    Pattern of Complaint:

    According to information in BBB files, Support Black Colleges has a pattern of complaint alleging Delivery and Refund Issues.

     

    Specifically, consumers alleged that they purchased items on Support Black Colleges' website, https://supportblackcolleges.org/, however, the items are never shipped nor received. Consumers further allege that they may receive a general response email with an update in reference to the delay of shipping but do not receive responses when they inquire about their specific product or shipping information.

     

    On February 2, 2021, BBB contacted Support Black Colleges to seek their voluntary cooperation in resolving the unanswered complaints as well as their cooperation in eliminating the pattern of complaint.



    On February 4, 2021, Support Black Colleges provided the following response to the pattern of complaint:



    "HOW WE GOT HERE
    Beginning around August 2020, a series of events led to us getting severely
    behind. Our overseas manufacturers who produce the patches for our most
    popular product, our signature adult hoodie, were closed down completely
    for several months due to COVID leaving us to only use what we had left
    and to try to find another vendor that could make the product exactly
    the same. This proved to not be possible and we simply had to wait. Our
    warehouse also suffered a massive flood that ruined many of the
    specialty items. These were pieces that we only made a limited number of
    and were not planning to produce more. Many of our customers were
    refunded. Our blank hoodie manufacturer also saw issues of their own, so
    there was limited availability for us to get what we needed.
    Simultaneously we were trying to use our funds in the way that made the
    most sense before they ran out while we were unable to run Facebook ads,
    they stopped us from being able to do so after the complaints began. We
    were able to hire a team to help us get out as many orders as possible
    and we were able to get in a somewhat decent position after that, but
    the orders continued to roll in. Over the course of these months we did
    the best we could to balance ordering merchandise, getting it produced,
    and shipping it out as quickly and as cost effectively as possible.
    During this time we felt it best to utilize all of the bodies we had to
    solely focus on getting orders filled and customer service became less
    of a priority, this includes responding to BBB complaints as well.
    Immediately once we fully realized the impact this was having we hired
    an overseas freelance rep to hop on emails as soon as possible, and our
    COO also went back to assisting with those as well.

    WHERE WE ARE NOW
    We are truly on the move! We were able to not only receive a PPP loan, but
    our new production facility can produce up to about 10,000 hoodies a
    week. Every day we ship out between 300-600 orders starting with the
    oldest ones from Black Friday. This will increase as we move into next
    week when the production facility gets the next batch complete! In
    addition to fully resuming answering individual customer service
    inquires, we have sent multiple email blasts with updates for customers
    and posted several posts and videos to our IG and Facebook pages with

    We've also sent individual updates to every single DM that comes through our IG.

    We can confidently say that we expect to be fully caught up by 02/13/2021.
    If for any reason we are not able to adhere to that another mass email
    and IG post will be sent."

    While Support Black Colleges did see a sharp decrease in complaints from June 2021 to November of 2021, their complaint totals increased significantly in the month of December 2021, and have been consistently increasing since then. The previously identified pattern of complaint involving delivery and refund issues appears to have returned.

      On Nov 28, 2022, cyber Monday, I purchased two hoodies and a T-shirt from this company. I have received several emails the first couple of months and then they went ghost unless I reached out. The emails were all the same with a generic apology and promised that my order was being expedited and I would receive confirmation of my order. I had gotten fed up after 3 months and requested a refund. I have inboxed them on Instagram to get a better response only to receive the same type of response. It has been over a year where they have drugged this out with no resolve. In the last response I was told that they would would reach out to me soon. That was in October 2023 and its December 2023.

      I placed an order for a hoodie on November 28, 2022. It is now December 13, 2023 and I still have not received the hoodie. I've been patient. I've sent emails and the emails are all a generic response talking about shipping delays and high order volumes. I got tired of waiting for a hoodie that I have a feeling will never come so I asked for a refund. When I asked for a refund they went completely ghost. They stopped responding to emails, if I wanted to hear from them again I would have to start a completely new ticket. Upon further research, I am not the only one who has had this problem with the company. My order number is #******.

      I am writing to file a formal complaint against Support Black Colleges regarding an ongoing issue with an order I placed with them.On November 25, 2022, I ordered two sweatshirts, followed by an additional order for one sweatshirt on November 28, 2022. To date, I have not received any of the three hoodie sweatshirts for which I have paid. Despite numerous follow-up emails, I have only received generic automated responses, offering no resolution or clarity on the status of my order.In an attempt to escalate the matter, I contacted Support Black Colleges directly, expressing my dissatisfaction and requesting a refund. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive any response from them.My concern is not only with the non-delivery of the items but also with the lack of communication and unresponsiveness from Support Black Colleges. As a customer and HBCU grad, I find this experience deeply disheartening, especially considering the company's alignment with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). It is disappointing to witness a business purportedly supporting HBCUs fall short of the principles these institutions stand for, particularly integrity.

      On 11/29/3022 I placed an order online for $135.00 and never received it, nor did I receive any updates regarding this order. I have reached out to the company several times regarding the order or a refund and all I get is excuses.

      I purchased a hoodie on January 7 2023 and to this day I still do not have the hoodie. I have reached out to this company so many times and all I ever get is empty promises. I told them if they could not fulfill my order I would like to get my money back. I used my debt card so it was too late to dispute the charges.

      I ordered a hoodie from Support Black Colleges on December 26, 2022. I have never received the item. I have been unsuccessful in my numerous email requests to either receive my order or to be provided a refund. I only receive automated, generic email replies with no actionable follow-up. It has been 8 months. I have reached out to them on their Instagram and text to ************** as well, and get no response. I am extremely displeased and want my money back. You can see the number of email exchanges over the months from December 2022 to August 2023 in the attached document and my screenshot of the order. Please provide some support on this matter because it is robbery.

      I placed an order with SBC on Nov 25, 2022 after viewing an instagram post regarding new inventory. The post assured that the merchandise was produced and ready for shipping. After several weeks with no updates I reached out and was told there was a production issue that caused the delay. On Dec 29, 2022 I received an email stating my order was preparing to ship and that I would receive tracking info within ***** hours. I never received tracking info, my order or any other communication regarding the status until I emailed again for an update. Ive reached out for updates every month since inquiring on the status, only to receive generic responses each time apologizing for the inconvenience and delay. After several weeks going by and finally receiving a email answer, I would wait. Finally, I requested a refund around May 2023 only to be told that my request for a refund is approved and being reviewed. It is now September of 2023 and I have not received my refund or update. I have emailed every month since June 2023. **************** has stopped responding to my emails and I have not received a refund.
