We contracted with ****** after finding him on Yelp to build a covered front porch on our home. The total job was quoted at $10,000, and ****** required a deposit of $4,500 to buy supplies and begin the work. Repeatedly we asked if a permit was needed, and ****** replied "no." Work began in July, including removal of siding, cutting existing concrete, and affixing wood "brackets" to the front of our home. However, days and weeks went by without hearing from ****** again. After several unanswered calls and texts, we had an inspector come by to evaluate the work in progress to determine it's worth so that we can calculate a numeric value to request be refunded to us. The inspector said that none of the work was usable, and that a permit is definitely required. After months of ****** continuing to not respond, we had to pay a large chain to come in to restore the front of our home by installing new siding in the front (the original siding is discontinued), which was more than the initial deposit we made to ******. We are seeking to be made whole and have our deposit returned to us. Recently, a young woman came to our home and identified herself as ******'s sister and indicated that he intends to repay us our deposit, but was out of town for a family emergency. She provided her telephone number, but again, after several exchanges with her, she, too, is now unresponsive. We want our deposit back.

On 10/13 met with Dan and discuss purchase and install of a storm door. We,agreed on a price of $550 for purchase and install. I paid him that amount and received a receipt. Job was to be done by 10/15. Contacted him on the 17th and he said he had fallen behind in his work.Called him on 17th he stated that door had to be special order and will be here Tuesday. Mean while will stop by Monday and install strip. Heard nothing from him till Thursday when I called him with no answer but he called back within three minutes. Stated he has door and described door as being a beauty. Also said he would install the door, the sash and stain door as a good will gesture Friday. Again no response from him till Monday when I called him and informed him that I had enough of the cat and mouse game he's playing and he stopped me in my tracks and stated that he would install the door between 3:30 and 4:30 today. It's now 7:18 pm. Still nothing.....10/30........2:34pm. Sent a text message in regards to my intentions of contacting a lawyer. 10/31., Received text at 00:34 stating reasons why I hadn't seen or heard from him. Text also stated he was coming after church to do installation. He showed up app. 14:30 with his son and a helper. Repaired latches, sash, lightly sanded door, removed old flashing for screen door, cleaned up molding by smoothing and filling wood blemishes. Went to install new door and realized it was too small. Cleaned up and took door back to exchange. Will return tomorrow... ( 17:45 ) He showed up app. 14:30 with his son and a helper. I found Daniels Contracting Houzz.com to consider mster bathrm reno. On 8/31/21 he came and inspected the job. We agreed on a $4500 fee as all materials required were already on site. On 9/1/21, ****** ********* (owner) came by with his crew (***** * ****) to begin work. He requested and received $1500 (chk) before anything cud be done. He instructed his crew to cut a drywall while he went to the store to pick up material. He returned 4 hrs later with another guy and a tile cutting machine. They left a few minutes later promising to come bk the next day to begin wrk. He was he a no show as promised and after several phone calls he reappeared a wk later with his 2 crew. They stayed for a couple of hours laying 5 tiles and left promising to return the next day. Again, he didn't show up the next day as promised but came back 9/28/21 worked for abt 4 hrs laying 8 tiles. He left and has not returned to the site. Calls to him were unanswered so I am hiring another company to complete job

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my complaint and have determined that this does not resolve my  issue.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I can barely understand what he has written and the little that I decipher, he is clearly not telling the truth. Assuming we agreed that he will work in the afternoons, he showed up twice in the afternoon, once after 3:00 and worked until 6;30pm. The last time he worked he put up 7 tiles (12X24) and actually tiled over my bathroom AC vent. Since then all calls to him have been answered with excuses upon excuses. After a week or so we decided that we were not going to work with him anymore and demanded our deposit. After demanding our deposit he then promised to come with his crew everyday to complete the work. With his shoddy work and lies we concluded enough was enough and demanded our deposit which he has refused to do.

      Thank you
