    According to the company a person who decides to purchase a timeshare unit, is required to sign a series of documents disclosing all conditions of the sale, including their right under Florida real estate law to cancel the contract within 10 calendar days without penalty. The company advises that any consumers having problems with Westgate Resorts may contact the Owner Relations Department via telephone at 1-800-925-9999 in order to resolve their issues.

     

    GENERAL INFORMATION: As with any transaction, be sure to read all agreements, guarantees and instructions before signing. Do not be pressured into signing an agreement before you are ready and you understand all terms and conditions. Make sure all oral promises are put in writing. Be wary of vaguely worded provisions, exclusions or limitations that could pose a problem later. Never sign a contract with sections left blank. You may also wish to have your attorney review the contract before signing. Under Florida Statue, for Florida properties, consumers have ten days to cancel the purchase of a timeshare unit without penalty.

      A Time Share deed proposal was signed off for, with sales agents of Westgate ******************************** They initially market the product to us as ownership of a condo on their resort, with the option to earn by renting. They drastically reduced the price to make it attractive, with a down payment plan in place. I advised that the most I could make in payment now is $1000 from my checking account. They offered a credit card which I originally declined, but was told that I would need it. To my understanding a credit card is no harm if it is not being used so I went ahead and signed. After signing said card, they went ahead and completed a transaction towards the down payment for $2000 immediately. Everything was going by so quickly and it never dawned on me that this card was charged even before I knew of approval or getting the actual card.The proposal was signed at Westgate ******************************* in ********* on 06/27/24 and within 24 hours they were called to request the cancelation of the proposal, refund to checking account and credit card payment returned. A total of six individuals including those that completed the deed was contacted. We requested the cancellation with all refunds returned, but we got the run around until one manager agreed that the proposal can be canceled in writing within 3-5 days.On 06/28/24 all coupons, gift cards, tablet and items they gave us were returned along with our signed written request through our local post office. **** delivered a written request to cancel the account on 07/01/24. A follow up call was made to the agent that completed the transaction, who rudely said to call corporate to cancel then hung up on me.

      I had a reservation on July ***** I called early and asked for a first level floor because I am 64 years old and have trouble with stairs and assured no problem I was put on a third floor On the registration I was told $50.00 fee for both my rooms 2 and I made the payment Then the resort fees came to $684.00 twice So paid it and later found out it was a mistake Then the use of the indoor pool came to $35.00 per person x5 These hidden fees should on the website because most of us are not owners

      In addition, our records indicate an accidental charge was made at the front desk; however, our staff quickly corrected this.
