This company is a scam! They promised to communicate with all of my creditors and reach a settlement of atleast 40% and get me totally debt free within 5 years. I paid them almost $700/month ($684.72) for over a year. They never reached out to all of my creditors... so on February 8, 2023, these creditors started filing lawsuits against me. Cordoba promised me "its going to he okay -- they are just using scare tactics" and that "I was covered". They lied. Cordoba never even responded to the courts within the mandatory 30 days. I was calling them constantly. They even lied and told me they had responded. The lawsuits kept coming and I currently have 5 total. Of those 5, I currently also now have 2 judgements against me (since Cordoba never responded). Cordoba's response to all of this? I needed to pay them over $800 the very next day (this phone call was around 4:00p)... and I needed to sign another contract with them, agreeing to pay $1500/month!!!!!! I am a single mom that was barely making it, as it was... and they knew this! Cordoba Legal will talk a great game... and I truly believed they were a legit company because of all the positive reviews. ****, I even gave them several... as they were incredibly pushy about me writing one when I would call them with a question. Consumers need to know what will ultimately happen if they continue working with Cordoba!

*******, we are sorry to hear that you are upset as we strive for 100% satisfaction with all our clients and have over **** five-star reviews. We are very confused about what you are referring to and the claims you are making. You signed up with our firm with 12 creditors and 5 of them have already been settled, putting you ahead of the schedule we set out with you. Two of your creditors we settled were suits. We have the settlement docs from those suits that we can once again go over with you. On the suit you claim we did not respond in time, you were served on 2/7 and you waited to send us the suit to 2/28, but even with this big delay in getting the docs to us, our attorneys still got that case settled. The issue you did not mention in your review is that you stopped making payments back in March leaving less funds available for the settlements and diverting from the plan set up for you. And as explained to you, any funds needed do not go to the firm or the firms fees, they only go to your settlement. We also have an abundance of communication with you. Included in that communication was the firm calling you literally twice a day with no answer to resolve the payment issue for your settlements, but those calls were not answered. You unfortunately have five suits and the firms lawyers handled them all and outline the plan to resolve them all. If you would like to go over it with us and clear up any confusion, please give us a call anytime.

      Complaint: 20178869

I am rejecting this response because: its not true. I called them immediately when I received each &every lawsuit and even uploaded copies into their portal. I called them numerous times. I have all of this documented and can provide proof. I was 100%current on my payments.
Once they stated I needed to give them $800 by the next morning and then my payment would go up to $1500, I was done with them. I told them I could not pay that. They had a "settlement" but it was not at the 40%they promised, required me to pay enormous amounts that I did not have and it was outside of the original contract and wanting me to sign a revised contract.  The rep then stated we could "only settle" the ones from Feb (their excuse for waiting until the end of *** was so they could get settlements from all 5 lawsuits), and my payment would "only" go up from $684.72 to $944.62. I did not sign as I could not afford this... it was outside of the original contract... and then I still had 3 pending lawsuits that were not taken care of. I immediately called my bank to block them from taking any further payments and also disputed my *** payment, so they took back payment (which I made on time) from Cordoba.

I have proof of everything. The "new" contract they sent over... screenshots/emails from me communicating with them... and even screenshots showing every time I uploaded documents into their portal when I received the lawsuits.

      Sincerely,

      *****************************

We understand you are upset, but what you are claiming is simply not true. We settled the suits that you received, one you only sent a photo of and we needed the full suit sent, it  took almost a month for you to send that one in. Along with two other debts you had. We also communicated to you on every step and we have documentation on all our communication with you. As stated in the contract, we estimate a savings plan, but that is an estimate. In a lot of cases that estimate is accurate. In your case you received five suits to defend and settle, and your estimated payment was not enough, there was no promise of 40%, it states in the contract that 40% is an estimate. The increase we talked to you about was 100% for your settlements, not one cent extra was for the firm, and you did not need to come up with anymore money for legal fees, nor were any extra charged. There is no scam here, our firm has helped thousands of clients, that is why we have so many 5 star reviews. Your case, due to having so many law suits needed more money above your estimate for your settlements, and the fact that you stopped making payments in March and reversed your April payment did not help this. These are the facts, our lawyers defended your suits and got settlements but the estimated payment was not enough to cover the settlements, so you needed more funds for these settlements. I am sure your outcome would not be different with another firm considering you had five law suits to defend, as our lawyers worked hard to achieve the best possible settlements.

      Complaint: 20178869

I am rejecting this response because: they are, again, not telling the truth. In their first response, they stated I never notified them of the lawsuit timely... now they are backtracking and stating that I only submitted one page? That's not true. I called them, several times a week (as I shared in my previous response with attachments). Each time they told me they had everything they needed... because they did. Cordoba Legal did not respond to the courts within the 30 days required, on any of my 5 lawsuits - just like they did not notify all my creditors that I was working with them. As far as my creditors were concerned, I just quit paying my bills (which I have never done!).

      Sincerely,

I signed a contract with Cordoba Legal Group for credit reconsolidation last May, 2022. I was informed that they would be aiming for me to pay out only about 40% of the total credit card debt that I was in. I was assured that I'd be paying a total amount of $11,848.20. The company was unable to achieve a settlement lower than 40%, and so my monthly fee went up. I continued to pay this higher amount and was then issued a new contract where they were requesting me to pay an additional $300 a month for a total of over $700 monthly. After doing the math of what I'd already paid them in addition to the remaining payments that were over $700 a month, I'd have paid them over $27,000. The debt that I was consolidating only added up to $19,000, so I canceled my agreement with them. They have a clause in their contract under paragraph 6, section C, stating that if I canceled my agreement with them, I would be refunded the entire amount that I have paid out, including attorney fees. I spoke with a woman last night who stated that this was inaccurate, despite me having this in writing in a contract that they created, stating they would only pay me back the money in escrow and that I would not be receiving the money back from the attorney fees. I have called them several times and they *********** not answer my phone calls now. They are in violation of their own contract and they have nearly $2,000 they are refusing to return to me, despite it being in writing that I was due this money upon canceling my agreement with them. I have attached the original contract that was signed, indicating the refund policy in paragraph 6, section C, as well as my own spreadsheet of the money I've paid to them. They are in violation of a contract that they themselves created, so I just want my entire refund but they're ignoring my phone calls, so I am filing a report with your agency in an attempt to get back the money owed to me. Thank you very much.

Cordoba Legal Group strives for 100% client satisfaction displayed by our thousands of 5 star reviews online. We have spoken with our client and resolved some of the confusion here including that we represented him in his issue with Discover and that the funds he was putting into the service was in his own account set up to pay the creditors directly. All funds requested have been refunded as per client request.

They stopped taking my calls never answered emails or texts. Not one thing did they do to help me in the end I ended up oweing the full amount of debt plus attorneys fee and court cost. Still today 4/17/23 I have not gotten an answer to my calls. They simply hang up after I explained why I'm calling. This is not proper in anyway you look at it.Thank you ***********************

******* we are very sorry to hear about your complaint as we strive for 100% satisfaction with all of our clients. But the facts that you layout are not correct. You had a legal account that our firm was going to represent you on. We asked you to confirm the account number for the account in question, since you have two accounts with the same creditor. You never confirmed the account numbers so we can determine which account it was. Our firm had plenty of time to respond to the suit since your due date was not until 6/19. Then you spoke to our paralegal ******* telling him you were going to represent yourself in court, our paralegal advised you that was a not a good idea and we were hired to represent you on this matter and you should be represented by a licensed attorney in your state, we just needed the correct info that you refused to give us. If you would've communicated with us, with the info needed we could've handled this matter for you, as this is what our firm was hired to do and represents clients on these matters regularly.

Cordoba Legal Group has not done what they told me they would do. Actual email from today: ****, ***** and CS, I hope all is well. I have filed a BBB complaint against your firm. This is the 9th request with no substantive response. **** the last time, the 8th request, was on April 6th. No one gets back to me. You didn't. First text then email is the best way to reach me. I need all the credit cards that you have managed with electronic statements for each card going back for 5 years to be provided by the credit card companies to me. My ex-wives divorce lawyer is requesting it. The responses are long overdue. These don't have to be hard copies. I have asked for over 6 months for these items and even have them copied by an attorney who has also confirmed the requirements. I am out of patients. The next complaint will go to the ************************* at the ************************* in the great ****************. When should I expect this stuff? It's urgent. If counsel requests legal fees for my non compliance I am holding your firm accountable. This lack of any response is beyond belief. I have previously told you as you have a limited power of attorney the credit cards that are close i.e. The US Bank won't speak to me. They require me to go through Cordoba. Please let's get this done immediately. It would help to have a formal letter that I can show the other side that you are working on this. Contact me today!Thank you very much,******************* ************

*****, we can understand your frustration in this situation. As you know we reached out the minute we received your complaint. The *** sent out by our office is a limited power of attorney which does not give Cordoba Legal Group the right to request statements or make any personal information changes on your accounts. After your phone conversation with our office we learned that this is for a creditor that is not included in our representation. This complaint is now closed with our office as this is regarding a creditor we do not represent you on nor did Cordoba Legal Group send a *** to this creditor.

I contracted with Cordoba Legal group to resolve my outstanding credit card debt. Initially speaking with them it would be a flat monthly payment. This flat monthly payment of $378.42 occurred for four payments between October 2022 and January 2023. Then I received notification that I needed to make additional contributions to my account to pay their steep legal fees. When I tried to get answers, no one could explain the process, the amounts, etc. that made any sense. To date they had made two payments of $218.00 to one creditor. So, out of the total payments of $1,513.68 a total of $436.00 was was paid to partially settle an account. In addition, each subsequent call results in different answers. I found the staff who answer the phones barely spoke, let alone understood English and thus communications were impossible. I decided to leave them and sign up with another debt resolution firm and that is going fantastic. Now that I have stopped using Cordoba Legal group, there is a balance of extra cash in my settlement account resulting from my contributions that I am told will not be refunded as they do not refund any money. The balance of their excess contribution cash is $305.82. This is my money that I am due back as there are no legal or debt resolutions being worked through them. I need assistance getting this excess contribution back. One thing that *** appear confusing is the attached client statement is from FORTH, this is the payment collection service that Cordoba Legal uses.

I signed with Cordoba legal group, LLC in September 2022.They were supposed to be a law firm that was going to negotiate settlements, on my unsecured debts from credit cards, ********** and others. They approved me for a loan for $20,410 which I was supposed to pay back with payments of $850.24 for the next 24 months. This is how was explained to me.So you as of October 14, I started paying the $850.42 by letting them directly with draw from my bank account, will they did that also for November, December and January. Total of $3401.68 On February 7 after, I will has an accident with my truck in January and I had to replace it. I found out that my credit score went from the 682 to 520 and I was not in able to afford new truck so I had to lease it a much higher rate due to my credit. So I called the company and ask them what's going on because they were due to take another payment on February 14 and I told them that I would not be making any more payments, and tell some of these companies were settled. They explained to me that this process takes time. But in the beginning in September they told me this would take only four to six months and then I would expect my credit to be getting better. Will they also told me that in all this time they were settling with my merchants credit card account. I can't tell exactly, but it looks like they may have paid merchants around $700. I also asked them where is this loan money that I was approved for, and why aren't you paying down the debt with that, I've come to find out that there is no loan there collecting money from me and based on how much money they have from me. That's what they using to negotiate my debtors. What I would except that is my money returned to me and and/or give me the loan money that I was promised and I will negotiate settlements on my debts. So either give me my $3401.68 back or in or give me the $20,410 and I will negotiate in with my debtors and I will continue paying you for 20 months $850.42.

We are sorry to hear that there was any confusion with your case, as we strive for 100% satisfaction. You were not approved for a loan as the retainer clearly states, you signed up with our law firm to help with your creditors, as the retainer agreement you signed outlines. We then went over exactly what our firm does and laid out any risks with you on a recorded line where you responded that you understood which is a requirement before the firm agrees to take on a client. This includes any credit score risks, which once again is in the retainer and we went over on a recorded line where you acknowledged these risks. We make sure all these critical points are ******* clear, that is why we do a double verification. You have called several times and each time it was to say you have not seen results, and we explained each time that you called that we resolved one of your debts already and were working on the others. On these calls with our office you did not mention any confusion about a loan. On our last call we went over our service and what we have done and you seemed to have understood. The good news here is we already settled with one of your creditors in a short amount of time and the firm was working on resolving the next one, putting us right on schedule for your case. With this being said, we are very sorry to hear you had an accident and hope you were not injured. If there is anything you need explained or shown on your case please feel free to call us anytime.

Our office has made numerous attempts to reach the ************* via telephone, email and ********** 3/15/2023 *************** responded to our sms with "stop" so we will cease communication.

We do have to address that we believe the confusion is the amount ************* believes was withdrawn from her account. She states it was an "excess of $3,000" which is not true. The amount withdrawn and placed into her own dedicated account was $2,383.19 (after stop payments/revoked auth/unauthorized) transactions. This entire balance has been returned to *************. We wish ************* would speak to us so we could be able to answer any misunderstandings. As of now this matter is closed with our office.

I had contacted a Advantage Loans, to get a debt consolidation loan, they approved me for a loan to take care of all of my debts and the lady was telling me that once we got all the paperwork filled out it would take them about 3 days and they would start calling all of my collectors to pay my debts off and then I would have one simple payment to them for about $426 a month so I accepted and I did the paperwork with the woman and then all of a sudden Advantage loans turned into Cordoba Legal Group Services where they call up your credit cards and negotiate settlements which is not what I thought I was applying for I thought I was simply getting a debt consolidation loan. I went ahead and I tried it anyway, the woman I spoke with acted like it was a very quick and simple process it wouldn't take very long she told me to stop all of my payments to all of my credit cards so they could pay them and I did as the woman told me to do and then she said she would touch base with me in about 3 or 4 days to let me know how the process was going. I never heard back from anyone so Within 7 Days of not hearing from anyone I contacted the number that they sent me in an email and I was given a foreigner who I did barely understand and I got a said that basically I have to make the first payment before they would do any debt consolidation so I made the first payment and now I've been waiting and it's been almost a month and they haven't paid anything my credit has been absolutely destroyed because of this and I have my credit cards and debt collectors now calling me because of this. When I tried to contact them by the email given, no one gets back with me I have sent numerous emails every single week trying to get someone to update me on the status of my payoffs when I call the number that they gave me I either get hung up on or they tell me I can hold my place in line and get a call back and I take that option and nobody ever calls me back. I have come to realize this is a scam.
