    Pattern of Complaint:

    According to information in BBB files, Support Black Colleges has a pattern of complaint alleging Delivery and Refund Issues.

     

    Specifically, consumers alleged that they purchased items on Support Black Colleges' website, https://supportblackcolleges.org/, however, the items are never shipped nor received. Consumers further allege that they may receive a general response email with an update in reference to the delay of shipping but do not receive responses when they inquire about their specific product or shipping information.

     

    On February 2, 2021, BBB contacted Support Black Colleges to seek their voluntary cooperation in resolving the unanswered complaints as well as their cooperation in eliminating the pattern of complaint.



    On February 4, 2021, Support Black Colleges provided the following response to the pattern of complaint:



    "HOW WE GOT HERE
    Beginning around August 2020, a series of events led to us getting severely
    behind. Our overseas manufacturers who produce the patches for our most
    popular product, our signature adult hoodie, were closed down completely
    for several months due to COVID leaving us to only use what we had left
    and to try to find another vendor that could make the product exactly
    the same. This proved to not be possible and we simply had to wait. Our
    warehouse also suffered a massive flood that ruined many of the
    specialty items. These were pieces that we only made a limited number of
    and were not planning to produce more. Many of our customers were
    refunded. Our blank hoodie manufacturer also saw issues of their own, so
    there was limited availability for us to get what we needed.
    Simultaneously we were trying to use our funds in the way that made the
    most sense before they ran out while we were unable to run Facebook ads,
    they stopped us from being able to do so after the complaints began. We
    were able to hire a team to help us get out as many orders as possible
    and we were able to get in a somewhat decent position after that, but
    the orders continued to roll in. Over the course of these months we did
    the best we could to balance ordering merchandise, getting it produced,
    and shipping it out as quickly and as cost effectively as possible.
    During this time we felt it best to utilize all of the bodies we had to
    solely focus on getting orders filled and customer service became less
    of a priority, this includes responding to BBB complaints as well.
    Immediately once we fully realized the impact this was having we hired
    an overseas freelance rep to hop on emails as soon as possible, and our
    COO also went back to assisting with those as well.

    WHERE WE ARE NOW
    We are truly on the move! We were able to not only receive a PPP loan, but
    our new production facility can produce up to about 10,000 hoodies a
    week. Every day we ship out between 300-600 orders starting with the
    oldest ones from Black Friday. This will increase as we move into next
    week when the production facility gets the next batch complete! In
    addition to fully resuming answering individual customer service
    inquires, we have sent multiple email blasts with updates for customers
    and posted several posts and videos to our IG and Facebook pages with

    We've also sent individual updates to every single DM that comes through our IG.

    We can confidently say that we expect to be fully caught up by 02/13/2021.
    If for any reason we are not able to adhere to that another mass email
    and IG post will be sent."

    While Support Black Colleges did see a sharp decrease in complaints from June 2021 to November of 2021, their complaint totals increased significantly in the month of December 2021, and have been consistently increasing since then. The previously identified pattern of complaint involving delivery and refund issues appears to have returned.

      I placed an order, totaling ******, a sweatshirt and a pair of sweatpants on 12/23/2023. The order number is ******. I have never received the merchandise. I have reached out several times with no reply. When ordering it does state that could take 4 weeks. A tracking # was never supplied.

      The date of the transaction was December 15, 2023. I paid $135 for a hoodie, sweatpants and a fitted cap. I reached out to the company on January 15th via email and never received a response. I reached out to their customer ********************** via Instagram on 1/22. I was told my order was now in their queue and that they were working on processing unprocessed orders and that Id receive an email once my order was processed. I then reached out on 3/10 after not hearing anything and requested a refund. They said theyd check the status of my order with their team. I then reached out on 3/20 and received another apology but no update on my order but they said theyd prioritize a refund. I reached out again 4/18 and 5/25 and have not heard anything at all from this company.

      I ordered April 12 2023. I paid for an order and shipping with the terms that orders are fulfilled in 2-4 weeks. For months I've been given copy and paste responses from what is likely a bot before they stopped responding all together. order number #******

      I spent over 100 USD with Support Black Colleges and I have consistently asked for updates and refunds. They always reply saying they are working on the case but to this day nothing, hence the complaint.

      I made a purchase April 19th, 2023 and haven't received any response. All of my interactions have been an automated message. No human response and they are still accepting orders. I reached out in every way they instructed me to and I still have nothing. No refund and no merchandise.

      I bought 3 items (total with taxes and shipping: $151.20) from this company on April 9, 2023 as gifts for a religious holiday. I paid for my order in full (Order #******). I never received my items and when contacting the company, they refuse to give me the items or reimburse me for my purchase. When contacting them via email and on social media outlets, they give me the same response which I have attached below.       I purchased 2 sweatshirts from Support Black Colleges on Dec 22, 2022 and never received my items. I have emailed company several times and each response was a promised to send my items. I have never received them.Order #******-$100.00

      The issue started Nov 2021. I ordered products, all products were not available so I was sent a gift card for future a purchase. **************** advised they do not provide refunds even if the item is not in stock. Nov 22, 2022 I made a purchase with the gift card and added additional money to cover the remaining balance. I have yet to receive the merchandise or a refund. I have reached out to the company via email and social media on several occasions. Initially the company advised it was taking a break. When the company returned they advised to reach out to the customer service IG account and all issues would be handle. I am still getting the run around advising me to be patient and they are working on orders. I do NOT want another gift card and want to be refunded my ENTIRE amount. I do not want to do business with this company.

      I ordered a hoodie from the company on 11.24.22. Order #****** paid $50. After the new year and I realized that I never received them I contacted them they said they were on back order and they would get them out as soon as possible this was 1.24.23. Never heard anything else never received the hoodie. Contacted them again 3.8.23 heard back 3.13.23 we went back and forth over a couple of days and about a week or so finally I was told they no longer had the color I wanted and I was asked to pick another color. I chose another color they said they would send it out this was 4.2.23 never heard anything back so I followed back up on 4.21.23 no response. I emailed again 5.9.23 no response. I have all of the correspondence by the way. I thought well maybe they are shipping it Ill give it a few weeks but nothing. I reached out again 6.15.23 no response, then 10.27.23 no response. Each time getting a confirmation email back saying my request has been updated. 1.8.24 I reached out again the email bounced back so I looked up the site to ensure they were still in business and resent the email 1.9.24 and it went through and I received the same email confirmation and still to this date no response. I sent another email 2.21.24 to see what will happen but now I am reaching out to report them. I know people have had a lot of issues with them in the past. I had an issue with them the first time I ordered but they were new and I figured growing pains. As an AA entrepreneur myself I always want to see us win and never want to tear us down but business is business and customer service is important. Everyone works hard for their money and this is ridiculous and makes absolutely no sense. I tried and tried to work with them and reach out to no avail. No its not a lot of money its the principle for me at this point.
