I am extremely disappointed with the service provided. This company is taking advantage of people who genuinely want to learn about their heritage. I spent $275 for my husband to receive a certificate stating his paternal genetic ancestry is with People living throughout ****** but provided no detailed information about his paternal African heritage. So African Ancestry claims they offer all this great insight into his heritagereally?? its all playing on peoples emotions. Funny how my husband had another DNA test from a "white"company that broke out his Heritage and all the countries in ******. This company is a scientific sham, preying on the curiosity and desires of individuals seeking to understand their roots. Their service is overpriced and lacks substance and no scientific value. I strongly advise against using them and believe they should be shut down for their exploitative practices. DO NOT waste your money. Look for reputable companies that provide detailed and meaningful results.

African Ancestry does single lineage testing, which means that we look ONE branch of your family tree and we test that one branch by looking at maternal and/or paternal DNA, unlike other companies that look at your entire genome which they report in percentages. These do not make it clear where in your family tree the result is coming from i.e. maternal or paternal. This is a common misunderstanding and like this scenario, causes some upset when the result doesnt come back the way the test taker wanted.In this case, your husband chose to take our PatriClan test, which has a 35% chance of coming back non-African. We state this possibility in multiple places on our site, but especially in the product description. Also, during the kit activation process, which your husband successfully completed on 3/11/2024, there are three acknowledgements that must be accepted in order for activation to be complete. One in particular called Important Acknowledgements PatriClan Results specifically states directly that there is a 35% chance of the dna not being found in ******, followed by a request to click I Understand which was selected. Our customer service team has also attempted multiple times to explain the results and how this happens.We understand how frustrating this situation must have been for you, and we regret any inconvenience it caused.
