I called and left messages about servicing my home generator. After several emails, someone I spoke to was actually rude on the phone. He said that they could not dispatch a technician to my home, I had to bring the generator to them. I told him that my generator weighs 450 lbs. and I couldnt lift it. His reply? Thats your problem, not mine.Worst customer service ever. I was a Marina ******* in Ft. Lauderdale and recommend Hillman all the time. Never again.

The customer has a portable Generator that was sold by someone else and must have been delivered to his house. Don Hillman *** does not sell portable generators that we deliver....do not have the capacity/equipment to do that so we don't have the ability to pick one up at a house. I was aware of the call and stated that if he could find a way to get it to us we would service it for him. If we sent a tech to him it is $140/hr plus $2.50/mile round trip, we don't have parts nor manuals to refer to if there is a problem - it would end up being very expensive to work on something that we don't ever do - then we would get a complaint on the cost of the service.
We do not service portables due to the expense nor to we sell very many because they can purchased for less at the box stores. We service and sell Home stand by generators that are installed at the house. We should not be penalized for not be able to do something that we do not do - kind of like asking a ***** motorcycle dealer to work on a ***** generator. The staff member asked me about this customer while he was on the phone and we could not come up with a way to help him out - we don't like to turn people down. Our response to him was if he could find a way to get it to us we would service it....it was not very much of a call. Just a thought right now, he could have a wrecker pick it up and then return it when we were done????
