I paid my account in full on February 25, 2025. On February 26, 2025 a regular monthly payment of $78.79 was mistakenly made. I called customer service about the overpayment on my account in order to obtain a refund. I was told a refund would be issued to the original form of payment within 5 to 7 days. The time period for that has passed. I called customer service again to inquire about my refund and was told that the overpayment has not been deposited into Uown Leasing's bank account so I am not entitled to a refund yet. The overpayment has been deducted and cleared from my bank account since February. If it had not been, the refund would never have been requested, or approved in the first place.

I went to purchase some jewelry with cash in hand, and for the store owner offered for me to make payments, I was kind of blindsided after the transaction was complete and he advised me that I had to call a different company to set up payment arrangements, I was not aware of this account being opened. Not being aware that the account was open initially was upsetting however, I did still walk away with the jewelry so I figure Id make payments to pay them off anyway. Fast forward to me paying off the balance for my jewelry. I log on online to see that theres a lease agreement available to make a longstory short. I never signed a loan agreement or lease agreement at all personally, I never seen one and wasnt aware I was applying for a third-party finance company or lease company so I call them because my balance doesnt look right I I financed about $1500 with them however theyre saying my balance is around 3000 and some change so I then start digging come to find out the owner of the store. Fraudulently signed the lease agreement and applied for the account with my personal information that he was supposed to put on his records for me to make payments with him. I called UOWN leasing when I seen the lease agreement that was signed under perjury, and I had advised them that I never signed that lease agreement whatsoever. I never seen lease agreement and was not aware of any interest. I also during the process advise them. I dont mind paying just simply for the balance of the jewelry, but Im not gonna pay any interest, telling them that my lease agreement was fraudulently signed without my consent they went on to interrogate me aggressively about why I made payments if I know about this lease as if I didnt explain already I let them know the situation and they thought it was smarter for me to go to the person who forged my signature and confront them about it for proof. So they ultimately verbatim told me whether I like it or not I am going to pay the lease

    Hi ******,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention - we'd like to confirm that this account has been cancelled and there is no financial obligation to us. All payments have been refunded and should reflect in your account in 3-5 business days.

We take matters like this very seriously, and to prevent issues like this, we only send the lease agreement either to the cell phone number of the customer or their personal email. We sent this directly to the email address you provided in this complaint (attached). The merchant would have needed to access your personal email to sign on your behalf. Are you able to provide us any details regarding this? It is important we gather all the necessary information to ensure we are doing our due diligence in investigating a claim like this.

Uown didn't get a valid contract for the item i recieved, yet charged me anyways.Uown failed to stop charging me per the contract terms.Uown failed to participate in the voluntary repo per the contract. Uown then maliciously sent my information to debt collectors and I have had several remove the collection from my report using the information I am adding to this complaint.Uown owes me a refund plus compensation for damaging my credit for 2 years repeatedly

    Business Response

    Date: 04/07/2025

    Hi *******,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We want to acknowledge your frustration and take a moment to clarify whats occurred so far.
When we were first notified of your accident, we provided merchandise recovery instructions per your request via email. We understand you preferred someone to reach out to you instead; however, because merchandise recovery is a voluntary actionas you notedwe are unable to initiate that outreach ourselves.

In April 2023, we stopped autopay and suspended communications per your request (please see the attached confirmation) and confirmed that we sent instructions for merchandise recovery. Unfortunately, we did not hear back until January 2024. At that point, we offered to settle the account and assist with credit removal, understanding that significant time had passed and returning the merchandise may no longer have been possible.

We do understand how this situation could be frustrating, and we made every effort to provide a fair path forward based on the circumstances. At this point, we are unfortunately unable to take further action on this account.
If you have any remaining questions or if anything was unclear, were happy to clarify.

I am rejecting this response because:
The contract states how to proceed with voluntary repossession, and when to stop charging, you violated both and set my incoming calls to automatically hang up. I never recieved the contracted item. You have passed the debt multiple times and the collectors drop the collection because you do not have a valid contract. Charging my account for different amounts over and over were  not legal attempts to withdraw money from my account, as authorization had been revoked as per the contract terms. Voluntary repossession was authorized, previously attached documents show that you attempted to make me go outside of the contract, and refused to honor the terms in that respect as well. My credit has been damaged due to the business's actions. Full refund check mailed, and wipe the records off my credit. Thank you.
    Sincerely,

    ******* **********

    Hi *******,

We want to sincerely apologize for any frustration this situation has caused and appreciate the opportunity to clarify the steps we took.

We removed all call communications on April 12, 2023, and stopped card drafts on April 18, 2023, per your request. At that time, we also provided merchandise recovery instructions via email, outlining the steps needed to move forward, including submitting photos of the merchandise to verify its condition.

Unfortunately, we did not receive the required photos, which prevented us from proceeding with the recovery process. In an effort to resolve the matter, we then offered a reduced settlement amount and a removal of your credit, recognizing that this may have been a preferred alternative.

We understand that this is a key point in your complaint. However, because no resolution was agreed upon and you explicitly asked us not to contact you further, the account was eventually placed with another company.

We truly understand how frustrating this has been. Please know that we made several attempts to reach a fair resolution while the account remained active with us. It's also important to note that the amount paid to us is below the fair market value of the items you had in your possession and used, which represents a loss on our end as well.

We genuinely regret that we were unable to find a mutually agreeable solution and hope this helps provide clarity on the actions taken. If you are still seeing the Uown tradeline, you can reach TransUnion's E-Oscar Support: ************ or ************************* to have it removed.

I am rejecting this response because: The business is still standing behind the attempt to make me believe that that them trying to force me to proceed out-of contract while violating the contract that wasn't even a valid contract, was normal course of business. This is proved by evidence submitted by both myself and the business. The emails show that the business violated the contract by not having the voluntary repossession team contact me, by charging me illegally in varying amounts across state lines with invalid ACH debits after authorization was withdrawn. The emails show that uown failed to obtain a valid contract for the item, making all payments collected as invalid. The business owes me a refund, and needs to stop violating wire fraud laws.

    Sincerely,

I wanted to purchase a larger item from a vendor and Uown came up as a possible solution for me. I did want my item but I didnt want to exhaust all my funds in the process of making my purchase. After several attempts to actually become a customer of ********************** failed. I tried to call and email the company to ask what was the process. This was an impossible endeavor and I was even hung up on multiple times by their customer service. Eventually I found all the negative reviews from customers and the horrible experiences they had with this Uown company. Many even calling them a scam company. I was happy I didnt become their customer and found another ********************** to finance my purchase through Pay Tomorrow. The vendor actually recommended Pay Tomorrow as an option after I complained to them about Uowns lack of customer service and how they even gave me false instructions on how to initiate a mess with my vendor for my items. I eventually checked out with my vendor using the Pay Tomorrow option at check out. And the vendor also has me on record as being a customer of the third party ********************** company named Pay Tomorrow and not Uown. These are two different companies and *** confirmed this with representatives from each company. Well, somehow Uown has intercepted my lease attempt with Pay Tomorrow through some sort of shady fraudulent cyber activity because now I have a lease with Uown and not Pay Tomorrow. These vendor has confirmed that I choose Pay Tomorrow at check out and not Uown. Again, somehow Uown has fraudulently taken a customer away from Pay Tomorrow and inserted false pretenses has a lease agreement with me when I believed I was a customer of Pay Tomorrow as well as the vendor believes I was a Pay Tomorrow customer. Now I have stopped payments to ********************** and Im waiting for an explanation from them of how this occurred. I dont mind paying for my item and I wanted Pay Tomorrow. Im being harassed by Uown and all I ask for is an explanation from them. And I still wait. Bad

    Hi ***** -

Thank you for reaching out and allowing us to clarify. Pay Tomorrow is a lending platform that partners with multiple lenders through a waterfall lending model. They also operate as a lender themselves. Uown and Pay Tomorrow work together, with Uown serving as the lender for the subprime category of loans.

When customers apply through Pay Tomorrow, their application is processed through the waterfall model, which determines their lending options based on underwriting criteria. In your case, your lending option fell under the subprime category, with Uown as the designated lender.
Uown brands all signing documentation to ensure transparency, making it clear when a customer is entering into a ********************** agreement with Uown as the lender. Before signing, you have the opportunity to review all Uown-branded contracts and documents.

At this point, we recommend one of the following options:
    1. Cancel the lease Work with Uown, the merchant, and Pay Tomorrow to cancel the agreement and return the items.
    2. Pay out your lease Fulfill the remaining balance of your lease agreement with Uown.
We hope this clears things up - please let us know how youd like to proceed or if you need further clarification.

I applied for credit with this company and was granted a $2050 credit limit. Upon going to the website to purchase the product I was interested in, I was denied credit. I had already been approved! I have received two different emails stating that I have been approved for $2050 and now they are telling me that I am not approved and to try again in 30 days. This is unacceptable! You cannot tell someone that they are approved, TWICE, and then tell them that you are sorry, but they made a mistake? NO! I was approved TWO times with this company and I want them to stand behind that decision! Why tell me that I was approved and then tell me that I am not? Again, I have two different emails from this company stating that I was approved and now they are backtracking and telling me that they are sorry and to try again in 30 days.

I have been paying on my loan since around September I believe and had a mostly positive experience.Within the two weeks this has become a nightmare, Im being charged extra and then told Im late and get fees when there are no missing payments. Ive tried to call and cannot reach anyone and I have sent around 6 emails with no response. Im so frustrated at this point with no answers.

    Hi *******,

Thank you for reaching out. After reviewing your account, we noticed a few insufficient funds declines on your scheduled due dates since the start of the lease. Recently, payments on 1/10, 1/24, 2/7, and 2/21 incurred a $15 fee, which contributed to the account falling behind.

As a courtesy, we have refunded two of these fees back to your credit card. If adjusting your due date to Saturdays moving forward would help ensure sufficient funds are available, please let us knowwed be happy to assist.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your time. Please dont hesitate to reach out with any questions.

I am rejecting this response because:
This information is not correct. I have included my payment history to show on 1/10 I paid and then you tried to charge it again, but yet it doesnt show any fees. On 1/24 the same thing happened and it does not show any fees. On 2/7 I paid the past due, current and the fee yet another $22.76 was taken from my account. That should have gone towards the 2/21 and there should be no fees. I contacted customer support multiple times after 2/21 and no one ever return an email or left a message. There should be no fee for that date. So then on 02/28 I was charged for the current payment and an extra $60.52 was taken from my account. I then got an email confirmation that it was for 12/24/2024. How does that make any sense and still no response from customer support. At this point I have paid well over $500 am working on paying off the other $700 (for tires) but I do not feel comfortable with this company having my banking information as it is regularly abused with no explanation. I need a better explanation and understanding of whats going on and how it will be handled moving forward. I will not being making anymore payments until this is worked out and I should not be charged any fees for doing so.
    Sincerely,

    Hi *******,

To clarify a few points on your payment history

Attached is the payment history for recent transactions 1/10 and 1/24 our autopay attempt declined, you subsequently paid them on the same days- we did not reprocess these. You will not see *** fees as these were waived in our previous conversation.

On 2/7 we did not receive any payment. Attached is the decline receipt.

Subsequent reprocessing is attempting to cover the **** generated from 1/10, 1/24, 2/21 and 2/28.

We understand this has caused a negative experience and we truly want to make it right.

All **** on this account have been waived and have been used to cover your next three due dates (3/7, 3/14, 3/21)
an additional refund of the excess ($5.00) has been processed to CC 0195.

If you'd like to re-start autopay, we would recommend moving the due date 1-2 days to allow for your funds to be available, or you can choose to make payments yourself online.

We'd like to extend our apologies for the billing issues and hope this is a sufficient resolution.

I have used you UOWN Quite a few times with no problems however this past experiprocessed a full payoff.I received an email stating congratulations, for paying of your loan and thank you for choosing us. However, on February Fifth I received a phone call stating that I had a missed payment. I was absolutely shocked provided I had processed a payment and received an email.upon looking further I can see that the payment was never actually processed from my account despite there being enough funds. They are telling me they have no record of it. Yet I received an email on January 26 from Uown stating that I was paid off. I asked if I could still make the payment and they told me it would now be $300 more than the 26th. what I dont understand is why I received this email why I their website allowed me to go through the entire process online and say it was completed for them to have no record of it. Uown should make this right. out of all five of my leases Ive never had a problem before and Im really shocked with the customer service from them this time around.

Bought a bracelet from ********************** and was not informed about paying an extra 2500. Thats way too much money to charge for interest when the item was only 2200. If I didnt pay 1200 more when I called them I would have had to pay that 2500 extra. I called uown leasing to see why it was that much and lady gave little info on why. Out of nowhere they tell me if I pay a certain amount when I called I wont have to pay more which doesnt make sense especially if I wasnt told I would be paying that much from *******.
