I would prefer to give this business no stars if I could. If you're a handicapped person, do not patronize this business. They do not follow Florida statue 316.1964 which states handicapped people are allowed to park for the first 4 hours for free. I live in SW Florida, but I verified both the state of Florida website and Tampa.gov website to verify the parking rule for handicapped people. I wasn't sure if the 4 hour rule only applied to Lee County where I live. Both the state of Florida and Tampa.gov note the above. My husband and I were near the area of Ybor City and decided to grab lunch in the city, and seeing I verified the info on both sites, we parked in the lot next to Carmine's restaurant. I have a hard time walking and we couldn't find parking out front, and walking is difficult for me. We were at Carmine's roughly an hour, if even. I had my handicapped placard displayed, but was charged $20 for parking, and a $40 fee for not paying in advance. I disputed that charge, sent screenshots of both sites stating the Florida statue, and was told that because they're a private company, they still charge handicapped people. They waived the $40 fee, but it's ridiculous that they charge $20 for one hour. No where on their lot is there anything listed that handicapped people still need to pay. Their sign only says 717parking with instructions how to pay online. Oh and I went to pay the $20 fee on their website and they charge a $5 convenience fee. Once again price gouging the consumer. I decided to mail my payment in because I refused to give them anymore of my money. They're just a greedy company that won't even accommodate the disabled. Nice going! Do not patronize this business. If you're not disabled, find on street parking or park further away if you can.
