We decided to hire True Measure LLC of ********* and *********** (owned by *****************) as general contractor for a large addition project after having them successfully complete two small renovations for us. The scope of the addition project was significantly more complex but ***************** reassured us that he could do an addition of this size in ***** months (including the design process) and it would be high quality. He also promised to stay within budget and be better than other contractors I have worked with. Unfortunately, nothing went as expected. It took 21 months from signing the contract to the final inspection, and even after the final inspection there were still things that had not been completed. The project was 30% over budget. Things such as light fixtures and plumbing fixtures which are REQUIRED for a final inspection were excluded. ***************** was dishonest time after time about what was happening, even when asked directly about why there were delays. When subcontractors were used there was no quality control occurring that one would expect a general contractor to be doing. There was also a complete and utter lack of respect for our property and wellbeing during the project. The only time plastic sheeting went up was when we put it up ourselves to protect our personal items from dust and our two asthmatic children from health issues. By the time the final inspection happened we were done and wanted ***************** out of our lives. I would never recommend ***************** or his company True Measure to anyone for any sort of project after this experience. This is not my first large construction project, so I have been through some of the issues we encountered and was even anticipating some of them. But *** never had any of the contractors weve worked with outright lie to my face or fail to produce a quality final project. All previous projects were worth the hassle, this one unfortunately was not, not with the level of problems that we had to deal with.
