I moved out of ************************ apartments, an apartment managed by UIP companies, on July 13, 2023. I have asked well before I moved out to have my rent adjusted for the prorated rent, but it has not. I was told by ************, the assistant community manager, it should be adjusted on the day I moved out. It was not, instead it is showing I owe more than $2,000. I have tried to call and email people from the company who could help me and no one answers their phones or responds to emails except for ****, and she only responds to push me off on someone else. I am highly frustrated with the service they have given and I am tired of still having to deal with this even though I am no longer a resident.Initial Complaint

I have been charged for electric which is supposed to be included in my rent. The charges are up to over $600 including late fees. I also have multiple repairs but I cannot get ahold of anyone from any number affiliated with UIP. I have been trying for over 3 months now to contact the leasing office with no success. Rent has been paid on time every month.Initial Complaint

Since moving into this UIP property less than six months ago, we've faced a myriad of issues even though it's "newly-renovated" and therefore at an escalated rent price of nearly $3,000 a month. One of the worst issues has been the persistent water outages. These come without warning or explanation and no compensation or any effort from the building to ease the discomfort or stress. Since July, we've experience three outages, including a hot water outage that lasted five days. I've documented outages in writing on 7/20, 8/17 and 9/13. The building has only offered a $100 Amazon gift card to share between two tenants, which is a bare minimum. On this third instance, I emailed the building managers and their supervisor to request some explanation, compensation and a plan to show they were making an effort to prevent more outages. One manager replied claiming there was an email sent out about a possible outage tomorrow (there was not) and saying that since the water was fixed in one hour, it does not qualify for any compensation. This ignores the repeated water outages and their lack of effort to prevent them as a whole.I am seeking a $300 discount on our monthly rent next month or as soon as possible $100 for each outage so far. I am also seeking some kind of building plan to prevent future outages.Initial Complaint

My name is *******************************, I work for the ********** of ********* *******, and I am an honorably discharged Veteran. I moved in the apartment, *****************************************************, on May 16, 2022. When I initially came to this apartment to view it, I noticed that there were several repairs that needed to be completed. The leasing consultant, Ms. W*************, stated that the repairs and cleaning of the unit would be taken care of before I moved into the unit. To my chagrin, I moved in on May 16, 2022, I paid the security deposit and first month's rent on May 13, 2022, I saw that the apartment was not clean, the bathtub was filthy and had sawdust in it, the sink also had sawdust and the medicine cabinet didn't have the shelves assembled. In the kitchen, there was an inch of dust on the counters and stove, the bedroom, living room and kitchen floors were scuffed and filthy, the floors are made of wood. I was very angry and I told the Property Manager to have someone clean the unit, it was half-way clean, the apartment overall had a foul smell. Two weeks ago, the refrigerator broke down and I had to throw away about $75 dollars' worth of food, I was not reimbursed. Also, the leasing agent, ******************** told me the apartment was cable ready, I had to pay ******* $200 dollars to install cable wire. I would like to be reimbursed for $275 dollars' for the wasted food and extra cable bill expenses, also, I had a non-working smoke detector for almost four months, if a fire were to overwhelm the building, (I am on the fifth floor) I would not be able to get out or receive ***** or injuries. I am considering filing a lawsuit against UIP Companies Inc, for neglect, facism, narcissicism, and disrespect to a Veteran. I also want a formal apology and a free month's rent, ($1720.00) please advise and thanks in advance.Initial Complaint

On April 25th, 2022 I applied for a rental unit with UIP at their 1430 W st location. I decided to cancel my application after speaking with the property manager. In the process of applying I had to pay a reservation fee of 300 dollars, I was told after canceling my application that they were unable to issue a refund to the card I used but they would mail me a refund check and it will take 15-20 days. That time has passed and I have been calling, emailing, and texting the property manager and the company and they are not being responsive. The last text I received was on May 24th saying that they would look into it the status. I have texted and called almost every day and they are ignoring me. I would like the refund I was promised and for someone to reach back out to me.
