My car was booted at an apartment complex (with no assigned spots). There was ample regular spots, but no visitor spots, so I parked right next to a visitor spot in a regular spot, which I thought would be sufficient, rather than double parking and blocking someone into a visitor spot and blocking the road. When I called, I was told they would be 20 minutes. After waiting with no response, I called to ask for an updated eta, but was met with aggression and hostility. It is about 90 degrees in ******* right now, and asking someone to wait well over 20 minutes in a hot car is inhumane. I was calling to get an eta to see if I could go walk somewhere to grab water to stop myself from passing out from the heat, but I guess that is not allowed.

Good afternoon, This vehicle was parked in general parking without the necessary decal, as stated by the vehicle owner. This is a violation of the property rules which is why they received a boot. We try to respond in the fastest manner possible for everyone. The vehicle is not locked and could be entered at any time by the owner as long as they do not try and move it. This could have helped with the heat. I will discuss the conversation between them and my staff to determine if they were not using company policy when speaking with the owner. There is no refund available since as the vehicle owner states they did not follow the rules of the property.

On 11 October, my car was improperly booted in a spot that is designated for my building. While calling this company to remove the boot, the employee on the phone proceeded to scream at me. My building got involved and managed to get the company out there to remove the boot. When the boot was getting removed, another employee insisted my car was properly booted. Once again, this is despite the fact that my car was parked in a spot labeled as being for my apartment building ("clubhouse reserved"). The company actively violated posted parking signage and will not own up to it.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 10/15/2024

My desired resolution is to recieve a letter from the company admitting that a) my car was improperly booted. My car was parked in a spot labeled clubhouse reserved which is the parking for 2x2 apartments. I had an up to date decal. b) Acknowledgement that their employee's manner over the phone was not acceptable behavior. This is for my records in case I have dealings with this company again.

Good afternoon, I have addressed this complaint with the complainant already and let her know i would be looking into our dispatchers actions. Yes she was in a **** ***** reserve but she was in a *** decal clubhouse reserved spot. She belongs in a *** clubhouse reserved space which is identified by her *** decal. This is her property rules not ours. We no charged her for the boot not because she was in the correct space but because the apartment had shut down for a storm and the driver mis read the memo. She did not have to pay so there is nothing more that i can do to fix this issue.  I have apologized for our employee and have taken action on this matter. It seems to me that she wants to just complain to everyone she can even though we have done all we can to make it right.

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

    a) The buisness replied to an email that I sent stating they would review footage in regards to my specific employee complaint.  However, they have not issued an apology or discussed with me that that employee was alerted to their conduct. Therefore, this business' statement is untruthful.

    b) The buisness states how the parking spot was labeled "clubhouse reserved", yet is a * by *** spot. If that is indeed the case, the business is actively booting and towing despite the parking spots' markings. This is something that I would like the business and my apartment complex to discuss and correct. Whether that is having the apartment complex relabel those spots or revert those spots back to * ** * parking; this issue does need to be addressed. Appropriate signage is necessary for such policies to be enacted. As of now, neither side has accepted the responsibility of communication.

    c) the business' statement of me "just complaining" displays the very tone of voice that I originally had an issue with during my phone call with the employee in question.

    Regards,

    ******* ********

    Customer Answer

    a) Superior Towing is stating that despite the parking space being labeled "Clubhouse Reserved" that it is for a * by *** townhouse. The parking rules for my apartment clearly state that * ** * apartments can park in parking spaces labeled "Clubhouse Reserved". See attached photo of parking guidline email. The photo with the car in the spot labeled "Clubhouse Reserved" is already in the file.

    b) Additionally, to make an ammendment to my last message: English is not my first language and I believe I wrote my statement in a confusing manner. I submitted a complaint through BBB after sending a complaint directly to Superior Towing. When I did not get a reply after two days, I sent a complaint to BBB upon the suggestion of an acquaintance who knew about the BBB. This is because I wanted this matter resolved in an amicable manner. To discuss what I believe may have been confusing in my last message: In their email, the company did use the words "we apoligize". What I meant by they had not apoligized is that their actions have not followed up with their words. They stated that they would review the video of the employee. Yet, I never recieved any follow-up after this action in order to fully resolve the matter. To be accused of "just complaining" when I have attempted to do this amicably through the BBB is disrespectful and demonstrates the level of unprofessionalism I have experienced with this company.

As we have stated we have been given rules for the property. Maybe the property did not tell the resident about the new **** ***** parking rules but we have them in writing and i have attached them here.. I do not know what they want but i do not discuss our reprimands with anyone but our employee. As any company would do. We have apologized and taken action on her complaint. That is all we can do.

I am rejecting this response because:

The email attached demonstrates that the email guidance sent to residents was sent after the email communication that the company recieved from the complex. At this point, I am simply asking for acknowlegment that the company will aim to resolve this miscommunication with the residence complex as it is becoming increasingly clear that there was a breakdown somewhere. This is again a request that I have stated previouslt. Yet, they have thus far been unwilling to do so. Additionally, at no point did I ask the business to discuss the specifics of their handling of their employee with me. I simply asked for confirmation that the action that the said they were going to do (review footage and discuss with employee) was completed. This was to ensure that again, their actions have truly matched their words. True follow-up in matters such as this is a mark of professionalism that the company has so far failed to display.

I was parked at my daughters house using her roommates parking decal. When I came out approximately 1 hour after parking my car had a "boot" on it. I called Superior Towing and after the lengthy statements, I was able to get to the dispatcher. I explained that I was in my daughters roommates spot but they didn't care. I was told I had to pay if I wanted my vehicle unbooted. She dispatched the person to take off the boot. I was also told I could pay over the phone or pay the driver- cash or credit. An hour later P showed up in a pickup truck full of "boots" to immobilize vehicles. I explained that I had a parking decal and he stated he didn't see it. With more questions I asked, I found that he put the boot in about * minutes after we brought the groceries in. I think he not only was waiting there for us to go inside, but he probably saw my daughter put the decal in the car (unfortunately it had fallen into the console). They didn't care that I had a decal....I had to pay to get my car driveable. Then I was going to pay the pickup truck driver, but he said he had to take a picture of my Drivers License and Credit Card! I called the dispatch again and A said it didn't matter who I paid, whether her over the phone or the pickup truck driver, they were getting a picture of my DL and CC. They would not remove the boot until I not only paid, but let them take pictures of my DL and CC. I said fine as I had somewhere to be. I think the most ridiculous part is, P the pickup truck driver made me put my signature on a line in his phone. I had no idea what I was signing so I didn't sign my signature. He then printed and gave me an invoice. It had the signature block (without my signature-just a line) under a paragraph that stated I was authorizing Superiour Towing to process even more money in debt collection! I didn't sign it. If this is happening to a parent with a valid decal can just imagine how they are preying on the students in this town.

Good morning, without more vehicle information I only go off of the written complaint. In her complaint she admits that the pass she said she had was not displayed but laying in the console. We do not go through peoples car looking for a decal when it should have been put up the proper way and place. Showing a decal after the immobilization does not work as an excuse for not displaying it when parking. If the decal was displayed she would not have been immobilized end of story. Yes we do ask for certain proof like picture id and to see the copy of the credit card when releasing a vehicle out of our office setting. With so much fraud going on we are not only making sure the transaction is legal for us but also the customer. Not signing the invoice correctly seems kind of childish but it is her receipt so if she wants a fake name on it so be it. With more vehicle information I could attach pictures that will show she did not have a decal at time of the immobilization. accusations like he watched us park are useless. I could simply say she did not have a decal and only used her daughters decals to show us when we showed up. The facts are they did not have a decal displayed at the time of the immobilization so no refund will be issued.

I am rejecting this response because:  This event occurred on 3/22/24 at Potters Cottages- Red Kia. I notified the dispatcher, the pickup truck driver and the 2nd dispatcher that I had a decal. If I was asked to present my daughters decal and her roommates, I would have. The vehicle should not have been immobilized when it had only been there for less than * minutes per the superior towing "logged time" and I even have a publix receipt to prove it. I don't know anyone that would blindlly sign something--- and it is clear that this company utlizes this technique of adding a signature to documents after the fact knowing that most of their alleged violators are college students. The preying on the students and vistors of the city is despicable.

Thank you for the vehicle information. I have attached the pictures from the time of immobilization. After reviewing them i can not find a decal anywhere that is visible. The complainant knows that she had to have a decal to park and did not display it visible in the vehicle. Without the decal she was in violation of the property rules. There will be no refund given at this time since we followed the rules of the property. Please follow the parking rules for the property next time you visit. Have a great day.

We parked at my son’s apartment on level 4 where there were plenty of spaces open and no assigned spots. We visited my son for about an hour and when we came out the car was booted. Superior refused to remove the boot or accept responsibility for their mistake. My son has had many visitors over and we have visited many times for more than an hour and have never had any issues. I would understand if it was overnight or if we were there for multiple hours but we should be able to visit my son in a place we pay for without worrying about being booted.

Good morning, at this apartment complex visitors must have a pass from the office. The residents are given the parking rules when they move in and are responsible for relaying the rules to their guest. As seen in the picture there was no pass in their vehicle. Please have them discuss the rules with their child to better understand the rules when visiting. No refund can be given.

I am rejecting this response because this is response is an attempt to place the blame on someone other than the company doing the booting. I also think that there are illegal business practices involved. For example,  according to the document/receipt if I want to contest the payment, they will charge me a fee of $150 to dispute the claim. This is an example of extortion and blackmail. I am given no option but to succumb to their demands. If I don’t pay their fees my car is towed and they threaten you with you life if you touch or disturb their precious piece of equipment.  If I do pay the fee, I get my car back and lose my money,  but at no time am I given an option to discuss the matter or given any option but to pay. I do not understand how a legitimate business can legally charge whatever fees they want and no matter what you never get your money. I do not understand how legally they can boot whomever they want and there is no recourse or possibility of disputing this without paying more money.  This would appear to be an illegal business practice since you have to pay them no matter what (much like early crime families) and this is why I contacted the Better Business Bureau to other people aware of these poor business practices so that people know exactly what kind of people run this business.

Unfortunately they are mistaken on the laws for Immobilization in the city. First on the same receipt where they are complaining about the $150 charge it also tells them they can complain to the *********** ****** **********. Second the $150 fee is only if they dispute the charge with their credit card company and we have to do more paperwork to keep our payment. Third we do not charge what we want the city has set our fees for years. I am sorry that they can not seem to take responsibility for their lack of knowledge of the parking rules where they parked but we can not be held responsible for their mistakes. Thank you

     Complaint: ********

I find it interesting that your response is completely different than what is posted on your receipt. You said "Second the $150 fee is only if they dispute the charge with their credit card company and we have to do more paperwork to keep our payment." however that is not what your receipt says. Your receipt says that you will charge $150 if we want to dispute the charges. There is no mention of disputing with the credit card agency or anyone. See the attached picture. It is apparent that you clearly do not want us to dispute the charges so according to receipt I either pay $150 to dispute or $85 to accept. There is no other alternative. Now you are trying to justify the fact that I think this is a poor business practice by stating something completely different than what is posted on your receipt. If in fact it is what you said and not what is on the receipt, than your receipt and your email should be the same, not different like they are currently.

The section you chose to attach reads do not dispute the charge. It does not say anything about disputing the boot. We even give you information to dispute the boot on the same invoice in which you did not want to show. Below is what the entire bottom of your invoice states. It tells you how to dispute the boot and then tells you not to dispute the CHARGES. It does not say anything about disputing the boot, only the charge. It is ridicule's that some people can not admit they made a mistake. But only wish to bash a company for doing their job as instructed by the property owner. We all make mistakes. Have a great day.

It is apparent that I have touched a nerve with your business and the way your business is run. I admit my daughter parked in the parking lot that I paid rent for. I am just questioning why you say on your invoice, the one you even copied, that it says to dispute the charge is $150 or accept it and pay $85. We were not able to dispute the boot until we paid and contacted the city (which I have done and received no response). At that point you had no intention and never will have any intention of returning someones money based upon what you copied. I wish your business the best of luck and hope that people are aware of the way you conduct business. Just because it is right in your eye, does not make it right in the eye of everyone else. You have my money and had no intention of ever letting us discuss this. You held my car as collateral and I either paid the money and you hoped I went away or I dispute the charge and pay more money for you to hope I go away. Either way you have your precious money and my daughter knows not to park in a place I pay rent for. I just wihs I could have had a reasonable discussion with you or business before being charged. You can view the timestamps on the security cameras and view the time she was there but you have no intention of a civil conversation.

Superior Towing towed our vehicle out of our apartment complex from a space we own. We own two spaces and the vehicle was over the line in our own space. When we contacted Superior towing they did not care. We had to pay $520. Then we put both tags in window and they immobilized vehicle again in the space we own. They are stealing from college students. I was told by superior towing to sue them, they don't care, it won't work. We were told by *** that they tow people illegally all the time and they continue to get away with it.

The customer does own 2 spots and can use both spots but must display each pass clearly for our drivers to be able to confirm they can use both spots. As you can see from the pictures they have never displayed the correct decal for the spot. We suggest clearly displaying both decals at all times if he is going to use both spots. And as far as someone from the property management saying anything the owner who has my cell number would have called me with any issue they have with my company. Been working with him for 7 years now with no issues.

This horrible company towed my car out of my assigned parking space at my apartment. That I pay for. They refused to give it back until I paid them $100. They claim they could not see my parking pass. The pass was visible and hung from my rearview mirror. But since I was in my own space, I didn’t even need a pass! They are terrible people preying on college students and should not be allowed to conduct business in this way

2/19/2023 There was this only 1 sign that was covered by another car. On a Subday afternoon there was a market in a lot with restaurants. Only this little sign was there covered by other cars when we parked. We parked in blank spaces. Other spaces were marked “MRP” & we did t know what that was so parked in blank space for 20 minutes. Came back and whole row of cars got boots out on. This company sits there all day and as soon as one parks there they jump in their car and make them pay $80 to remove it. They are preying on people and purposely raking in so much money. While I was waiting for them to remove it so many other customers pulled into park as well and I warned them. They put this little sign that nobody sees and makes other places “MRP” which nobody know what is. They are cheating people and this is not right. I demand my $80 for them purposely hiding signs and booting cars all day. Big fat cheaters and scammers!!!!!

At the entrance to this lot there are about 7 signs that tell people how and where to park. We as a towing company are not allowed by the city to place any signs except for the towing signs at the entrance. We do not hide our signs from anyone. We are asked to patrol a lot and given the rules to do so by the property owner/agent. Sorry that the person was confussed about where to park but we are not in charge of rules or signage at any location we work for.

This company booted my car that was in a parking garage that I pay $200 per month to park in. I have a temporary parking permit because my usual car is in the shop. The temporary parking permit says it is valid from 1/9-2/20. My car was booted on 2/12. When I called them to dispute this charge (because I was parked there legally) they wouldn't help and made me pay $80.50 in order to get my car back. They said that it was booted because of a "tampered parking permit" but they offered no proof other than the handwriting looked bad.

I am rejecting this response because: the picture provided does not prove tampering. Just because the handwriting is bad or doesn't meet their standards does not prove any tampering was done to the pass by me or anyone else. If their policy is to tow anything that looks like it might be tampered they will be towing many people who are validly parked (me). I am a resident at the hub on 3rd (which can be verified) and I have legal right to park in this parking garage per my lease agreement and the parking pass that was displayed. I would like to resolve this issue here rather than being force to file a small claims suit with the county.

I am sorry that the customer does not understand that an altered pass is an altered pass. This is clearly an altered pass which per the pass in questions makes it eligible to be towed/booted. If  everyone altered their pass then we would be towing a lot of vehicles but most just get a new pass from their office. If they see fit to taking this to court then i guess we will see them there.

On 01/23/2023 Superior towing immobilized my car in the lot of my apartment complex. I pay for parking and I have a tag. They came on property without notifying the property management company ahead of time. They booted 4 other residents cars in the lot. I advised them that I pay for parking and have a tag and they refused to remove the boot or come to my location without me paying 80.50$. I called my property manager and I was told to call Superior towing back. I was told to file a police report and I went to the police station and they would not file a police report for this theft even though that is what I was instructed to do by Superior towing.

Without any vehicle information i can not look into this Boot. But we do have contracts for each property that we go into that states the rules they would like us to follow. If we booted this vehicle then the property owner/agent knows that we are there. If they did not have their decal displayed at the time our driver was there then they would have received a boot even if they pay and live at the property. Please let us know if there is any other information needed for this complaint.

On the night of 01/13/2023 at approximately 10:30 pm, my wife parked her vehicle (white Acura ****** license plate ** ) at **** ** *** *** ** *********** *** *** **. She paid the parking lot fee through the on site system managed by park on the fly (confirmation ***********). We reserved from 10:30-11:30 on the site. At approximately 11:15 she arrived back at the parking lot and observed our vehicle was booted illegally. We contacted the number left on the vehicle by superior towing and was told we needed to pay 80.50 to have the boot removed and that we could contest the price later. We informed them we have the proof that we paid legally for the site. They said they would not remove the boot unless we paid the cash up front. We contacted them multiple times since then and they have refused to call us back or transfer to any manager. The only thing I was able to accomplish was being forward to a voicemail after the woman who answered said she was too busy to talk. I would also like to note that their company phone number requires the caller to listen to a threat that they will prosecute them if they touch the boot. To summarize, this company illegally booted our vehicle over the weekend and forced us to stay there and pay 80.5 extra to have the boot removed due to their error, and is refusing to contact us back or help rectify the issue. This company appears to be profiting from college students in the area, and is not a valid company as they advertise.

We can only go by what is listed as paid on the pay to park site. We referred them to the park on the fly company if they did pay and a error in their system did not show it. There is nothing we can do to help them since the system did not show that they paid at the time it was booted. I hope the parking lot pay company can help them.

    Thank you, Superior Towing
