This company utilizes deceptive advertising! On April 29, 2024, I purchased a $200 gift card for my brother in ****, *******. I purchased the higher amount because Benihana advertised that the sender would receive $60 in Benihana gift cards. Starting in early May, when I did not receive my gift cards, I sent an email to customer service inquiring about my promo gift cards. It is now mid June (6 weeks later) and I have sent 9 separate emails, with copies of my AMEX receipt and my brother's email from Benihana acknowledging receipt of the $200 gift card and not one of my emails have been answered??? Benihana is just ignoring my inquiries?? This is deceptive marketing to get people to buy the higher gift card amount without providing the sender with the promised benefit.Review from Linh M.

What a nightmare experience at the North Bay Village, FL location. We came here to celebrate my friends bday, and her sons bday on 3/21/24. We arrived at 8:30pm and were seated within 10 mins, it took 25 mins for our server to greet us, 45 mins later for our water, 35 mins later for our soup/salads, then 30 more mins for the chef. It was now 10:45pm. A customer at our same table asked the server (********) for a manager 4 times but no manager ever came. When the chef pulls out his spatula, it goes flying across the table, shatters a glass cup that slices the bday girls finger in 2 places and also left her shirt soaking wet. Finally a manager Cesar comes to our table, only to give her a bandage. The chef continued to cook even after breaking a glass cup on the table. He did not know who ordered what and was putting the wrong food on the wrong plates. I asked for veggie fried rice and he let pieces of chicken mix into the rice, (I'm a pescatarian) so he just picked out the chicken and continued to serve it to me. The veggies were burnt/soggy. When I asked for the mushrooms, he said they ran out. Her son wanted chicken fried rice, no veggies, he still made it with the veggies. My bf never got his chicken. Once the chef finished cooking, I look over at the table next to us and see their chef cooking mushrooms. We complained to manager Cesar who had no idea how to handle the situation. So he calls over GM ****** ****** who was an absolute nightmare. We asked for a small discount off our bill of $506.73 to compensate for an awful experience, especially after she was injured at the table by the chef. Mr. ****** refused to help us in any way and called the cops on us. My friend had a bday certificate for her meal, he refused to honor that. The security was very rude and threatened me when I went back inside to get a copy of my check. We left all our food at the table and still had to pay for it. Do Not WorK for this company. The General Manager, the floor Mgr & the head Boss who is in charge of this restaurant does not give you your tips on the next day. They embezzle all the tips into their pockets. They will make a million excuses & keep asking you to come back for it another day. They are dishonest woman named ***** *************************** All from *****. ******** & then falsify my W-4 forms on my tips for my tax income. These people are reporting fake Tips on my W-2 & expect me to lie on my my incone tax for tips never received??? Please go arrest these rude & nasty embezzlers. We had a reservation for 7:15 pm on January 15, 2024. We were there for my son’s 12th birthday who has a mental disorder. It took 40 minutes for us to be seated. Then we were told we would have to wait 15 more minutes for them to find two people to sit at our table. The soup was served cold in a warm bowl 20 minutes after the salad which was also terrible. At 9:30 pm, after watching several customers come and go. I asked for a manager to ask how much longer would the wait be for a chef to come to our table. The manager became very hostile and disrespectful stating that we weren’t the only ones that had to wait two hours to be served. The Chef finally came out and started to also become very hostile and verbally disrespectful to me in front of my children and other customers at the restaurant. I asked the Chef several times to stop because my kids started to cry. Instead, he became more aggressive. I asked the manager why he was allowing the Chef to treat me any my children like that and he stated that he didn’t have anything to do with it. They made us feel so afraid and uncomfortable we decided to leave. The manager refused to provide his name nor return my son’s birthday coupon but provided the Chef’s name. *******. This was the worse experience I ever had at a restaurant. My son’s birthday was ruined and he cried all the way home. The situation caused him to have an anxiety attack. People were recording the incident and I will do everything in my power to make this go viral so that this doesn’t happen to anyone else.Review from Kimberly H

I made reservations for my daughter and I for Xmas day at 2 oclock. We arrived 5 minutes early and were sat right away. The waitress came and took our drink orders, appetizers and entree orders all at once. When she came back, 10 minutes later, my daughters drink was wrong & she didnt have mine. We waited so long a couple sitting at the table went to the bar to get more drinks. I had to ask for my drink 2 more times and when it arrived it was disgusting. We waited for over an hour before deciding to leave. We didnt get even get out appetizers! Some member of the staff brought soup we think wad meant for our table and that was it. Nobody came to check on us, refill drinks or clear away dirty glasses and bowls. A gentlemen sitting at our table cleared our table and took the dirty stuff to a bussers cart. I was still charged over $20 for 2 drinks that were not correct or even consumed! THE MANAGER CHARGED ME!! Neither of the 2 managers I spoke with cared we were leaving. I went back 2 days later and asked to be reimbursed for this drinks. He took the receipt and said sure, itll be in your account in **** days. I asked him what happened? Why did we wait that long and the grill wasnt even turned on? He shrugged his shoulders and said I dont know. I said really? Thats it? You dont care that after an hour we left hungry and had to scramble to find some place open to eat? He said its my first week here and looked away. This place used to be amazing! Great food and customers were treated well. Now its a joke. I called and filled out a form online - nobody followed up. Burlingame location completely a joke GM is the worst worst person this Benihana's I don't understand how they can have a female woman like this run this place she's running it to the ground. People are always arguing sending food back. She's very self-destructive. She does not know how to deal with customer cops are always at this location. People are running out all she does is pick up the phone call the calls the police somebody wants to file a complaint with her all she wants to do is run away from the issue she needs to go. I don't understand how the corporate office has hired some idiot that is running this place.. another manager that's underneath her her name is **** she she causes a big scene they overcharge for cocktails if you ask for a little bit more they want to add another **** additional cocktail ***** $32 with no alcohol in it order the chicken fried rice no chicken people that are working at this establishment have no experience or skills in cooking. This is a waste of money warning do not go to this Benihana's. I'm surprised the corporate office has not gotten rid or fired this woman. She is terrible at her job and customer customer. If I was the corporate, I would get rid of the women. If I could rate this establishment below 0 I most definitely would. I have never left a review in my life, but this will be my first due to my experience last night. I arrived here around 7:30 pm. I didn't have a reservation so I was told that it would be about an hour to an hour and a half wait, which was fine because there were a lot of people waiting. Me and my mother, just a party of two, waited at the bar. While we were waiting we received an open table link that said we were reserved for 8:45 pm. When it was 8:45 we went up to the hostesses and they said that we would be seated with the next table. We did not get seated until 9:30 pm. Once we were seated, it took 30 minutes for someone to even come to our table to see what drinks we wanted. As we were waiting, there were multiple tables that sat down after us that received their drinks and had a chef before us. It took an hour after being seated just to receive our drinks. A chef finally had came to our table around 11 pm, which the show was awfully boring and the food was rushed and orders were placed incorrectly. By time the food was done, the whole table was just ready to go and barely ate as it was approaching midnight. It even took long to receive our checks and when we did there was no curtesy due to all of the inconveniences that had transpired and we were also overcharged with multiple mistakes added to our tab. We ended up leaving after midnight so the review was not left last night because I got home very late. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant and I hope that no one else has to go through what all we went through with this establishment. It was an absolute zoo. NEVER AGAIN! I absolutely enjoyed nothing out of this experience. It was the absolute most terrible experience ever in life at this restaurant. I can't stress this enough.Review from Geniar M

On Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at approximately 1:30 PM you can watch the cameras I walked inside Benihanas ********** *********************************************************. The hostess greeted me and I asked her for a manager. Told her that I had applied online and was following up to see if they were hiring she told me to hold. She was going to go get a manager for me. I sat down and waited for about 30 minutes. She came back and said, let me go tell him again waited another 30 minutes. Which is now 2:30 PM. I stand up and ask her is everything OK? Is the manager available today and she says that I should maybe come back another time so I asked her what was the name of the manager who she asked to come out for the past hour and she says his name is ****** the short man with the uniform on. Hes Also a cook mind you when I walked in the party that ****** had to cook for was waiting for another family member to show up and that took about ***** min. The hurtful part is ****** came out, stopped right by the hostess desk, and kept on walking but never said one word to me acknowledged the fact that I was sitting there anything I guess my blackness is not good enough to serve the people in that community. If I never got up to ask the hostess was everything ok I still would be waiting. This establishment does not want black women of color to serve only host. I am a clean honest individual that looking for a job before the holidays to provide for my family. I felt degraded. I wish this feeling on no one I felt like a nobody for over an hour just for a manger to come out look at me and chose to not even acknowledge me. I must express profound disappointment and palpable frustration with our recent dining experience at Benihana. The entire meal felt like a series of unfortunate events. To begin my shrimp was so charred it was nearly inedible. More bafflingly, our cook felt it apt to throw food at us, a gesture neither entertaining nor appropriate.My sister clearly informed the cook of her mushroom and shellfish allergies, yet he carelessly used the same utensils for her dish, causing an immediate allergic reaction. My brother tried, multiple times, to clarify his order, only to be ignored; the cook placed what he deemed fit onto his plate.I ordered the trio, and while he confirmed my order, he only gave me shrimp and steak. I expressed to him that I didn't receive my chicken, but was met with an attitude. He questioned why I didn't clarify at the start. I reminded him that I had indeed specified my order when he initially asked, and it was even written down on the order sheet he was using. Despite the evidence he seemed uninterested in rectifying the oversight and continued to display a dismissive demeanor. This lack of attention to detail and blatant disregard for customer communication left me deeply frustrated and tainted our entire dining experience.The indifference continued when my niece and her father requested double rice, only to be met with evident reluctance. And later when I inquired about sauce, the response came with a touch of disdain, suggesting such requests should have been made at the outset.We were visiting Benihana was to celebrate my niece's dance competition success. But the evening was anything but celebratory. As we were leaving, hoping to address our concerns, I asked the hosting stand for additional contacts or a manager. They vaguely suggested calling back the next day, all while standing around, exuding a palpable disinterest.Given this regrettable and frustrating experience, I firmly believe seeking a refund is both appropriate and warranted.Review from Joshua R

On 10-10-23, my Family and I went here around **** to eat dinner for my 46th. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately which was awesome, but then it went sideways to say the least. Another family arrived to the table which was fine. However, after 20 to 30 minutes roll by and NO staff at all came by to even ask everyone at our hibachi table on what beverage we would like. The place wasn't even busy. Our table was one of four tables that had guest; the rest of the place was empty, so there shouldn't have been any issues; but this wasn't our case. My family and I were done at this point. We all stood up and left. The Hostess only then informed the on-duty Manager that Five Guest were leaving. The Manager did run out to the parking lot to ask what happened. I advised her of the lack of service which left a bad taste (so to speak) about how terrible it is to have to wait for almost 30 minutes just for drinks let alone be able to order any food. The Manager did apologizes and offered coupon vouchers but I advised that still wouldn't fix the problems. I can recall that Benihana used to be the place many would want to go eat at and it was hard-pressed to get in; but last night proved me wrong and my family. Needless to say, we took our business to **** (on *******) and had much better experience.
