On March 9 I rented a car from Dollar Rent a Car in Orlando FL. I was charged an extra $158.80 for liability insurance. I did not ask for insurance because my GEICO insurance covers cars that I rent. The agent said nothing about the insurance charge. To all renters, you need to tell the agent that you DO NOT want insurance. Otherwise they will automatically ad it to your bill. Their customer service is nonexistant. It is impossible to spear to a representative st Dollar. Voice mail ****.

I rented a rental car from dollar rental on June 15th and returned it on June 16th. They charged me 578.00 for a deposit. They never gave me back my deposit. I tried calling the customer service line multiple times and they keep telling me there is no live agent for billing. They told to submit a form about 20 times which I did. They still have not responded to me. It is frustrating to say the least.Review from Shawn O

I reserved my car months before my trip prepaid my deposit and thought I was set to go. When I got there I had to use a different card because my account got hacked. I was told I would be refunded the money and would have to be charged again for the hole amount plus the deposit. So I waited for my refund and my deposit back the 30 days and have not received anything back yet. They told me they took my refund because it was less than 30 days and I haven't heard anything back on my deposit. We went with another family and they had to do the same thing with a different card but the other family got there deposit and there refund. I feel discrimination and contradicting behavior

I wish I would have researched Dollar Car Rental before renting from them, I see they have a terrible rating here on the BBB. I rented a vehicle through Tickets at Work and prepaid $1100.00 for 7 passenger vehicle. When we arrived at the airport we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a bigger vehicle because the vehicle we rented was not going to transport all of us plus our luggage. She told us it would be $50/day for this upgrade which should have been $850.00. I ended up being charged another $1700.00 when I received my credit card statement, I had assumed the total of $1700.00 included my initial charge of $1100.00 but it did not, that was on top of the initial charge. I have reached out to Dollar Car Rental and they are not willing to do anything at all even though their representatives NEVER explained these charges were on top of our initial booking. HORRIBLE service! I will NEVER rent or recommend Dollar Car Rental again. As I see HERTZ name is on my receipt as well, that is disappointing they are affiliated as I won't rent from them as well!Review from Amelia H G

Through the American Airlines website I redeemed 88,000 miles to rent a car for use in New York State (pick up at JFK). This was the amount advertised to rent the car. This website is apparently managed by a third party, rocket miles, who then applied the miles to Dollar rental. When we arrived to rent the vehicle, the rental company denied us the car because we had a NY state driver's license and this fare was reserved for international visitors. My complaint against dollar: why are they able to do discriminatory pricing towards local drivers? This seems to be unfair pricing practices, which are not transparently shared. I searched the entire website and read all the small print, and never found this explicitly stated. Reading the terms and conditions, it said that if renting locally, there may be some additional requirements, but these were not forthcoming.Review from Stephanie A

The worst experience I have ever had trying to talk with a live person you can only go through automated system that tells you to push numbers for information that has nothing to do about the reason your calling on the phone for about two hours trying to go through each prompt and got no where return the car and problem still not resolve NO STARReview from Keith S

booked online via my express ID and somehow they do not see that and wanted to charge me extra to add an extra driver at the airport....this is the only reason I sued Dollar rental car....it was 130am so there was not time to argue.Review from Dustin M

I was charged an additional $419.94 for a Damage Waiver (CDW/LDW) that I declined when asked at the customer service desk and didnt see that charge until after I had returned the rental car. After I talked with customer service on the phone, I was told that they cant refund the Damage Waiver since it was signed for at pickup even though I did not see that on the receipt they handed me at the time of pickup. When I made the reservation through my employers travel website, I prepaid $394.19 and was only to pay an additional $133.07 on arrival to pickup the rental with a total cost of $527.26. However, with the Damage Waiver I ended up paying the total was $583.51 plus the prepaid amount of $394.19 which ended up totaling $977.70 that really shouldve only been $557.76. This was the first time I have experienced being charged an additional fee without my consent and will not be renting from Dollar again while also double checking that any other rental car companies dont include random insurance fees.Review from Prasad K

Rental car returned with full tank of fuel, but charged $140.90 for fuel. I filled a complaint with customer service and a comment survey both said some will get back to me within 5-7 working days. It has been over 30 days never heard. I can't get hold of anyone in customer service because there is no telephone no for customer service. Hope some one from BBB will help.Review from Amy M

When I booked my reservation the total charge was $130. When I returned the car the total was $278. Extra charges were added to the amount that I never asked for. If Im quoted $130 when I make the reservation then thats what Im expecting to pay! I will not return and I advise others not to rent here or if you do make sure when you get your car that youre only charged the exact amount on your initial reservation.
