Windows were just fine but installation crew spoke no English & werent careful about the process. Another crew had to follow up to fix the damaged stucco & repair the cosmetic issues the installation crew left. Then, 10 months later, we found that Clear Choice left an attachment to our deed that prevented us from securing a HELOC. While they promptly submitted paperwork to correct their error, this should have been done when the installation was complete & paid for.

It is unfortunate that Clear Choice even has to respond to this because the client was misled by their mortgage company. Every permitted job in the state of Florida requires a Notice of Commencement to be recorded in the county the work is done in if the job exceeds $2,500. The Notice of Commencement automatically falls off the county records in one year. The client was informed this when they called the office and accused Clear Choice of filing a lien. The mortgage company told the client that we filed a lien on their property, which couldnt be further from the truth. Again, it was a Notice of Commencement, which is required. In our business, we have to have a state contractors license and know the contracting laws and requirements. I would think that would hold true to loan officers, and that they should know the difference in a lien and a Notice of Commencement.

With the aforementioned in mind, there is a simple fix to get the Notice of Commencement terminated, and thats filing a Notice of Termination of the Notice of Commencement, which Clear Choice filed upon the clients request. I will add that in the normal course of business operations, no company files a Notice of Termination because as stated above the Notice of Commencement automatically falls off after one year.

In regards to the crew that did the installation. Some jobs in Florida require what is called a stucco cut outto remove the old windows, therefore if that is the case, it is not uncommon to have to send a stucco guy, a specialist in stucco repair, to patch the stucco. This is not uncommon and normal in those types of installations.

Finally, Clear Choice does not discriminate in our hiring practices, we relentlessly search for the best and most trust worthy installers in our area, after all, they are going into peoples homes. So I dont have a comment about the client complaining that the crew spoke no English, other than they actually do speak some English, and our Operations Manager is fluent in both English and Spanish. Therefore, he is always available to translate if necessary. This comment about the language comes across as somewhat racist.

Sales quote process was great in 2020, but dishonest to the point the salesman would not even return my calls. Installation was the worst I've ever experienced but Clear Choice would not check their work. 3 of the 12 windows are defective and all windows installed improperly by using inferior products; confirmed by a general contractor and another window company and several window people. Refused to service me in a timely manner because the windows kept breaking and lied that the parts were backordered which the manufacturer said was NEVER the case and they sent the parts immediately (that when I contracted with another window company for repair and discovered the defects). The manufacturer now tells me I'm out of warranty because Clear Choice kept making me wait many months for repair ( I am now in my 4th month of waiting on my latest request). They make no money fixing the wrongs of the manufacturer or contracted installers so they just lie and tell you your parts are on backorder which is untrue. Their response when you beg for them to just simply give you windows that open and close. I paid $13,000 for windows which are worse than the 20 yr old ones they replaced. The latest response from Clear Choice was the I purchased cheap windows and I should replace them if I want them to work. I did not pick these windows, they were sold as good quality windows. I've never experienced such mean spirited, rude and down right nasty people that want others to buy their products. When someone like me has been nice to them, never raised their voice and continually begs for help just to be able to use what they paid for; these people should not be in this business. Ask around and make your own decision. I am now paying another company $6500 to replace the 3 defective windows and re calk the all the other windows. My opinion, just do your homework and make your own.
