I finally got gas drove away and they didn’t even fix the noise or brakes on the rear of my rear wheel drive car that had brake and hydraulic fluid leaking which was the safety issue and the repairs I wanted told me to bring it back up there and they would look at it again and I was scared they would do it again so I went somewhere else to get the problem fixed. Then when I pick it up from the other company that fixed the problem the abs light came on read aright front sensor was faulty which was built into the hub and that’s when I checked the receipt from a-1 he made me sign to get my keys and see this stuff he filled out not me nor did I know that was going to be filled in and says they did a hub assembly that this sensor is built into so I believe they took out my old one and changed it for another crown Vic that was in their yard then charged my card for work and money I didn’t authorize or ask for and fee like I can’t do anything about it I had to get my carBusiness Response

The Customer brought her car in and said it was making a noise and she did not know what it was but it was loud, We diagnosed that her Passenger side wheel bearing was about to fall out and making a grinding noise. We also noticed that her front and rear brakes needed pads and rotors, and they were making noise after we replaced the passenger side hub Assy Also. The customer paid to have the front brakes repaired but not the rear brakes because she siad she was broke and did not have the money. I wrote on her paper work that she needed rear pads and rotors and gave her a copy, which she signed by the way. She signed the paperwork so she knew that they were needing to be replaced and when she came by the shop to get some medicine out of her car , My shop Foreman even showed her the damage to the rear brakes and explained to her what needed to be replaced. As far as the credit card goes I explained to her that if i took her credit card there would be an extra charge and if she paid by cashiers check there would not be. As far as the gas in the car, The gas light was on when she dropped it off.Initial Complaint

On March 7, 2023 my husband and I took my 2008 Hummer H3 vehicle to A-1 Transmission Auto Repair. The next day I wire transferred $5525. as requested to order and install a new transmission. On March 23, 2023 we picked up the vehicle. My husband was given a receipt for the work. The receipt stated "Paid in full" in the amount of $5000. When my husband questioned the amount of the receipt, the owner said that he was not going to give the refund of $525 that we over paid, and he refused to discuss it any further.Business Response

I explained to the customer that the correct amount was the 5525 that they had wired to us. If the amount was only 5000 that is how much i would have told them to wire us. I explained to the customer that it was a mistake on my part when i filled out the receipt. He yanked the paper out of my hands which i was going to rewrite and was very rude and said that it was my problem not his.. He totally understood what was going on.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: Any business is responsible for the amount that they charge on the receipt. I do not believe that a business can later state "I made a mistake" as he then said that he has done this to other customers. This enables him to keep any funds above the amount that is on the receipt, which happens to be $525.00. In reference to this, how many other customers has A-1 Transmission done this to? This is a way for this business to pocket cash and NOT claim it as income. This is an issue that I feel also needs to also be sent to IRS for them to review and order an audit on A-1 Transmission, for possible tax evasion.
Sincerely,

Date - Started January 2022 / Ended June 2022 On this one repair $4000 (other times charged more then originally quoted without 1st asking for permission) A rebuilt transmission with a warranty The transmission that was supposedly rebuilt is already broke(less than a month), business owner is saying it is another part on the outside of the transmission and not covered. They want us to pay for the tow to bring it back to the shop and for the cost to fix this part called the rooster comb. The owner Jeff ****** is a rip off / con man! From reading other complaints it seems that he purposely puts cheap parts on a vehicle while charging the customer for the high end parts, He doesn't back up his work, he blames everyone around him, the customer, the warranty company HE CHOOSES and so on.Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/22) */ Contact Name and Title: Jeff Martin Contact Phone: 850-769-5468 Contact Email: [email protected] We rebuilt the customer's transmission and after he picked it up he said he had a problem with it only wanting to start in neutral and said he was gonna run it by the shop because he was working on the road over from us and I told him to run it by and he ran it by the shop and he talk to my mechanic and my assistant manager and stated he was going to bring it in Monday we had told him to bring it in as soon as possible so we could address the situation and he did not bring it in Monday like he said and called up Tuesday and said it was broke down on the side of the road. I told him through numerous conversations with him and his girlfriend that they needed to get the vehicle towed to us so we could check it out and everything and he said he was going to do that and I never heard from him again. He had said something about the cost of the towing I'm not sure where the vehicle is at the moment but as I explained we do not pay for Towing as it is stated on our repair order. He just needs to get the vehicle to us and we stand behind all of our work that we do just like we have for the many years that we have been here. Without looking at the vehicle we don't know exactly what's going on with it. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/07/22) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) 1st, it broke down on Monday. 2nd since the issue is the transmission and the owner states that they rebuilt it, it should be the owner's responsibility to pay for the vehicle to be taken back to the shop and pay for whatever is wrong with it. The owner wants us to pay to have it towed back to his shop and then pay for whatever is wrong with the transmission and the labor to fix it AGAIN! 3rd the owner only spoke to me (the girlfriend) once and he stated that what was wrong was not related to the part of the transmission that they rebuilt... If the transmission was rebuilt then the transmission shouldn't have anything wrong with it especially after just a couple of weeks. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/07/22) */ As stated before we will not know what is wrong with the vehicle until we get it in our possession. If it has anything to do with what we did when we rebuilt the transmission it is covered under warranty just as many transmissions have been over the years we have been in business. But at this point we do not know what exactly is going on with the vehicle that is why they need to get the vehicle to us it is not our responsibility to tow a vehicle in that we have worked on. That is why it is stated on the repair order that we do not cover Wrecker service. Also when I had talk to the owner he said he was going to have it towed in so we could get it repaired because he needed his truck as soon as possible. Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2022/07/26) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The owner of A-1 transmission told me over the phone that his mechanic had already diagnosed the problem. He made a big show of having his mechanic come close to the phone to say it was some switch on the outside of the transmission and that it was not apart of the transmission. As for the towing, since the vehicle broke down less than 2 weeks after picking it up from A-1 and it broke down because of the transmission the owner of A-1 should be responsible to tow the vehicle back to his shop. Bottom line, we do not trust Jeff ******, he will find a way to not take responsibility for what is wrong with the transmission. We have taken the truck to another shop that unlike A-1 has 4.5 star rating to diagnose the problem. The only resolution that is acceptable at this point is for A-1 / Jeff Martin to pay for the repair and labor at the other shop.
