Curry replaced my roof in 2021 with a new tile roof with a 15 year warranty. The roof is leaking. I have called the warranty department 2 times. They took my name but no one ever called. I have called the general help line 2 times. I have been told " I am in the queue" and then "well we didn't know your roof wasn't fixed." This has been going on for weeks.

I recently had my roof replaced by Roofing by Curry. 2 weeks after, I heard critter activity in my attic and subsequently saw a rat on my roof coming out of the flashing area. I called the project manager and he acknowledged that the flashing was not installed and secured properly. The reason he gave was that it was in a difficult spot. A roofing company handles tight spots on a daily basis. He attempted to fill the open space with silicone, which wasnt the proper way. I then speak to another project manager and he told me the first manager didnt know the proper way to fix it, but he will secure it properly. Twice, hes been a no call no show , I now cant get anyone to fix the shoddy workmanship that two managers confirmed was due to their crew not securing the flashing properly. They will not allow me to speak with the owner. Ive never had rats before because it was always sealed , now I have two issues to deal with. I just want this company to install the flashing the correct way.

Sorry for the late response we've been dealing with an extremely high volume since the passing of Hurricane ***.

It is our understanding that the flashing was repaired on the afternoon of the 26th to *************************** satisfaction. We are willing and have always been willing to resolve the issue. If *********************** is still having an issue to please let us know and we will respond accordingly.

      Respectfully,

      ***** Curry

I had Roofing by Curry bid a roof replacement last July. They bid my roof at $11,400, and I agreed to have them replace my roof. Never once was I told there would be / could be additional charges at the end of the job. They sent me a contract via electronic signing that said total price $11,400 at the bottom. When the job was complete and paid for, I was sent an additional invoice for over $2,500 in additional charges for wood. I was NEVER talked to about these costs before accepting the bid, or while the work was being done. I never saw photos of rotten wood. I told the company that I didn't think this was right or fair, they had multiple reps call me with threats, called me names, etc. Now they have put a lien on my house, because the job that I was told would be $11,400 (and I paid) was billed at $14,000 and I haven't paid the $2,500 extra that I've been billed. Deceptive bid, deceptive contract.

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2021/11/05) */ Thai is a very unfortunate situation. ****** initialed the third lined item in our contract (image 1) which is very clear and that the wood cost-chart (image 2) takes up a better half of the page and is simply not something that a reasonable person can say was deceptive. When we look at the contractual items attached it's hard to think that someone can say they were blindsided when the initial's beside the issue at hand was signed. We purposely require initials by certain line items to bring extra attention so customers understand that these items are particularly important. As far as we can tell ******'s main complaint was that the extra wood charges line item wasn't explained better to her. The transaction was done remotely as ****** is in a different state and that is why businesses use written contracts. We have adjusted our protocol to make sure that going forward every sales rep intentionally mentions the woodwork chart whether meeting in person, virtually, or remotely so this doesn't happen again. We attempted several times to resolve the matter by offering to reduce the outlasting balance owed by 50% but she refused to accept our offer. This offer still stands if she is willing to accept it. Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2021/11/12) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) As said in my complaint, I was given a bid and contract that stated at the bottom of contract that the cost of replacement would total just under $11,400. I fully believed that to be my final cost. Nobody at the company ever mentioned any extra costs to me (I spoke to multiple reps prior to job start), and I trusted that I was dealing with a fair and honest company. I was sent an electronic document to sign, and I did not understand that there would be additional charges added. I saw the total at the bottom of contract and believed that to be my cost. 1st, I should have been told about the potential for additional costs. 2nd, why wasn't I shown photos and called when there was supposedly bad wood? Why was the opportunity not taken at that point for me to be told of extra cost? Why was there no change order? I had another company walk my roof and tell me it had at least 5 years left on it with a small repair. So how is it that Curry decides to charge me for $2,500 in bad wood without explaining, showing evidence, or having me sign a change order? They know they were deceptive, as they have now changed protocals (as stated in their response). I was called to approve a skylight, which I had to do in writing, and, having been notified and approving the change, I promptly paid it. I financed this roof. I had a budget of the bid total. I do not have extra money to put toward it. Nor do I think this was a fair or honest way to approach my business. I will agree to send Curry an additional $500 to put this to rest. I feel that is more than fair for the terrible experience I am enduring, and bad business practice on the part of the company. Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2021/11/16) */ Again this is a very unfortunate situation that you feel this way. Just to confirm our supervisor of your job responded daily by email and pictures explaining what they exposed each day and how much rotten wood had to be replaced daily in detail until your job was completed. Our supervisor said he also not only updated you by email and photos but he spoke to you over the phone reiterating the same details from the emails of the amounts of wood that was replaced. Attached in the prior email was the pricing wood chart to clearly show you how to calculate the wood that will be replaced. Unforeseen extra wood charges is a standard roofing practice in the roofing industry to charge for rotten wood that cannot be identified until you start tearing the roof off and exposing the substrate wood. No other roofing company cannot determine the amount of wood and cost on a roof until you have full exposure of the plywood deck. Again, This is an unfortunate situation and we have taken steps internally to make sure this doesn't happen again on the verbal aspect of things. We have also offered to issue you a substantial discount off the extra wood bill of 50% as a good gesture to move forward.
