    Pattern of Complaint:

    According to information in BBB files, Support Black Colleges has a pattern of complaint alleging Delivery and Refund Issues.

     

    Specifically, consumers alleged that they purchased items on Support Black Colleges' website, https://supportblackcolleges.org/, however, the items are never shipped nor received. Consumers further allege that they may receive a general response email with an update in reference to the delay of shipping but do not receive responses when they inquire about their specific product or shipping information.

     

    On February 2, 2021, BBB contacted Support Black Colleges to seek their voluntary cooperation in resolving the unanswered complaints as well as their cooperation in eliminating the pattern of complaint.



    On February 4, 2021, Support Black Colleges provided the following response to the pattern of complaint:



    "HOW WE GOT HERE
    Beginning around August 2020, a series of events led to us getting severely
    behind. Our overseas manufacturers who produce the patches for our most
    popular product, our signature adult hoodie, were closed down completely
    for several months due to COVID leaving us to only use what we had left
    and to try to find another vendor that could make the product exactly
    the same. This proved to not be possible and we simply had to wait. Our
    warehouse also suffered a massive flood that ruined many of the
    specialty items. These were pieces that we only made a limited number of
    and were not planning to produce more. Many of our customers were
    refunded. Our blank hoodie manufacturer also saw issues of their own, so
    there was limited availability for us to get what we needed.
    Simultaneously we were trying to use our funds in the way that made the
    most sense before they ran out while we were unable to run Facebook ads,
    they stopped us from being able to do so after the complaints began. We
    were able to hire a team to help us get out as many orders as possible
    and we were able to get in a somewhat decent position after that, but
    the orders continued to roll in. Over the course of these months we did
    the best we could to balance ordering merchandise, getting it produced,
    and shipping it out as quickly and as cost effectively as possible.
    During this time we felt it best to utilize all of the bodies we had to
    solely focus on getting orders filled and customer service became less
    of a priority, this includes responding to BBB complaints as well.
    Immediately once we fully realized the impact this was having we hired
    an overseas freelance rep to hop on emails as soon as possible, and our
    COO also went back to assisting with those as well.

    WHERE WE ARE NOW
    We are truly on the move! We were able to not only receive a PPP loan, but
    our new production facility can produce up to about 10,000 hoodies a
    week. Every day we ship out between 300-600 orders starting with the
    oldest ones from Black Friday. This will increase as we move into next
    week when the production facility gets the next batch complete! In
    addition to fully resuming answering individual customer service
    inquires, we have sent multiple email blasts with updates for customers
    and posted several posts and videos to our IG and Facebook pages with

    We've also sent individual updates to every single DM that comes through our IG.

    We can confidently say that we expect to be fully caught up by 02/13/2021.
    If for any reason we are not able to adhere to that another mass email
    and IG post will be sent."

    While Support Black Colleges did see a sharp decrease in complaints from June 2021 to November of 2021, their complaint totals increased significantly in the month of December 2021, and have been consistently increasing since then. The previously identified pattern of complaint involving delivery and refund issues appears to have returned.

      I ordered from business on 12/2/2022. Never received my order. Followed up 4/20/23, said they are working on a solution and should hear back. 4/29/24 requested refund, no response. Followed up again 6/18/23, no response. Continued following up with no response. 11/27/23, got a response saying to streamline need to contact support through instagram customer service. Still have not heard anything from them. Did not receive my products or a refund.

      Placed an order April 2023. I never received a tracking number regarding the shipping status of my order. May 2023 I inquired about my tracking number and order and received a ******** response asking for patience. August 2023, I was directed by SBC to DM their IG support page. 4 (seen) DM later, a copy/paste response, requesting further patience. Additional DM sent October - January 2024; no response or refund processed as I requested multiple times. I have copies of ALL my emails, DM and attempts to resolve the concern with them directly. I reached out to *********************** from the ******* news station; he did a story on them and I solicited his assistance to make contact.

      This company is advertising clothing merchandise as for sell. However, when i i purchased my item, they were never sent to me nor will the company respond to any form of communication.

      I placed an order with "Support Black Colleges" through their website back on December 15, 2023 and paid $65 for a black hoodie sweater. Since then I have sent numerous emails asking about the status of my order and have not gotten a response. The only response that I get is an automatic reply saying my message has been received. I believe that this business scammed me out of $65 with no intention of shipping me the product that is being advertised on their website. I reached out multiple times over the last two months via email, but still nothing. No shipping number or refund has been given to me either. At this point I would like the item shipped to me over night or a full refund of the $65 that I paid. I have attached proof of my purchase and a screen shot of the emails that have been sent to their customer service **********************. I would like this issue resolved with either the product or a refund of $65. My order # is ******. Thank you for your time.

      1) Transaction Date: 12/3/23 2) Amount Paid: $50.00 3) Business Commitment: Support Black College Hoodie - Black - 2XL 4) Nature of Dispute: I have not received my product. Upon purchasing, the emailed receipt asks to allow 4-6 weeks to receive the product. The email also requests that people not email them before 4 weeks for shipping notifications "as it drastically slows down the production process". The company does not list a phone number, so I emailed for shipping status on 1/10/24, a little over 5 weeks after the purchase. I received a generic emailed response on 1/10/24 stating "Your request (******) has been received and is being reviewed by our support staff." To date (more than 7 weeks since the transaction date), I have not received any additional information regarding my purchase, nor have I received a shipping notification.5) This business has not tried to settle or resolve my problem. 6) Order# ******, Status Request# ******; no shipping/tracking number received 7) Desired Settlement: I would love to receive the product ordered since it was a Christmas gift. If this is not possible, I would like a full refund.

      I ordered 2 hoodies and 2 pair of sweatpants on November 24, 2023. It has been 5 weeks later and I still have not received any of my items and havent even received any tracking information or anything. I reached out to the customer service email and they told me that I need to reach out to their Instagram support page. I do not have an Instagram and I should not have to jump through all of these hoops just to find out where my order is and to get what I paid for. At this point I just want my money back.

      I placed an order on 12/21/22 for 3 sweaters; order #******. I paid a total of $120.00. I never received my order and I contacted the business directly multiple times via email. I received a response on 7/4/23 stating that I would receive my order yet I have not. I would like to receive my order or a refund. This is the 2nd time that I have not received an order I paid for with this company.

      I ordered a hoodie from *** back in May of 2023 and have yet to receive it. Interestingly enough, the brand is advertising the same red hoodie on its website, while I have yet to receive my order. Ive reached out several times via Instagram, email and the *** website and requested a refund. I too received generic messages and later was informed to go to Instagram to file a complaint which is absolutely ridiculous! I am both disheartened and disgusted by this company.
