre-lit Twig tree from ***** 11/12/2022 paid on sale $172.93 incl tax, it would not hold settings, lights flashed erratically from white to color and dimmed exchanged it 11/23/22. Same exact problem occurred exchanged it 11/30/22. By 12/19/22 the exact same problem occurred, however due to holiday travel we did not return it to ***** for a refund. On 12/29,/20 I tried to return it to Lowes. They refused it, said no Christmas items are accepted after 12/24/22 you have to call the manufacturer, Nicolas Lighting. On 1/9/23 I called Nicolas Lighting spoke to John. He said they don't carry the warranty the store does. But he asked me to trouble shoot the tree. Could o**y be one of two issues Power adapter or Control box. Once Nicolas Lighting knew which part they would send it to me. I set the tree up did the trouble shooting. Obviously since the tree would light, it was the control box. I called ** 1/10/23. Talked to Vanessa, she said they do not send Control Boxes to customers. She told me to complete a form or their website and make the request to escalate the issue. I should have a response from ** in 3-5 days. I have had no response to date. I am currently out $172.33 because neither the manufacturer nor the retailer will stand behind the sale, It seems inexcusable that this company will not stand behind their product which the original price was $200. I want my $172.33 refunded. Please note no where is there any mention that the tree has no warranty. I would recommend that consumers not purchase from Nicolas Lighting and personally I will not shop ***** in the future. Thank you for any assistance that can be provided.Initial Complaint

On November 6, 2022 I purchased one string of ** 100-CT RGB LIGHT 8MM STRING, one string of ** 50-CT RGB LIGHT C9 STRING and four strings of ** 25-CT G50 RGB LIGHTS from ***** **** *********** *****. I proceed to hang the light on December 1, 2022 and the lights looked beautiful. the next four nights, the lights began to act on their own. Some of them lighting, others never coming on, some blinking multiple color. On December 5, 2022 at 6:27pm I reached out and emailed the company attaching the requested information and pictures. I received an email that said I would be contacted within 3 business day. Three business days past, so I sent a follow up email, but the email address is not monitored. I repeated the process from step one again attaching photos, my receipts, and model and plug numbers. As of today I have yet to hear from the company. Lowes where I purchased the lights will not let me return the items. These lights have never worked as advertised and the company offers no support for the defective product.Initial Complaint

On 12/16/22, I purchased a ** ** ** **** color changing LED snowflake. I checked with 2 employees to be sure that what I was buying was complete since there was no box. They assured me it was. I plugged it in at the store to be sure the lights turned on before buying. I would not be hanging the snowflake this year as decorations already out. On Christmas, I was showing a friemd the light and kept on for a while when I noticed the snowflake would keep changing colors and styles. It was then that I tried to research the snowflake myself and discovered there should have been a remote with it to set the color you choose! I went to ***** on Dec 26. They refused a refund, even though I had my mother with me who witnessed my questioning to be sure all parts were included in my unboxed item! I paid $50 for this star that I now found out, won't work correctly without the remote. I spent over an hour with the customer service employee and ** Nicolas Holiday support where we sent pictures of receipts and all information needed. I was told they would be sending me the remote by the associate at ***** on Bay Area BLVD. She said once the filed, the compamy would send me the remote. I did get the automated email when the report was sent to GE Nicolas Holiday (sent as attachment). It says that I woudl receive a response in 2 days, which has not happened. I could not reply to the automated email. This is exhausting with a company who is connected specifically to ***** for this product. I offered ***** to give my money back or get me the remote. 12/05/2021 I purchased a pre lit christmas tree from ***** in ** ***** **. When I opened it this year to set it up I found the top of the center section was dark. in that those set of lights where no working. I fond in inspection if I play with the wire there is a short by bending the wire the lights would light and when I let go the lights would turn off. I called ge holiday lighting at * ************ the gentleman i spoke to took all the info found my registration of the purchase and said I would get a new center section to replace the defective section. however they wanted me to fill out thier online form. I couldn't complete it since the scan code numbers that are required are displayed on the original registration form that i sent in along with the sales receipt. On another call to them to explain my dilemma, they insisted on a copy of the receipt . So I called ***** corporate and emailed it to them as requested. on both occasions I was informed via email I would be contacted within three business days. I was never contacted. I followed up yet again only to be told I would be sent a set of lights to replace the defective set. However. this tree has integrated wiring on each branch so replacing the lights cant be done. Additionally I am not willing to light a tree with a shorted lighting system potentially causing a fire. Since the initial contact I now have other lights that are blinking at random. and they are not supposed to be. the tree consists of three sections. so now I have issues with all three sections. I asked for a replacement tree, or a credit. None of which they are willing to do. other send a set of lights that I will not accept and told them not to send them to me, as their way of saying they fulfilled their warranty. They have not. I contacted ***** corporate customer service at * ************* Once to get a copy of the original receipt and today to file a complaint about the company and to see if I had recourse for a credit or a replacement. they were not willing to do anything but call the company on my behalf. which they did while I was on hold. they blew off ***** as well. This tree was $486.00 that worked for two months. To treat consumers this poorly is not acceptable. Do you think the BBB can help with this between ***** and Nicolas holiday?Customer Answer
