I had a procedure done on Dec 20, 2021. At the time, my insurance paid this and the transaction was over. However, over 6 months later, the practice has billed me $481.25 (minus my already paid $30 copay). When asked for verification of this bill via an insurance claim number, the practice gave me P1001810280, which is not a claim number. They keep claiming they are escalating my issue but they have done this 3 times and have never gotten back to me with an adequate answer for why they are suddenly charging me this balance after they have already been paid. They said my insurance company randomly "recouped" the payment on 6/22/22, even though my insurance company denied this and my insurance plan that originally paid them, expired at the end of 2021. We have clearly not reached a resolution and it was allegedly on the supervisor's radar, which is why I was surprised to see that my bill had been sent to a debt collector. They put on their bill, in their own words, that I would not be sent to a debt collector until 2/22/23. The reference date from the debt collector was 1/30/23. When notified of this, they said they would pull the bill out of collections on 2/7/23. I received a call from that very collection agency today (2/13/23). Not only have they been unresponsive to me, but rather than trying to solve the issue, they are going against their own documentation and sending me prematurely to a debt collector for a bill they have already been paid.

I have been a patient of GW Medical Facility Associates for about 7 years. Last year, I had a routine annual test that came back inconclusive due to the doctor not collecting enough of a sample. He said to come back in a few months and complete the test again. I came back, completed the test and everything went smoothly. A month later, my doctor retired. A month after that, I received a bill in the mail for the second test. I immediately called the office as this was a retest due to doctor error and I should not have been billed. The GWMFA billing department said they could not help because I needed to speak to the department billing department directly. For the next year, I emailed, called, and left messages across all platforms including their online portal. In total, I spent over 15 hours trying to get in contact with the correct people. I never had a single message returned. I finally left a **** review which got me in contact with their customer service team. The team member confirmed that I did in fact have a case and had been double billed for the same service. Unfortunately, a few weeks later the same team member called to tell me she was leaving the company but another team member would be taking over my case. One month later, I received a bill from a collection agency for the amount. GWMFA has a complete lack of disregard for its customers and has no problem forcing patients to pay bills that they do no owe. As a patient I have felt like I have no control or way to fight this bill and their lack of response. I have since ended my relationship with the office and will not be coming back.
