1 starModern Movers did a great job moving us from Ft. ***** to *******. However, they damaged an electric piano during the move. I have contacted them 4 times about a bill to repair the piano ($432) and they have never returned my emails or calls. This is pretty poor customer service for an otherwise good ********************** company.Review fromL. M.

I would leave negative stars if I could. This is a terrible moving and storage company and I regret ever using them though they were highly rated. They ruined pretty much all of my upholstered furniture and some other pieces because of their shoddy moving and storage. I have three couches that are completely ruined. One of the king sized beds that they had in their "so called" air conditioned storage came back with rust stains and animal claw marks. I paid them a small fortune over two and a half years from wrapping and packing up our stuff and then storing it. I also paid additional insurance -- thank goodness - for some of these items and they were ruined. I filed a claim with them three weeks after the brought our stuff to our home and they have now taken more than eight weeks and have not resolved my claim. Do not use this company.Modern Movers, Inc.

Although this is an unfortunate situation, we have handled and processed her claim in a timely manner and settled, based on the terms and conditions of her contract in place at the time of her move.
She moved into storage on: 5/11/21, moved out 1/31/24. Received claim form 2/26/24, set up for an in-home inspection (based on scheduling with customers representative and inspection firm) 3/8/24, inspection report received 3/18/24, with pending questions, final report and questions received 4/1/224 - with a final synopsis received on 4/18/24. Claim has settled and a check is being issued based on the terms and conditions of the contract. All in all this claim settled within (60) business days, which we feel is reasonable, considering the time involved with inspections, scheduling, etc.
Any claim presented still must be investigated and researched to verify new transit damage, mover's error etc., prior to making any offer of settlement and always based on the terms and conditions of the contract in place. We do have the right to repair prior of a settlement (if applicable) We simply cannot pay out a presented claim solely based on the claim presented and the amount claimed without doing are due diligent and investigate thoroughly.
We are sorry that she felt it took too long to process her claim. Her items were indeed in storage for 2 1/2 years and unfortunately, she had some items which sustained damages and we do apologize for the inconvenience.
Our warehouse is fumigated and pest controlled every single month and we have (4) AC Units to handle our AC capacity, so yes we are AC storage and we have not any issues in the past as indicated in her complaint.

This is not accurate. I have filed a claim and I paid for additional insurance on the items I filed a claim on and this company is refusing to compensate me for the ruined items. For one couch and chair where the fabric is beyond repair they are saying I can fix it for $500. Both items need to be completely recovered and that amount won't pay for fabric let alone furniture recovering. They are also refusing to compensate me for a king sized luxury mattress that had claw marks and rust and water damage. They are also refusing to pay me for an expensive American Leather Sofa with gel mattress because I don't have the receipt from 5 years ago. They also ruined my German made leather sectional sofa - the leather had items pilled on it and the arms are compressed. Again this was purchased at **** and ****** more than 5 years ago and I don't have the receipt. They can either fix it or buy me another one that is of the same quality and these are quality items. This is a horrible pathetic company and based on how discolored my furniture is -- all of the couches - this was not in controlled AC storage. I have been trying to get a settlement and actually use my furniture since February. We sent documentation and photographs. All I get is excuses. REPLACE MY FURNITURE NOW OR PROVIDE ME WITH THE NECESSARY FUNDS. This company is a bunch of scam artists. Do not use them.Modern Movers, Inc.

We are apologetic that our customer feels the need to say the above. We did not say she didn't file a claim, nor did we state she didn't have transportation valuation. She did file a claim and it was specified with dates on our response and she does have transportation valuation. We proceeded forwarded with her presented claim in a timely fashion, setting up an in-house inspection to determine movers error, etc. and to determine liability.
We made a settlement with her based on the inspection and the terms and conditions of her contract, along with her specified valuation deductible.
At this point in time, we are turning this claim/issue over to our insurance carrier for further handling.

They did not make a settlement based on the claim and/or their own inspection. We have cited their own contract and what we needed to prove and what we didn't. We will be heading to arbitration if their insurance carrier does not resolve this appropriately as we have both the documentation and proof to show the negligence of Modern Moderns. DO NOT USE MODERN MOVERS for moving or storage. They are an expensive scam company.Review fromAndrea C

5 starsWe would highly recommend Modern Movers for your move. They were very professional and patient when answering all our question. We had them pack all of our stuff and they did a very good job, nothing was damaged. They were very timely in showing up for the packing, loading and unloading. The personnel were nice and helpful. They were true professionals and it was a pleasure working with them. If I move again I will definitely use them . They made a very stressful situation bearable.Review fromJennifer N

5 starsModern Movers was so amazing and great to work with on our recent move from ******* to **************. **** was our driver he was super helpful when unloading. They also had great communication as well. They showed up when they were supposed to and honestly just helped with this big move so much! Buyer beware. I met with the rep to get an estimate and told him I wanted the full replacement insurance. The quote had a separate pricing for all of the insurance options but I didn't notice that what I wanted was not the selected option. I never caught the problem and they never tried to upsell or ask me about additional insurance when I booked the move a week later, which they told me the agent should have done. The move went well but they broke my 65" TV. When I called about a claim they told me all I had was the minimum insurance so they paid me $28 to go buy a new one. They were completely unapologetic and just kept waiving the contract in my face. My fault for not reading their quote more carefully and for not reading all of the negative reviews at BBB.Modern Movers, Inc.

We do understand the frustration bestowed upon our customer. However, our sales representatives always discuss the various options of valuation for the customer to choose from, as well as it is also listed on the Estimate/Order for Service which is presented to the customer for final review and signature/date securing their move.
We further make contact with our customer's the day before their scheduled move to reconfirm things such as addresses, contact names, #'s, name of development, stairs, elevators and always the valuation level in which the customer choose and signed for on their Estimate/Order for Service. If customer opts to change their choice of the valuation chosen, then a new Estimate/Order for Service would be produced for signature/date showing the update and change in the cost of the relocation.
We do sincerely apologize that our customer was unsatisfied with the claim settlement offer. However, we have a contract in place and settled based on those terms and conditions of said contract.
