1 starIf I could give them 0 stars I would. The check in line is awful. Elderly people expected to wait in a long line just to check in..then wait for another hour to be called back Thats just the tip of the iceberg - after waiting for almost three months for my cataract surgery (I am totally blind in my right eye) I was sent a text message telling me they had but been able to verify my insurance and my surgery was cancelled. I had already paid for *****, preop appointment, and obtained medical clearance; all which required me to take time off from my teaching job. There was no sense of urgency on Magruders end to expedite my surgery despite the severity. I am having surgery elsewhere which is being expedited due to the severity of my issue.Review fromAlexis R

1 starAbsolutely worst experience, I wish I could give zero stars. I made an appointment for a contact lens prescription, something that I've had my entire life and has never taken more then 45 mins - 1.5 hours MAXIMUM from start to finish. The staff and the actual doctor were nice enough but with an appointment time of 1:30, I got there at 1:15 (like they ask you to, theoretically, so you can start on time). I ended up not leaving until after 4 PM-- absolutely ridiculous. I waited > 1:15 to even start the process and then sat in ANOTHER waiting room for 40 minutes. I had to go get my prescription during the work day and I have never had my time so absolutely disrespected. I would have just got my things and left if they hadn't kept moving me and telling me I would be seen quickly. Because everything took so long, I asked to see a supervisor and instead of even being told "I'm sorry" at ALL, I was told that the standard appointment time was 3 hours so I "might as well have my records released because I am not going to go back and forth with you." I was not belligerent, I never raised my voice, but I have never been treated so badly in a professional setting. Well, don't worry-- we won't have to go back and forth about whether 3.5 hours is reasonable for a simple contact prescription because I would rather slowly peel off my toenails and bleed to death than go back to this circle of h*** I have never asked to see a supervisor before so to be essentially dismissed and gaslit is so unbelievably unprofessional.Review fromGail G

**** **** office cancelled my appointment 4 times. I called for an appointment and had a eye infection and the nurse gave me one for November and said someone would call me. Three weeks later I got an appointment because they never called back, in ********* with ** ****** I waited one hours and drove far and the nurse said we cancelled your appointment and the ** will not see you we can make another appointment. The staff is not nice and they just don't care. Then the ** will not see me with an infection that needed to be treated. I would not recommend any office with Magruder Eye.Magruder Eye Institute

My husbands first visit there was July 18th, and he returned 8/ 5th to have his eye measured for cataract surgery and was told surgery would be in a couple of weeks as the whole month of September was open. My husband was told that someone would be contacting him to schedule the appt. It is now 9/ 14th and we have yet to hear from anyone, numerous voicemails have been left to no avail. They NEVER answer the phone! The least they could do is call to give us a status on the surgery date as this is ridiculous and we are contemplating going elsewhere! I had my annual appointment on **** 18,2024. They called to confirm the appointment which I said I would attend. One the 18th, I drove to the ***** AVe location. When I checked in to see **************, I was called up to the desk and told there would be no visit that that day. No explanation was offered. The girl rescheduled the appoinmtner for July 18 at 10 AM This past Saturday, July 15, 2024, I received a bill from Magruder for the **** 18 appoimmnent. I called this morning and spoke to someone in billing. I explained to him what had happened.k. He then told me the bill was for my last years appointment and that they sent several invoices for payment. I looked on my copy of thebwill and it clearly said the bill was for **** 18,2024 and in the section about owing for services over 30, 60 and 90 days, there was no amounts listed. It was all 0. The guy insisted the bill was from a previous appointment and didn't want to hear anything else. He said I would have to pay before seeing the doctor again. I told him I wasn't paying and that further I was no longer going to to to such a poorly run practice. I called again and canceled my upcoming appointment. There seemed to be little interest in why I wasn't returning.. I am keeping my bill in case they contact a collector at which time I will consider suing the practice.Magruder Eye Institute

I have reviewed your account, and there is a balance from your visit in 2023. This visit went through you insurance, was approved, and applied to your deductible/co-ins. I am sorry that the statements you received don't show anything, but I am mailing you an account ledger, along with a copy of the *** from Florida Blue.
Unfortunately, we cannot write off this balance, as it violates our contractual agreement with your insurance company. Likewise, not paying your responsibility violates your contractual obligations with Florida Blue.
We are happy to arrange a payment plan however, should you want to go that route.

5 starsI've been a patient at Magruder Eye Institute for over three years without any issuesuntil now. This year, the accounting department contacted me, claiming I owed a balance from last year, which was absurd because I always settle my dues before leaving.Upon investigation, I discovered that the problem stemmed from ********** failure to file the proper paperwork for the **** assistance. Initially, they tried to shift the blame onto me, falsely stating it was my responsibility to file the papers. However, **** confirmed that only the doctor's ****** could do this. After numerous frustrating interactions, including a three-way call with ****, it became clear that Magruder's ****** had completely dropped the ball.Despite this, the accounting department continued to wrongfully hold me accountable. The supervisor, clearly embarrassed by the situation, informed me they still expected me to pay. They have now denied me the essential shots for my eyes, jeopardizing my health due to their incompetence.The medical staff and doctors have been excellent, but the accounting department's handling of this situation has been nothing short of atrocious. They rarely answer calls, never return messages, and their overall customer service is abysmal. This experience has been incredibly stressful and disappointing. I would strongly advise others to reconsider before choosing Magruder Eye Institute, as their mishandling of critical paperwork and abysmal customer service can have severe consequences for patients.Review fromSummer G

Horrible wait time, the company over books! I spent 3hrs waiting to see the doc. Just for the doctor to seem burnt out and not personable. I will not be returning, everyones time is valuable. They dont value the patients.Magruder Eye Institute

We have recently started a full template change, with the hope that it will aid in reducing our wait times, combined with increasing staffing and finishing construction at our main location. 1 starI am wondering where my first review is. Do they, Magruder, NOT want my review, so far , be published??? So far, I would NOT recommended Magruder Eye Center for cataract and lense placement at all. I still don't know what is going to be the outcome regarding my left eye. Absolutely the worst choice. They screwed up my Caterac surgery so bad I now need a cornea transplant. After putting in the wrong lense because of “botched” paperwork according to Dr Beneke. he asked after the surgery instead of before “you did want this eye fitted with a lens for distance correct?” No that was wrong! So after rushing around to find the correct lease he now is nervous & nicks my cornea while proceeding to exchange the incorrect lens with the correct lens. While required more anesthesia. 9 months later I am still getting bills from Mills avenue anesthesia. Absurd Do yourself a favor & find a competent factor your eye surgeryMagruder Eye Institute

1 starNO STARS!!!!!! They took my elderly parent on a wild goose chase when she went for an eyeglass rx...with 3 hours of exams and two dilation procedures later they told her they were done. She asked for her rx, and they told her she couldn't get one! WHAT???? Unreal...so they told her to make ANOTHER appointment. She came back and they started the SAME process AGAIN! When she said she already went through all that, she was sent to a back room. read an eye chart, was out within 10 min and they tossed her a "prescription". We didn't trust them anymore at this point. Took her to another optometrist today...WOW!!!! COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PRESCRIPTION!!! AND the exam was MUCH longer!!!! SENIORS BEWARE!!!! Considering our next steps.
