I brought my healthy, happy Great ********************** to Viscaya Prado Veterinarian Hospital on April 18, 2024 to have ******************** perform surgery on him. This surgery was to remove his front left leg. ******************** diagnosed him with bone cancer the week prior. The events that transpired before and after ******'s surgery have left us deeply troubled, and I feel compelled to bring these issues to your attention. I have sent an email with an attached letter with all of my concerns to Viscaya Prado twice. I never heard back from them. ******************** did not perform the proper tests prior to surgery. During surgery, he allowed a staff member to assist in the surgery. He also did not have qualified staff to care for ****** during recovery. ********************* under his care the first night. He never stood or walked again after surgery. ****** laid on their floor for 5 days without the proper care to make a full recovery as we were told would happen. His perfectly fine back legs now wouldn't work. ****** could not stand or put weight on those legs. During the after hours at the vet, ******************** did not have enough staff members to care for ******. Blood work was not read properly. ****** became swollen with fluid. His incision became necrotic within a week. ****** was sent home by a doctor at Viscaya with not eating or walking and with alarming blood work. We were told that there wasn't more they could do for him. I had 2 certified veterinarians assess ****** once I brought him home. They both raised alarming concerns for ******'s well being and expressed the lack of care that Viscaya provided for ******. Sadly the second certified veterinarian ****** saw was his last one. We had to put him down due to the severity of his health from the lack of care from ******************** and his staff.I have never been so disappointed and misled from a veterinarian.
