On June 20, 2023, this company came for water damage inspection in the bathroom. They told me to put a claim through my insurance, and ask me to sign a contract which that contract didn't have any estimated of the ******* talking about dollar amount.I put claim through my home insurance, the insurance approved the claim for $5,000, this company want more money, with out any estimate for the job. Finally they send a invoice to the insurance, not me, but never told me the amount. And after I insisted about get estimated, they send an invoice for $21,102. Which was for mold testing and demolition for small bathroom not a tube. And they want another $22,000 to rebuild the shower.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: Unfortunately I'm not was familiar with all this procedures, WMIR come to my house and inspected the bathroom, never discussed appraisal or never pointed to me that in their contract said that will be not estimated for water damaged. They only request from them to me was to file a claim to my insurance and sign the contract I not was aware to all the terminology used in their contract. They rushed me to sign the contract with out me review the contract. When the house insurance paid the first $5,000, I received a call from them that they need more money, I asked them how much more was more for them, and I mentioned to her that I never see any invoice or estimated after they did the demolition. They told me that I can invoke the insurance, they recommended a person name ******* for do the appraisal, he want collect 20% of the appraisal. I told him unfortunately I not was available to use him for do appraisal because I will not no how much will be the appraisal. And he said he not was recommended this company (WMIR). And ****************** look the invoice for the water damaged and mentioned to me that they overcharged in demolition $7,080.
Unfortunately I have to wait until Monday August 21 for the insurance appraiser and an appraiser that I contract to review and provide with fair appraisal for this job.
The insurance already paid to WMIR the total of $17,833. for the first invoice, the estimated to bring the bathroom back is unacceptable because the estimates some items that is not necessary, following item, manipulate contents ($750), Pluming ($1,350) which I mentioned them that I will have a plumber, electrical ($950) not electrical need it, Vanity ($1,855) we not need vanity, Paint ($1500)., no need to paint, is tile only, accessories, nothing in that list is need it, Cleaning, ($500), i can clean my self.
I believe the insurance will not be available to satisfied that estimated. Because the $17,833 was the amount for the all work. If you look the picture of the bathroom the only area to be repair is the small shower 4 x 2. They overcharged in the estimated, to bring total for everything $43,369.
Sincerely,

Its a shame you feel this way *********************** the fact you never took the time to understand the contract you signed is not our responsibility. If you would have asked for more information after you read the contract, a WMIR representative would have been more than happy to help. The contract is very clear as to what your responsibilities are and what WMIRs responsibilities are. WMIR would have never started this job if you had made us aware you didnt understand or agree with the contract. WMIR charges according to industry standards and we feel our bill is accurate and justifiable. The estimate is just that, an estimate and it is subject to change hence why you have not received a bill for that portion of the project. Taking into consideration that you are unhappy with our estimate, WMIR is more than happy for you to use another contractor to have them complete the reconstruction phase as we have already completed the water damage/mold remediation and demolition relating to this project.

On Friday 7/7/23 Water mold insurance rebuild came out to the house with my wife there as I was out at work. They came for a "free evaluation" for water spot on kitchen ceiling and bedroom corner. The person that came out to the house said he had to "cut" in to the wall to see if there was mold. He cut in to the drywall and said there was no mold for leak which is coming from crack in stucco on chimney. He then talked to my wife who was caring to our 8 month old baby about calling for an insurance claim, we kept asking about private pay and he said we charge insurance. We filed a claim and later cancelled as the damage is not worth filing a claim for and we just purchased the house, insurance wont cover for an ongoing issue. He had my wife sign a paper which later they said was a contract. They never gave my wife a copy of services and that it was a contract. I came home at 5 PM from work and they left the drywall cut open with plastic over it and no covering of chimney crack where water was coming thru. they also left three machines for drying of walls. I cancelled claim and sent email Friday evening asking for machines to be picked along with numerous voicemails over the weekend with no success. they came to the house to pick up machines 7/10 and still refused to give copy of receipt. The staff member had to call the "owner" who finally sent email of contract after numerous requests. The owner also refused to give his name. They refused to repair drywall saying they are not able to fix drywalls. They also refused to give a referral to contractors that can fix drywall. They sent a bill this morning for 563 dollars for having all three machines in house on Friday and for labor of staff being there "2 hours." We are traumatized from this experience as our drywall was cut in to without repairs, no contract or receipt until numerous requests where made. to add insult we are getting a bill to pay for someone damaging our dry wall with no repairs.Business response

We are sorry to hear the client is unhappy but he is incorrect about many things and we're more than happy to address his accusations. The client called our office to set an appointment to evaluate some damage in their home. WMIR did go out for a free evaluation on 7/7/2023, which entails our company looking at the damage to see if its something we can handle and hope you hire our company to perform the necessary services. Your wife and yourself were aware of our work authorization contract as you were on the phone with her and our representative explained our process. WMIR did not perform any work prior to you signing the work authorization contract. Regarding private pay, we advised we do direct insurance billing because of the nature of this work which makes it very difficult to give an accurate estimate, please see ******* statute ********. Your wife was advised to take a photo of the contract and did so as she informed our representative your machine wasnt working so she didnt have the ability to take a photo copy.Although you canceled the claim leaving us without the ability to bill the insurance as per your work authorization contract which now leaves you responsible for full payment of the invoice, we only charged you for 1 days worth of machinery usage and 2 hours for the technician. WMIR did not refuse to give you a receipt, we provide a bill for services after a job is complete and it wasnt complete because you canceled your contract and fired us from the job. The billing department needs time to look over the file to generate a final invoice and have it approved before sending. In regards to your voicemail and emails they were not sent during normal business hours. Yes, we do return emergency calls 24 hours, this was not an emergency, you had already canceled your contract and given the okay for us to pick up the machines on Monday. However, you continued to leave a voicemail and send emails over the weekend. In one of your emails canceling your contract you even stated Looking in to other services and waiting for claims adjuster before proceeding to next steps. WMIR did not refuse to repair the drywall, again, you canceled the contract and fired us from the job. WMIR will not continue working at your property nor do we feel comfortable referring our subcontractors to an individual who fires you from the project and then expects you to continue providing services. Your drywall was damaged prior to us getting involved as you called us because you were concerned with the water damage on your ceiling. The drywall would have had to be removed regardless of the situation in order to repair it. Once again, were very sorry that youre unhappy but your wife and yourself were made aware of our work process and willingly chose to sign the work authorization contract. You canceled your contract and instructed us to remove our equipment as our services were no longer needed. This all took place on Friday and we removed our equipment on Monday as we notified you that we would. This complaint only came after we refused to discount your bill even further by taking 50% off the final invoice.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:The response is not accurate. The process was not explained and it is the company's responsibility to provide receipt of contract not us.
What kind of company does not provide receipt of contract and on top of that blames the customer for not having a printer? When is it the customers responsibility?
Not only did the company cut in to the wall they did not seal the chimney which caused futher water to get in the ceiling..
the company not only damaged the drywall they refuse to repair the damage. I have had to pay out of pocket to fix the damages they made.
the owner did not even want to provide his name when his stafff member came out to our house to pick up equipment and had him on speaker.
Sincerely,

Again, WMIR is sorry that you feel this way. After you called us to schedule an appointment which we agreed would be on a Friday, our tech did indeed go to your property on Friday. We cannot provide a copy of a document on the spot so we asked you if you wanted to take a copy and you did in the form of a photo. Our tech needs time to go back to the office and submit the paperwork before a copy can be provided to you by email. However, before we even had the chance to do so you contacted our office and cancelled your contract and fired us from the job. This all took place on Friday.
WMIR did not touch your chimney, our job is to remove the water damage not to do chimney/roof repair. We also did not damage your drywall, we started the process of doing exactly what you hired us to do and before we had a chance to return and move forward you immediately cancelled the contract firing us from the job and yet demanded at the same time that we continue working. We do not work after being fired, I dont believe any company does.
I dont understand what youre referring to regarding the owner not giving you a name as you never spoke to an owner only to our technician and office staff.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
You are not being accurate with your responses..the owner was on speaker phone and refused to give name when initially asked. I had to call later that morning and owner finally gave full name.Yes the wall was damaged as you tore in to it. I had to pay over 400 dollars to repair it and paint it..on top of that you sent us to collections without even giving us time to.pay it. Yes you should fix what you damaged.
i have never dealt with a more unprofessional dishonest company..
Sincerely,
