On or about 1/16/2023 my wife and I contracted with ************************* of Happy Tails Canine Services [HTCS] for the obedience training of two Havanese puppies that we had purchased from a local breeder. The puppies were "pee-pad" trained by the breeder. ****************** assured us that both puppies would be toilet and obedience trained in two weeks. If additional training were required we were assured that such training would be provided at no additional cost. We paid half of the global price of $4,180. We were contacted on 1/29/2023 to pick up the puppies. We offered to leave the puppies with ****************** an additional week, but were assured that the puppies were professionally trained. Our daughter flew to *** on 1/30/2023 to pick up our granddaughter's puppy. Let it suffice to say that both puppies were inadequately trained. We have lost confidence in HTCS. ****************** suggested what our veterinarian characterized as improper/cruel methods for training including restriction of water intake. Our daughter spent over $1,000 in flying from *** to *** to pick up our granddaughter's puppy who was improperly trained. Furthermore, our daughter was forced to give the puppy up for adoption in light of the puppy not being properly trained. Hence, we have been the victims of a material breach in our contract with HTCS insofar as our puppy is not even remotely trained. We have been the victim of direct damages in the amount of $4,190 and $1,000 in airfare as well as consequential damages which should be recovered via the doctrine of promissory estoppel. HTCS and ****************** should be sanctioned and our money damages should be refunded.
