Woprk around my schedule and allowed me to observe their work as they replaced my 2 ****** flooded Trane compressors. They raised the new Trane compressors 3 feet higher and secured the units to an attractive cinder block structure that they used adhesive and Tapcon screws to ensure stability in the next hurricane. They replaced my mini-split unit and raised it high so again I should not have an issue in the next hurricane. Highly recommend on quality of service, knowledge and communication.

Cleanest installation I have ever seen. But I'll never use Get Cool Air again. Here's why:I contracted with Get Cool Air LLC for $9218 to Install new 5 ton RunTru Trane 15 seer split system with 8 kw heater. Install new concrete slab with tiedown. Reinstate any exposed copper lines. Install new air handler in the vertical position in closet. Run new drain line to the north end of the house. Make new supply Plenum and return Plenum. Install new metal coffin. Install new safety switch on air handler. Reconnect to all existing return and supply ductwork in attic. Reroute copper lines, communication and high voltage into closet. Re-install soft start on outside unit. Update breakers per code. This will be a permitted job. Remove old existing air handler from attic. The job is incomplete with one duct not connected and one duct blocking access to the attic, which is against code. The system was malfunctioning from day 1, not cooling properly. The condensing unit blew out all the freon and oil, causing a severe failure. Service tech came back, found a leak, brazes it and recharges the system, but does not put any oil back in the unit. Trane corporate support said if the unit is low on oil, the compressor will fail prematurely. So I demanded a new replacement unit. Service tech was rude & kept reminding me what a deal I got. He stated he should be charging me for the service calls to fix this brand-new system install. The Contractor does not stand behind factory defects, even on a NEW install. Then sides with manufacturer, when I demanded a replacement condensing unit. The contractor of record never supervised any of the work or did a final inspection. Because of our differences, the contractor abandoned the job, telling me to get a new AC contractor. Now I am left with no labor warranty, should anything arise.I have all the documents to back up these statements, since the owner of record, (not contractor), keeps fabricating information. Facts are Facts

    Facts are facts:

    8/1/24: Permit inspection passed
8/3/24: Found system low on refrigerant by one (1) pound. The system was running to factory standards. Received a call from the homeowner at 10:50 pm same day after my departure that the system was blowing warm air.
8/4/24: Returned and found system extremely low on refrigerant. Slight oil under condenser. At this time, we were experiencing a hurricane and had hazardous weather conditions not suitable for repairs needed. Contacted Trane tech support and sales rep due to this being a brand-new unit and install, informed them there was a small leak on the outside unit and was unable to pinpoint location due to weather conditions.
8/6/24: Upon the weather conditions allowing a better chance to diagnose, we returned to find leak on suction line due to manufacturing defect on brazing joint. The customer was refusing the repair. He considered it only a Band-Aid and would have future problems and submitted false information to Trane, demanding a new unit. Trane tech support and sales rep both advised the unit needed field repair and would the entire unit not be replaced. Repair leak on site completed and charged system back up to factory standards as advised.
12 lbs of R-410 costing $1200.00 at no charge to customer and 3 hours of labor costing $450.00 at no charge to customer.

Note: This was a family discounted job. The customer was unprofessional and disrespectful to the owner and its employee while trying to do as advised by Trane. The customer threatened that he would get his attorney involved. When we explained to him that this is what Trane required of me, he refused to accept it. The customer called me lair and attacked my faith. At this point we decided that we advised the customer it would be best for the customer to find another hvac company, by handshake, that he feels he can be so disrespectful to because we do not tolerate this type of behavior. Once we made this clear to the customer, his exact words were "you will *** regret this." After our departure the customer continued to harass us via text message about everything and threatened my livelihood by leaving bad reviews. Let it be known that there is no warranty provided by Get Cool Air other than the 30-day labor warranty as noted on their invoice for this customer.

As the customer states, “cleanest install I’ve ever seen,” is because we take pride in our work and in our company and so just because there was a manufacture defect, something beyond Get Cool Air’s control, the customer’s one star rating is unjust.

    Response

Since so much nonfactual he said, he said statements are going back and forth, that really have nothing to do with my complaint, I'll stick to the facts. The system components were delivered. Upon unboxing, the condensing unit was physically damaged. I was told it was the only one left in the State, so either wait or use it. I was supposed to get a new case. System was installed and inspection passed. THE NEW SYSTEM NEVER COOLED PROPERLY FROM THE FIRST DAY, so like any customer, I immediately brough it to the attention of Anson. Anson first said "give it a day to stabilize". It was still failing, so I contacted him again. He then blamed it on ducts, thermostat, etc. He had me look in the attic for broken ducts, shut the breakers off and back on, etc. He came out and found it low on refrigerant. He used MY R410A because he had none with him, and filled the unit with not 1 pound, but 5 or 6 pounds. I called him again later the same day, and told him it had stopped cooling completely. I sent a pic of the oil spill in the back of the unit. I discovered the skinny line was cool and the fat line was hot at the air handler. He came back again and the unit lost all refrigerant and a whole lot of oil, (HIS own words). He tested it and found a leak but had nothing with him to fix it and left. Due to the storm that was present, he returned when it cleared, tested it and found and brazed some leaks, in the condensing unit. His demeanor changed. He was agitated and told me he was doing me a favor and should be charging me for these service calls, that they were not his problem. He said he was losing money. He told me it was fixed, said a few insulting statements, shook my hand, turned to walk away and told me to get another AC contractor. At that point he abandoned the job. If you read a previous customer complaint filed a couple of years ago, you will see a possible pattern that Anson may use on customers when things go wrong. He is a very competent AC installer, who performed a great install, but his demeanor changed rapidly and he got angry. He needs to learn that faulty equipment supplied by the manufacturer is NOT the customer's problem, and he is responsible for a NEW system to initially work properly. His fight was with TRANE, but he turned on me, blamed me and took his frustration out on me. I never saw or spoke to the certified contractor of record. This review and one-star rating is FAIR. It was not because of the workmanship, because his work was exceptional, with the exception of him not hooking up the return duct and moving the larger return duct away from the opening as contracted and promised. It was because I had an honest problem, concern and complaint, from day one, about a supposedly new unit, that was actually months old. But instead of supporting me the customer, Anson blamed, mistreated, insulted, belittled and abandoned me the customer. I would recommend Anson for any installation, because he does great work. He is the best I have ever seen in all my years in construction. But it would be advisable to deal directly with the contractor, with any problems and complaints.
