1 starOn the phone with their agents for over an hour now and we have been transferred to several different agents. We are trying to find a safe place to move our 401k money to. We are looking to retire when my husband is at full retirement age which is within a year and 4 months. Ridiculous runaround with no clear help with managing our money. Our scenario is different than many people because we are scheduled for full retirement within the next two years and we need help to secure our retirement funds. Of course everyone says keep your money in the current account and the market will eventually straighten itself out?! We have already lost $5,000 in two weeks and its only getting worse. We have had our money in this retirement account for ******************************************* office its not performing well and we want to switch to a more secure environment. This company is absolutely worthless! No help whatsoever.Review fromRegina W

1 starI would give a minus star rating if I could. I quit my job on 2/17/24, started the process of trying to cash out my 401k and stocks. They said I had to wait until my final paycheck so the final deposit to my 401k would go into it. Made sense. Called a week after my final paycheck. They said that I was not terminated in the payroll system at the company I worked for. I asked when the window was to cash out my stocks so I could write it down so I didnt miss it. They told me it was in August but I would have to call back closer to then to find out the window. I knew it was sometime in August from what other employees have told me. It took until the middle of March to get the company I worked for to terminate me in the system for whatever reason. It took several emails and the threat of an attorney to get my 401k cashed out, which I believe they did as quick as they did because only had about $700 in that account because I had quit my job to take care of my Mom before she passed and come back to the company. I had left the stocks because I wasnt gone long enough to cash it out then. I called back to ask about the hardship because my home is old and needs repairs, and I was having car trouble. I was told I had $0 in stocks. I freaked out when she told me this and she said they had sold my account to a other company because sometimes they do that and that she did not have information about the company or authority to give me info. I hung up to calm down and called back and the next person said my money was there but they dont do hardships for any reason, even if you are facing being homeless and carless. At the time my home had mold problems causing me health problems. I explained this over several emails and they were adamant about they do not have a hardship program on stocks. And that they cannot just cash it out because it takes about a year to pull the stocks out period. Absolutely horrid people, rude, they will hang up on you even though you are being nice.Review fromHenryk M

1 starToday is April 18 2024. I have been trying to get Newport ************* to disbourse my *** since approximately January 15 of this year. So far I have not had any success. Every time I call **************** I speak to a different individual and invariably each of these individuals tell me of a differrent process for me to see my money. At some point the forms I was asked to fill out and send in two different forms. I sent them to Newport as Priority mail with tracking. Several weeks later when called, **************** told me that they never received the forms. When I escalated the matter, a couple of weeks later, the forms were found and they were working on the disboursement. During today's call I was told that I have not received the check because I have been doing it the wrong way all along. Apparently I cannot see my money unless I make the request through the Newport Trust portal. It looks that on my part strong action will be required to see one day once red cent of my money. I will oblige.Review fromMariah M

1 starThis is by far the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They lack communication I have been trying since January to close my account out. I have gotten multiple run arounds told no supervisor , hung up on. Then paperwork I sent in they completed it wrong. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!Review fromdavid s

1 starTrying to start Rollover for clients and I got transferred 5 times until I got to the ARC team...whatever that is. Apparently they are following the new trend started by **** **** that stonewalls clients from getting their money out for distributions or rollovers. Please read all of the below reviews. This is getting too common in the retirement industry. I read this for ****** *********** as well. Unfortunately **** had a D rating then they changed their name and now they have an A rating. I doubt they have cleaned up their act. The BBB can be manipulated like that. Be so careful who you give your money to. I've worked in the industry for 25 years and I know ******* ******** *** *** do not do this. They are quick to do transfers.Review fromConnor F

1 starDon't ever ever EVER use this company. I had to withdraw money from my account and the check was "sent out" on 8/3/23 but I never got it. They said it could take up to 4 weeks, so I called back on 8/28/23 and had them send out another check. Still never received it, so I called back on 9/20/23 and had it expedited (through ***) because I was fed up with them and I just wanted my money. Called on Monday (9/25/23) to check on it, he said it "takes a couple days to process so it's still in the process" (even though it's been 4 days...). Called back on 9/28/23, still nothing. Called back on 10/4/23, they said the check just got sent out. By 10/9/23 still haven't received it, so I called back and they said that ***** (why ***** all the sudden when I went through ***??) picked it up so I should have it within 2 days. They have been a migraine x 1000. Don't EVER go through this "company"Review fromMelissa S

1 starI gave a 1 star as I had no choice but to pick something. This is the most unprofessional and unreliable "business" I have ever with. I have been trying to do a direct rollover to an IRA since JULY! I completed my paperwork and everything they asked for from me. I wanted the check to be sent overnight as that's what I checked on the paperwork. I have called almost everyday and have spoken to someone different. No one knows anything that is going on. I have spoken to a supervisors and also had this escalated. And still no one could tell me why is has been delayed. I was told twice, since August 31st, by two different people that a check had been processed and cut and mailed. I was told that is was sent through USPS(snail mail) and then I was told that was not correct and no check has been processed yet. Then just last week I was told yes one had been sent out through overnight and should expect it the next day through fed ex. I called back this week and was told that was not correct and no check had been processed. Then I called back yesterday and spoke to a different supervisor who told me a check was processed but it went out through regular mail and he was unable to see if I had been charged the overnight fee. The supervisor also said that every time I called the people were closing the tickets and instead of being kept open. I suggest no one ever use them ever again. They are a scam and criminals. If your job uses them I suggest you run!Review fromNancy C

1 starDon't use them. I have been trying to move funds for days. They keep telling me I need new information that I never filled out. First they had my address wrong, now they are asking for security questions I never filled out. It has gotten to the point I have to ask my old HR rep at my prior employer if she can give me a user name and a new password to attempt to do a roll over online. These people want to hold your money until they drain it to nothing with their fees.Review fromCamila O

1 starwhat a shame, the company we worked for moved the funds to NewPort and they said we had to remove the funds or it would be moved into an IRA. Calling them and identifying with new and old address and social security amongst other questions we were asked value of first deposit, percentage of the salary that used to roll into 401k, stuff nobody knows or remembers! They just want to keep your money for them.Review fromJenna G

1 starDo not use Newport Group if there is ever a chance you might roll funds out to another company. My previous employer used them and it has been terrible. They do not give consistent information and make it incredibly difficult to move funds. Anyone else I have used have been a hundred times better. Even the big guys like Fidelity are easier to work with. I've called newport over 5 times in less than a week, turned in all appropriate documentation, and done everything they have asked. The originally told me I could expedite it for 1 - 3 business days. Then later they told me it takes 7 - 10 business days to process before they can send the check overnight and the overnight check is the "expedited" piece. They do not expedite processing as I was originally told. NOW they are saying it takes 10 - 15 days to process.
