In August of 2022 I subscribed to our local paper through a 6 month reduced price offer. I was to be charged the reduced rate for 6 months and then reverted to the standard rate at the 6 month termination. I noticed on my cc statement today that I had been charged not only the standard rate but also for two special issues which I did not authorize. I called billing. She checked on my subscription. I was told that, "Yes I had subscribed to the 6 month discount offer in August; however, that offer was no longer available and I have been reverted to the standard issue rate despite it being only 4 months. In addition, I am being charged for two special additions that I did not request. She said she could do nothing about it, but was willing to offer the two special additions - which I never ordered or wanted - for free to account for the loss of the discounted rate. This is not acceptable. This is bait and switch advertising. I have filed a complaint with the ************************* and the ************************** I would also appreciate the assistance of the BBB in looking into this complaint, restoring my discounted subscription for the entire term of the original agreement, and having any monies owed me returned.
