My husband brought our 2017 Elantra in to be serviced due to the car cutting off while idle. We initially thought it was the timing chain but received a diagnostic for a crank sensor. We had the service done and paid $319.53, however the next day the check engine light was back on. We took it back and they told us it was the timing chain so we went to another place to have it looked at only to find out they had not fixed the issue and also needed another oil change just one month later. We then spent $1500 to have those two services again and additional work done. There is a 1 year warranty on the part and we are seeking a full refund of $319.53! My husband called to address the situation and whoever he spoke with began to raise their voice at him and insisted we bring the car back to them which we refuse to do due to them not properly fixing the issue in the first place. There is no other way to resolve this issue but a refund. We work hard and its crazy that they are not completing these jobs and are taking our money. We spent almost $2000 for a problem they couldve fixed the first time. If a resolution cannot be made then a civil lawsuit will be filled against this location for ripping off their customers.

    Dear Customer Relations Representative:

I am writing  to let you know that we explain to the customer that his car has a code ***** which means Crankshaft Position Sensor is fault and at this time we recommend replacing the sensor and changing oil because it was pass due and had not oil in engine. We also advise customer that there is a possibly that the timing chain may have stretch or it may have internal engine damage due to no oil in car prior to service . Advise Customer to start with the sensor first because it most common cause and lease expensive to repair . Customer call back a week after stating  that the car is have the same issue, we inform the customer  to bring the car back so we can go over the work make sure everything was done right . Customer brought car a week and half later .  We  check over our work make sure everything was done right and also checking to see what else could be wrong, after we advise customer that the engine has some other  internal issue and we do not get that involve in those type of repairs and recommend taking it to the dealer etc...

Customer reach back out to us a a week later demand his money stating that we did not any work at all and started  screaming  that if he don't get the money back will be filing a law suit. Advise customer do as please. Customer also made a complain to the corporate office and stated something totally  different .

What was told to head office.

Customer had service done here on October 10th for oil change, they were also supposed to replace crank shaft. They continued to have issues with there vehicle and she took it to a different mechanic shop, they had made them aware that the crank shaft was not replaced and she had ended up paying $1500 for what she she was supposed to have done previously at Meineke, even though she was charged for the service. She is requesting a refund.

    Sincerely

I am rejecting this response because the initial problem was not resolved. Again when I sent my husband in we initially thought it was the timing chain but your store told us something different so we had the service that was suggested done based on the code from the diagnostic. We never reviewed a breakdown from the diagnostic stating what codes were pulled and what services were recommended, only what we were told. After a week we called then brought it back in per you alls request just to be told it was possibly the timing chain like we said in the beginning. Due to you all not fixing the problem on our initial visit we went elsewhere and was quoted for the SAME service you all were to provide on our visit. What was told to corporate was the same that was expressed over the phone with whomever my husband spoke with and here. Dont pull the half done notes the rep took, pull the actual phone call and listen to what was said.

We will not continue the back and forth as we are not accomplishing anything here and will move forward with our lawsuit and utilize other resources to resolve the issue and get our refund because this is unacceptable as well as the lack of customer service!

    Sincerely,
