This complaint is over a $155.00 service fee: On 12/4/24 we set an appointment for MGD to come out and ***air our Mighty Mule gate opener. When setting the appointment the customer service *** never mention a service fee of $145.00 plus an extra $10.00 travel charge because we are outside of Marion County. Had we been made aware of such a fee's up front we would never have set an appointment. I complete understand with companies charging a reasonable service fee but they should also inform customers of such a fee and also of any additional charges up front. The service man ***** took a look at the unit and said that they don't service this unit and they don't carry parts for the mighty mule gate openers. Then he said he would get us a quote for a new opener. I sent an email to the company explaining my disappointment about the service fee and not being told up front this information. I also mention that on the website they have no mention or service fee or pricing or additional travel fee's.I received an email back for ******* *, she said I was correct they don't mention pricing or service fee's on the website, and if I were concerned about a service fee they would have been happy to discuss this with me before sending ***** out. How did I know to discuss this if I didn't know it exist, that is definitely the companies responsibility to inform the customer of. also ***** made it sound as if they don't service mighty mule or even carry parts for them why didn't they tell me that as well. I really feel this company's practice is unfair and deceiving to consumer. Also the tone of the email I received back from ******* was very patronizing. In conclusion i feel that i paid MGD a$145.00 service fee and a $10.00 travel fee to send ***** out for 20 minutes to tell me my opener was broken they do not service Mighty Mule they are junk and they don't ever carry parts for them. I have the emails available for review.
