My husband and I wanted to purchase a **** **** Excursion from this dealer. We are out of state, so everything had to be done by phone and e-mail. We agreed on a purchase price and were told they would hold the truck with a signed purchase agreement while financing or cash was obtained. I asked if I could give money immediately for a deposit to hold it and they refused and said a signed purchase agreement is good enough. We were told they would be able to use one of their lenders to finance so I submitted a credit application. After no response from the dealer, we called to check status. We were then told due to the age of vehicle it cant be financed. They should have known this before running my credit. So we said ok we will pay cash but just to move some things around but could wire the money in a day. We were told this is fine and since we had a signed purchase agreement we thought we were ok. The next morning my husband calls to get the information for the wire or transfer of funds. We were then told the vehicle sold the day before. Not only did they violate a signed purchase agreement, they ran my credit knowing the vehicle was ineligible for financing and that it really didnt exist anymore as they sold it to someone else. This seems to be a very shady business practice. How can they sell the vehicle from under us when we had a signed agreement? Why did they continue to communicate with us regarding purchase if they already sold it to someone else?Business response

Mr. and ******************* were pursuing their own vehicle financing after the dealership was unable to secure a loan. They told the salesperson they would like to use their own credit union as a third party lender ,which we had agreed too. A later time they inform the dealership employee that they were unable to get an approval from their own credit union and may pay cash but would let us know. At that point the vehicle is considered back on the market and available for sale.

On August 12, 2023, I traded my 2020 Jeep Gladiator to Gettel ******* of Sarasota for a 2016 ***** XC60. My Jeep was paid for. I was also to receive $13,000 cash. To date, after numerous contacts and attempted contracts, I have not received any funds. I also see that my Jeep is being advertised for sale on their site.Business response

Customer purchased vehicle on 08/12/2023 equity checks typically take 10 business days to clear accounting. I personally spoke with customer this customer and explained the process about a week after the transaction. I asked if they would like to pick up the check or have it mailed, they agreed to mail.
Hurricane ****** may have cause some delay in mail.
I've tried numerous times to reach the customer since receiving this ******************** complaint with no success. I've since attached a copy of the check that was issued and cleared ********************** account.
Hopefully this settles any concern.

This company is so so shady! They tried to scam me and my fianc out of a repair that was in warranty. Our vehicle had overheating issues and it happened a few times. First time was on way back from ****** and we were stuck on side of road. Other time there was gushing sounds and knocking which found out was apart of cooling system. Always was covered due to faulty system. This last time it overheated on thanksgiving and we got it towed here. They said the car over heated because we hit something and cracked it. I tried explaining there was no impact and the guy tried saying must have been a parking curb. He determined all this because there was scratches on the skid plate!!!?? Thats what a skid plate is for!!! Yo protect the cars engine area. Well we got it looked at by a different mechanic and I have the radiator and there no crack you can see were it overheated and swolled up and burst. 2 different mechanics from 2 different shops looked at the radiator and said there was no impact like they said. They tried changing us $2600 to fix radiator that should have been in warranty and then charged $300 just to release our car to go get second opinion.Business response

Attached you will find a copy of the video inspection that was also provided to *************************. It shows that an outside influence damaged the vehicle. Authorization for Warranty coverage is granted by Hyundai ***************** and not at the Dealership level. We take integrity in our business dealings very seriously. On 0ctober 4, 2022, I leased a car from Gettel Hyundai of Sarasota. Part of me agreeing to the purchase agreement was the return of $150.00 for charging $5000.00 on my credit card. At the time, that ******** (my salesperson) told me of the charge of 3% for charging the $5000.00, I refused to pay the charge and said I would return after going to the bank to withdraw the money and he spoke to somebody and returned and stated that "they will refund you the money". I said fine.I then went to finance where I saw ******************* and asked him about the refund and he did not know what I was talking about. He left the room, spoke to somebody and returned and said "no problem, it will be refunded" to me. In leaving, I asked ******** where my refund is and he said "it takes two to three weeks". I believed him and said ok.I returned to pick up the car on October 6, 2022 and received the paperwork including a Gettel Automotive Group Check Request form made out to me for $150.00 with my address, with a signiture that approved the refund and again was told it would take 2 to 3 weeks. The form I received is attached.Since, October 6, 2022, I have been trying to get this refund. Its been one excuse after another. One excuse was they did not have my DD214 (military discharge) because there was a $ ****** credit for being in the military. I sent them that. Then they did not have my new insurance cards, so I sent them that (for the 2nd time). I have receipt for both items. I have a complete log of my conversation with ******** concerning the payment of this $150.00 which if necessary I will get printed out from my phone which he indicates that I am entitled to the money and does not know why and can't find out why it has not been sent.There is no reason for not sending me the refund promised me.Business response

We appreciate the inquiry into this matter. Upon receipt of this information, Gettel Hyundai of Sarasota contacted our corporate office. We were assured the check has been issued to ******************** and cashed. We apology for any inconvenience this delay caused. We consider this concern to be closed.Customer response

We were not even looking for a car that day but decided to stop for the fun of it. We met Santiago, one of the salesmen and were thoroughly pleased. He was not pushy, very knowledgeable, and just down to earth. We decided to take a look at some numbers on a 2020 Sonata. After the usual going back and forth between Santiago and his manager, Jorge, we negotiated an out the door price of $30,000 that satisfied us all. After waiting at least a couple hours to go meet with Michael K. in finance, we were looking at it almost being 8pm. I've done this many times and was prepared to tell Mr. K. that I did not want any extras added on to my vehicle. When he got to the Gap and Extra Warranty negotiating, I held strong and politely told him no thank you. He then questioned why and we went back and forth until he stated "would you agree to sign for this package if it was only $1 more on your monthly payment?" I, of course, asked him "how are you able to do that?" He simply stated "I have coupons." I questioned this offer again as I know this is where numbers can be "played with" but he promised me he "does this all the time." Unfortunately, I trusted him and now feel completely swindled. Yesterday in the mail, I received my loan information from GTE Financial and go figure, my total loan amount is somehow now $33,409.05. That's $3.409.05 over our negotiated out the door price. It's a 75 month term so if Mr. K. had kept his promise of a $1 more a month on my payments, that would have only been another $75. At what would have been an easy 5 star review, is now a mere 1 star review due to these typical deceiving tactics. I'm now understanding why people go to no haggle dealerships nowadays.Business response

We appreciate your business and inquiry into this matter. Ms. **** met with our General Manager, Mark B. on 4/2/22 and they resolved the situation. Our goal is always to provide great service and restore confidence back in our Dealership. Gettel Hyundai of Sarasota considers this case to be closed. We had a meeting this past Saturday with the General Manager and we came to a resolution both parties were happy with. Addendum: After my 1 star review, their Customer Relations Manager, Melissa B., called me and apologized profusely in regard to our experience in the finance department. She even arranged a meeting with the General Manager, Mark B. to find a resolution to our complaint. We met this past Saturday and were greeted by Jorge A., our amazing Sales Manager. He even sat in on the meeting with us as he was there during our purchase. Mr. B. was kind, caring, and listened to our complaint. He immediately came to a resolution that was very satisfying to us. What a professional group of employees. It shows that it starts from the top and works it's way down. Mark and Jorge were just fantastic. We truly felt as though they cared about us and that is a rare find nowadays. Thank you for all you do ... we appreciate you!Initial Complaint

My vehicle has been at their shop for over a month and they refused to accommodate me with another vehicle until they can fix mine they have a check in their hands and it just sitting there waiting on parts. This is a very inconvenient to me and my family I need a vehicle until the meantime. It makes no sense for me to continue to make payments on a vehicle that I'm not even using.Business response
