    I've tried reaching out to SPINES multiple times regarding my books, but they refuse to take them down for whatever reasons I can't understand, and it's incredibly frustrating. They are still getting paid what *** published and thats FRUAD i am currently working with a new publishing team, but l need my two books removed that SPINES published while I was with them. All I want is to move on from this situation, but they won't remove my previous books. My experience with this company has been very negative, and all I want is to put them behind me and find peace with my new publishing team. It's been a rollercoaster trying to connect with them; they keep leading me on and providing false information, and I'm simply tired of it.

    We replied to you multiple time that the books have been unpublished in our system which they have from July 2024. 
    As explained to you multiple time ****** hold the rights to still sell any book that was left in their storage which is why you still see the book on ******. Since we work in a POD (print on demeaned) process the copies Amazon have are returned books, you already received royalties for those books. 
    We have no control and cannot have ****** take the books down ,we have requested them to do so and were sent back their terms. This was explained to you again just a few days ago when you called our support number. 

    We understand the frustration but our hand are tied and there is nothing more we can do.

    We gain no profit or any benefit from being in this situation, if we had a different solution we would have done it by now.

    since you have all control and rights for you books you should easily publish your books again,

    They are making false claims and can request that ****** remove my books. My new publishing team has already released six of my booksthree in English and three in ********** they are aware of the various scams that have been occurring. Several other authors have transitioned from Spines to my current publishing team. My new team has informed me that Spines is spreading false accusations about their ability to remove my books from ******. Additionally, Spines has published my books on not only ****** but also on 50 other online stores; all of these need to be removed because I am no longer associated with Spines. They are misrepresenting their capabilities, and I require them to stop lying to me and take action immediately, or I will pursue legal measures against the company.

My books are still published on ******, and they have instructed me to contact Spines, as they are the ones who published my work. I am working to resolve this matter, and it seems rather unkind to close it while I was still trying to address it. Regardless, I wish you all the best, as I believe in karma, and I hope it returns to you for your decision to close the case.

    I haven't been with Spines for very long, but I had a terrible experience when I requested a new production manager. They canceled my subscription without my consent, and I should have taken legal action against them for not contacting me via email or phone. Now that I'm with a new publishing company, they are not planning to unpublished my previous books because I'm working with a new publisher. They keep playing games and being dishonest. All I want is for Spines Book Publishing to unpublish my earlier works so I can publish my new books with the new company. This whole situation is incredibly frustrating!

    On July 7, 2024, I was paying Spines Publishing to promote, market edit and publish my book The Dark Entity. As the months passed, I noticed that no one was buying my book, and I wasn't making any money it was like publishing a book and putting it on the bookshelf and no one knows that the book exists. I have asked several times about marketing and promoting my book and they could never answer my question about it, and they want to charge me more and they would have to republish it that's another fee. I don't like being taken advantage of and I want my account closed and I want a complete refund of what I put into it. Spines says they only refund for only a week, but this was an ongoing issue I tried to get a refund on my own and was unsuccessful. Or pay for what I owe to make up for the mistakes and unprofessionalism y'all caused me I would want promotion of the book and Marketing if you can't help me then I want complete refund from the first payment to now.

    you signed up with Spines in May 2024 to a monthly subscription of 90.55$ for production and membership. This subscription includes the production and distribution of your book, not marketing or promotion. We have a tool for digital marketing which you can find in your dashboard, it requires and initial investment of 500$ since less than that it's not affective to the campaigns. You can see in our terms and conditions that we don't promise sales or marketing besides metadata optimization which you received. 

    We do not publish books without the permission of the author, to do a revision is something that cost the company money which is way we charge a fee. 

     

    Regarding your payment For June and July you requested to not pay due to financial reasons which we allowed you, and against our policy continue working on your book and published it. 

    You continue paying for August then didn't pay for September, than paid again for October while buying a new package with us, for both packages there was no payment for November.

    This sums up to you paying Spines: 

    First book:
    First month: $62.40 (paid on May 29)
    Two months of $90.50 each:
    Second month: $90.50 (paid on August 28)
    Third month: $90.50 (paid on October 28)
    Total for the first book: $243.40
    Missing in payments: 362.2$ for June, July, September

    Second book:
    Only the first month (October 28): $74
    Missing in payments: 74$ for November 

    We can cancel both subscription with no extra charge or we can continue from this point and we will not charge you for June, July and September.

    Spines is a very dishonest organization. They broke the xontract, has poor perdormances. Lack the marketing skills. I took nk royalties yet expecting them to come up with a respectable resolution.

    I have paid Spines Book Publishing for a service and publishing, and they have not honored the services as stated on the website, I have not received what they claimed to offer as a business and asked for my money back, They refuse to pay the amount of $78 and ignoring my emails and calls. it has been going on for weeks, my book was supposed to be distributed on ******, *******, and *************************** et, but none of this has happened, in the meantime, they have tried to take money from my account, while the book has not been published yet, I had asked for an extension to fix my manuscript and the sales manager agreed but she did not notify the financial department. I spoke with an individual ***** from the financial department and he mentioned the money would be processed within 72 hours back into my account that's now over 3 weeks ago s ago, but he refused to pick up the phone and Spines is stonewalling my request. First, he mentioned the amount of $78 would be returned and then I received a text message that it was out of his hands that they were investigating ( clearly not giving me the service ) and that the refund goes by eligibility. they never pick up the phone and send automotive text messages on repeat.

    Hello,
    You initially signed up for a monthly production plan at $49 for 24 months, along with a $29 monthly membership fee. You made your first payment in July but then declined to pay any additional fees despite being informed that this would prevent your book from being published.
    As per our policy, we cannot provide services without payment. The plan you selected is a self-publishing package, meaning we supply the tools and platform for you to handle proofreading, formatting, and cover design. However, we went beyond this by offering proofreading assistance and making adjustments to your text as needed. Additionally, we created a custom cover, which you approved after final adjustments, bringing the book to a publish-ready stateall work completed despite pending payments.
    When it came time for publishing, we asked you to settle your outstanding balance which you refused leading to us not publishing your book.
    Despite voicing dissatisfaction, you also expressed interest in upgrading your plan to access additional services and even considered purchasing a new plan for a second book. For this second book, though payments were incomplete, you engaged in extensive communication with your account manager, including multiple emails and phone calls, receiving considerable support beyond what was covered.
    Our terms and conditions clearly state a seven-day cancellation period with a full refund. According to your own documentation, you raised complaints only after this period had elapsed in August. Also our cancellation policy requires full production payments past that set time which we did not require from you. 
    At this point and since you disputed the payment with your bank, we have no option of a refund at all.

    According to our agreement, Spines/ formally BOOX was to publish my book within 8-15 days. Unfortunately, this timeframe was not adhered to and I was scammed. When I expressed concerns about the delay, I was misled into believing that the book had been published and was live and sent a bogus link that shows unavailable which prove I was defrauded. Moreover, it appears that Spines/ BOOX Book Publishing is now attempting to withhold and stole the funds I paid for their services and will not answer any of my calls nor respond to emails nor text.The company's conduct has been characterized by a severe lack of communication and professionalism. Their failure to deliver the agreed-upon services and their apparent attempt to defraud me have caused significant distress. Despite having registered my book with a valid ISBN, Spines Book Publishings actions have deprived me of the proper service and led to financial ******* a result, I am demanding a full refund of the money I paid and am requesting that Spines AKA BOOX Book Publishing no longer handle my book.     I am rejecting this response because: I was never informed that my book was disapproved by ******, which was not true as my book had been approved by ****** last year by my contact before engagement with BOOX/Spine.

    ******* from Spines/BOOX called me on 09-17-24, at 5:40pm begging me to stay with their company, she promised to add the eBook at no charge of what I was promised originally, or she would provide a full refund if I decided not to stay with the company. I recorded these calls.
    ******, another representative, promised to send me 13 copies of my book, which I never received. When speaking with ******* on 9-17-24, she also provided false assuring me she was sending 13 free copies out 9-17-24 but sent me an email on 9-18-24 retaliating stating not going forward because I filed a complaint this was all to avoid sending my promised copies.

    The company fraudulent charged my credit card four times, but the services promised were never delivered.
    They mentioned market prices ranging from $1,500 to $17,000, which were never communicated to me I was given a fee of $1000

    There was a significant lack of communication once they stole my money my calls were not answered or returned.
    I had to fully edit my own book and provide my own book cover, contrary to the services promised by Spines/BOOX.

    I reported the fraudulent activity to my bank to prevent further fraud charges, and Spines/BOOX was blocked for their actions.
    The links provided by Spines/BOOX for my book on ****** & ***** and ****** are fraudulent after my constant calls and messages of concerns of fraud they sent me these links to make me believe they were doing something, but the links was bogus and didn't work they are full of excuses, deceit and lies. They started my book will be published on over ten platforms, but they never mention this in the response if notice they only mention the two bogus links.

    Firstly, regarding the approval process for book distribution channels such as ****** and *****************; *****, it is important to note that Spines/BOOX does not have control over the timing or outcome of the approval or disapproval decisions made by these platforms. If a disapproval occurs, our team of experts typically works to resolve the issue with the distribution channel. Unfortunately, this can sometimes result in delays that are outside of our control.

    Regarding your recent communication with ******* on 09-17-24, it is true that she reached out to resolve the situation and provided potential solutions to address your concerns, including the offer of additional services like the eBook at no extra charge or a full refund should you decide to discontinue our services. Despite her best efforts, it became apparent that we would not be able to meet your satisfaction, and she promptly informed the company's management of this situation. As a result, the management made the decision to stop any further processes with you.

    Concerning the 13 free author copies you were promised, we want to clarify that author copies can only be printed and delivered after the book has been successfully published. The process of sending copies cannot be initiated during the publishing process itself.

    Additionally, our management decided not to proceed with sending you the copies because you initiated a dispute with your bank for the amount you paid ($186.00) and blocked any further transactions from being processed. This action effectively froze the funds for 30 days, preventing us from accessing the payment. As a result, we cannot continue to fulfill services that would incur additional costs, such as the printing of free author copies or creating an eBook.

    To be clear, the amount of $186.00, which you claim to have paid, is currently frozen pending the outcome of the bank dispute process. The funds are held for a period of 30 days, and depending on the banks investigation, they will either return the money to you or send it back to us. This entire process can take an additional ***** days.

    Given that we have fulfilled 100% of the services that were paid for (including book distribution on the platforms), we are unable to process any further requests for services or issue a refund at this time. Once the dispute is resolved, should the funds be returned to us, we would reconsider further actions, but as of now, we stand by our decision.

    I am rejecting this response because: Dear Spines Team,
    Thank you for your response, but I need to make several things clear.
    This is not only a dispute over the refund of the money you wrongfully took but also a formal complaint regarding the fraud you have committed. You keep stating that you have no control over the process, but the core issue is that you never informed me of any of this from the beginning. Your primary focus was to take my money under false pretenses, and as your response has confirmed, you attempted to take further payments despite claiming the process would be paused. I have proof, which I will attach, that payments were supposed to be on hold if services were not being provided, as per your own statements.
    You are changing your story to suit your narrative, and your fraudulent actions are clear. Yes, I have spoken to my bank, and they advised me to initiate the dispute after reviewing the facts and seeing clear evidence of the fraud you've committed. If no services are being rendered, as you have repeatedly confirmed, why would you continue to pull payments? This is not only dishonest but unethical.
    Furthermore, in my recorded phone call with *******, she clearly stated that the books would process the same day. This only proves that your team is focused on misleading and taking advantage of hardworking authors. I have every right to dispute the charges given the misleading information, miscommunication, and outright fraudulent actions you have taken.
    Lastly, as required by law, I am demanding that you destroy all copies and materials related to my book. You do not have any rights to my intellectual property, and you are to cease any and all attempts to secretly profit from my work for your personal gain immediately. Your team has confirmed the login portal will remain open for any sales coming through but once again in your attempt to commit fraud and secretly sell my book without my permission removing access to portal. YOU DONT HAVE ANY PERMISSION TO SEE MY BOOK AND WILL BE HELD LIABLE.
    I look forward to a swift and appropriate resolution to this matter. As we are clear separation is clear.

    Remove MY book from all their platforms, and remove any claims of me owing them money. I'll settle for breaking even though it seems as a loss; I receive the $400 review they said they'd give, even though that seems to be completed by AI, the book cover design they did inspired me but that is all. I am unsatisfied because the company claimed I'd be on dozens or as I recall hundreds of platforms but only seem to appear on one, Amazon, which gives viewers my entire books content of volumes 1 and 2 and goes into 3. It is a negative value to have it there and I've tried to communicate this but received no response. I simply want everything to go away as if we didn't do business, they can keep the money, I'll self-publish, and received the 'mediocre' review. Besides that, there is no way for me to tell if I make any sells or not except to trust them as the middleman. I want out, I do not need to order any more books using their design, I'll make my own from 'inspiration' and buy my own logo, and I want the book OFF of Amazon so people can't read ~30+% of the book for free. The company should remove all ******** from my record and we can call it even ******. I had expectations of earning money by now but instead am on only one platform giving out free content of my hard earned writings.

    First, according to your subscription data, once your book went through the entire publishing processproofreading, cover design, formatting, and distributionyou paused the payments without ever informing us.

    Your book was published in May, and since July, you have failed to renew your plan. Despite this, you had already received the full range of services from us by that time.

    Regarding your concerns about Amazon: the fact that a portion of your book is available to be read is controlled by ******, not by us. All Amazon Prime users are able to preview a percentage of a book's content, which would also apply if you self-published. This is a standard feature of the platform.

    Its important to note that, due to a technical issue on our end, your book was initially only distributed to ****** and not to the other channels we typically cover. However, by the time we discovered this, you had already stopped payments, and we were unable to proceed with further distribution.

    Had you reached out to us to communicate your concerns earlier, we would have gladly resolved the situation, but unfortunately, we did not receive any communication from you at the time.

    We wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors, and we hope that your self-publishing journey goes smoothly.
