My name is ***** *******. I took my 2009 **** ****** to Butler Automotive ** **** *********** ** ******** *** ***** for a tune up. My car had a slight uneasy shift in it. High idle. It had a oil pan gasket leak. It needed to get the transmission fluid checked . I know because another mechanic looked at it and said it needed some transmission fluid . He couldn't take the time to do it. I asked Butler Automotive to simply check these . Mr. Jimmie S****** called my aunt who is 93 years old and told her a lot. She didn't really know what he was talking about about. She just agreed with him to have a lot more unnecessary work done on my car. He never called me and told me anything. 3 days later when I picked up my car my Aunt paid $1852.79. She wasn't even able to write out the check. Mr Jimmie S****** did . He assured her and me that the car was running good now. I was in shock when I got the car and started driving home. It wouldn't even make it up my drive way. It cut off and was smoking and smelled of burning something. Butler Automotive had to come out my car on a flat bed tow the very next morning. When I got the car back and started driving again, it wasn't running right . I eventually had to get Butler Automotive to come and put my car on a flat bed tow. 3 days later I went to get my car and I was told that I would need a new transmission sensor. Mr Jimmie S****** told me to just drive the car carefully and not to drive out of town. When I started driving I realized the car wasn't getting and power and it didn't want to accelerated when started to go at light. It hesitated for 2-3 seconds before it would even move. It had no speed and it definitely wouldn't change into the gears. It jerked and idle real high. I could drive over 30 miles an hour. This past Monday, July 22, 2024 my car completely stalled in the middle of a busy intersection. It wouldn't crank at all. I had to call Butler Automotive and ask Mr.Jimmie S****** what to do.

This is in regards to my complaint against Butler Automotive ** *********** *** ******** *** ******  I spoke with the manager Mr. N***. He told me that the car now, had an internal engine problem and would require a new engine. That was going to cost me $8000. He said he would give me credit for the amount I have already paid him. $1859.  He said the car doesn't run now. I could tell him where to tow the car and leave it if I didn't want to pay for a new engine.  My car was driving pretty darn well considering it needed a tune up when I first drove it there. It never was drivable after I left it for a tune up. I need to know why I had to be charged so money and now the car won't even run. What am I supposed to do now without my car. They just took my money and now I'm completely out of a vehicle. I need to be reimbursed for my car. I am a disabled handicapped woman living by myself and I depended on my car for medical appointments and other necessary appointments. I can't walk very good and I require physical help getting around. Please help me with getting my car fixed or either replacement of my vehicle. Taking my transportation away from me and also charging me such $1859 is wrong .  My car was driving ok except for just a tune up. Now, it won't drive and will have to be towed from Butler Automotive to be left . I need some answers please .  Thank you. .***** ******* .

We contacted Ms. ******* and offered to refund 1000.00 We are still waiting on her response We did not perform any internal repairs. We were not negligent in any manner. Obviously, she did not benefit from some of the service work we performed due to the timing chain failure, so we offered to refund all of the monies for maintenance and some fo the repair work that we performed With kindest regards     Eddie Butler

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Even though I am dissatisfied with the fact that the car ran before I took it there.

    Sincerely,

On July 8th 2024, my car overheated, I called the tow truck and it was towed to Butler Automotive Service. I called the next day early before 9:00 am. I spoke with the Manager Darrin. I asked how much for a diagnostic check and he told me that it was $179.00. After the diagnostic check, I was informed that it would cost $1400.00 to replace a thermostat and the water pump. I started to get it done but I changed my mind. I was told that because they started to do the work, when I called and told them not to do the work they charged me $399.00. But on the receipt it stated diagnostic checked. Overheating should be one diagnostic check. They added an estimate to replace a thermostat and water pump when that estimation should have been in the original estimation in the $179.00 estimation. This should not be a separate estimation \

We did diagnose the vehicle. Once authorization was received, we commenced repairs. We stopped as soon as the customer retracted her authorization. Eddie Butler
