1) Navient is on my credit report 10 times from January to present. 2) I received a Full Disability Discharge in April and also while I applied there was supposed to be a hold nothing negative while processing. Nothing was due Navient per Supervisor Isaac. Navient shouldn’t be charging interest either while application was being processed for Disability Discharge. 3) Navient should stop charging interest.Business response

Navient has violated me under The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) 15 U.S.C 1692 through harassment and abuse, coercion, and defaming my character by repeated phone calls. They have called me nonstop every day. As proof shown attached, they have called me 15 times in 6 days. I have spoke to them telling them I am on disability and only get paid once a month and that paying them on time is impossible. That I will always be a month behind or more, depending on bills for food, water, mortgage, lights. Yet they still call constantly knowing my situation. It has affected mentally and physically and the stress of their constant calls has trigger some of my Lupus flares.Business response

Dear BBB, I just received my third denial from Navient regarding a private student loan that was issued to me in 2008. Since then, I have been on an interest-only payment plan. The total loan was approximately $24,000 and to date I have paid over $20,000 in interest only, though my principal balance remains the same. The reason I am requesting assistance from the BBB is due to the fact that in 2008 I had a cosigner for this private loan. In the past 5 years, I have submitted three separate applications to remove the cosigner from this loan so I can take full ownership. Navient continues to deny this request stating I have not made sufficient payments to meet requirements to release the cosigner. I plan to pursue consolidation for this loan, however, since I am not primary on this loan, I have limited access and options to do so. Subsequently, my relationship with the cosigner has deteriorated to the point of them threatening legal action against me due to the constant and frequent calls/notifications/updates from Navient and their disappointment in my ability to repay the loan. I am writing to ask for assistance in advocating for me to be able to take full ownership of this loan given my history of consistent interest-only payments. As a side note, interest only payments between 2010-2015 were below $100 per month. In the past 5 years, they have increased to 175-350 per month for interest only. Given that I have paid over $20,000 in interest, my principal balance remains the same so you can imagine how frustrated I have been. The reason I have not been able to repay this loan is because I am still in graduate school working on my doctorate and am paying tuition. Any help or assistance in helping me resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely,Business response

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my complaint and have determined that this does not resolve my issue. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. **In order for the bureau to continue to assist you, you MUST provide your view on the matter or your complaint will be closed as answered. I read through the response by Navient, which was just reiterating the same information they have given me. Why I am rejecting their response is because I cannot fathom why the $20,000+ that I have made in interest payments is not sufficient of an amount "equal thereto" to be able to qualify for removing a cosigner. My consistent payments on this loan have shown that I am able to manage this loan without the original cosigner. Though I was pleased that Navient at least addressed the topic of unpaid interest, I will have to reach out to Brooke Krebs directly to discuss exactly how much interest will be applied to the principal balance. Ultimately, this written response is not what I was hoping for, which was providing a means of removing my original cosigner to take full ownership of my private loan. If the BBB has any other suggestions for me on how to proceed, or guidance on similar cases like mine, I would greatly appreciate it. Regards, Complaint ID: 21442285Business response

Navient has violated me under The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) 15 U.S.C 1692 through harassment and abuse, coercion, and defaming my character by repeated phone calls and mail correspondence to collect this alleged debt. Navient has sent me correspondence by mail using obscene and abusive language through coercion demanding I pay this alleged debt or threatening to sue me. I have submitted a Notice of Dispute for verification of this alleged debt and my remedy to resolve this dispute but have not received the verification or remedy. Navient is in violation of 15 USC 1692a(6), 15 USC 1692b(5), 15 USC 1692b(2), 15 USC 1692e(2)(A), 15 USC d(1), and 15 USC 1692j(a). Resolution: Navient needs to mail admissible documentation of this alleged debt to me for verification. If they cannot provide valid verification, then the alleged debt is considered null and void and needs to be completely erased from their system and my credit report, as well as stopping the collection reporting to the credit bureaus. They will also need to do the same to any other responsible parties involved in this alleged debt such as the co-signer. Also, Navient was sent an invoice of fees for payment to be mailed by check to me due to the violations they committed against me in their correspondence under FDCPA 15 U.S.C 1692.Business response

Better Business Bureau: Navient needs to follow my instructions by mailing their response to me per my original request/Notice of Dispute letter. NOT THROUGH EMAIL. Once I received their response through the mail, then I will formally respond to them about their discrepancies on this matter. Until then this response is invalid. I don't know why Texas wasn't included in the lawsuit against Navient because everyone should have been included in a lawsuit against Navient. I have paid on a $15k loan for school for 16 YEARS because unless I pay at least $300 and some change, all I am paying is interest, every payment. Of course, when they told me I could defer they just added more interest to the pot. Like another $1k for four months. This is asinine. The student loan I have with the government is being paid with the principal going down accordingly. Navient is crooked, greedy, and I want my account to refect that I have paid more than I owed and they have still made plenty off the interest.Business response

For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. **In order for the bureau to continue to assist you, you MUST provide your view on the matter or your complaint will be closed as answered. I did say that I did not understand why Texas wasn't included in the lawsuit against Navient. I was not asking to be included or for adjustments to be made on behalf of the lawsuit. I'm merely stating that this account that started out as Sallie Mae, then went to Brazos, then ended up as Navient is absolutely predatory lending and the practices within should be considered, too. I'm well aware of the paperwork I received. My point of complaint was that Navient is a greedy, predatory lender who takes full advantage of people by telling them there is no harm in taking a forbearance or deferment, which yes, I did do on a few occasions because I was a single mother raising a kid and working 40+ hours a week to keep her needs met. I was able to work that job bc of the school loan that Navient has held over my head for 17 flipping years now. Navient charged over $900 in interest for four months deference on less that $15k loan at the time. I've paid for the loan, except they just put it to interest. I've had loans that were 4x time amount and they were paid off in 5 years because they were FAIR and not thieves who took all the interest and never put money towards the principal. Now my child is going to college and not only will I pay as much out of pocket as possible, she will stay as far away from anything remotely involved with Navient - who are indicted crooks in some states but not in others? Funny how that works. Regards, Complaint ID: 21346658Business response

I consolidated my loan. But Navient said I owed a balance and reported me to the credit bureaus in December 2023. I have since paid the amount even though when I called the representative said all my loans were consolidated. I have called several times to receive a letter saying the balance that was reported was paid to no avail. I have also requested that the credit bureaus be informed which also hasn't happened. I feel this is predatory behavior. My loans were consolidated but yet this company still come after me for money and reported me.Business response

I have been paying on 6,000 pvt loan since 2008. I have always paid with my checking(ach). I now owe over 7,000 for loan. They offered a reduced interest rate for 6 months. I agreed now since 12/14/2023 I have been trying to make payment. Navient says my bank rejected as return to sender. I contacted my bank amd they never charged me an nsf fee for returned item which is their potocol. I called and set up payment again on 12/27/23. The monies have not been taken from my account. I am using same ach information that Navient has taken money from as recent as 11/2023. Now navient says they can't insure my payment unless I give them a debit card. I set another payment ACH again and.money is nit coming out this is effecting my credit report. I have been paying them for almost 10 years and they just now offer a lower interest rate and now they can't collect my money. My credit union does not see them attempting to take money since 11/2023. Seems suspicious when I was paying 20% interest payment came out routinely now that I may can get ahead they can't accept my form of payment when it hasn't changed in 15 yearsBusiness response

Good morning,. The reply from Navient was exact the reason I filed the complaint. Navient harrassed me while I was not able to make a payment and in deferment with Sallie Mae. I paid them over $4,000.00 and the loan was a bad loan from a school that was shut down. I am entitled to a full refund. And they are trying to say they are not paying me what they owe me by law.
