My PCP referred me to Resurgens for a joint injury. I was refused an appointment because of a past balance I was unaware of. I asked the representative, "Is this a refusal of medical care?" She said, "YES!" To know that a healthcare provider will refuse a patient service due to their inability to pay a hospital bill is scary. I would not entrust my life and safety in the hands of a medical physician or facility that refuses to render service to a patient in pain because of MONEY. Resurgens I hope this is not your policy, if so it's a dangerous policy. Just the thought of being rushed to a hospital (Resurgens) with a life-threatening emergency only to be told we can't treat you because you have an outstanding bill, you are not aware of, is SCARY! This has uncovered the reality of our healthcare system in the **. This is also another reason that people go outside the country for medical procedures. RESURGENS DO BETTER IN SERVING THE COMMUNITY!Business response

It is Resurgens policy to schedule patients, regardless of an outstanding balance. Unfortunately, we are unable to identify this individual based on the information provided in order to further investigate this complaint.

The surgical center, which is a separate entity from Resurgens, cancelled the patient's initial procedure. Resurgens does not manage or staff that facility. The patient has now been re-scheduled for the procedure. Unfortunately, due to HIPAA, we cannot provide further details.
Sincerely,

As a healthcare professional, Resurgens Orthopedics in *******, GA is the worst!! They advise that they provide services that they know they dont provide to trick you into making an appointment for disability paperwork. At appointment check-in they reconfirmed that they do disability work, which was the reason for the appointment. Then the nurse practitioner talks to you, gives same meds you already have from emergency room 2 days prior, but does NOT do disability paperwork the only reason for appointment. I tried to reach her attending physician but told he refuses disability paperwork after 2 hour wait. So why did they tell me to come to have my disability paperwork done there??I had to wait there 2 hrs and I was unable to walk or work after accident, and no disability paperwork performed. They billed BOTH my insurances and sent me to collections this month! They were paid over $440 by my 2 insurances and sent me to collections for $153.69!! $153.69 was paid on 12/15/2021 to Resurgens conf#******, to remove unreasonable collections resently received. I would like $153.69 refund since disability paperwork services appointment only made for, not performed; although their records proved that I was unable to walk or work at that time.Business response

To Whom it May ******************** you for allowing Resurgens Orthopaedics to respond to the BBB complaint made by a patient with respect to an appointment at our ******* office on August 9, 2019. We regret that the patient was unhappy with the care she received. However, the charges for the visit was for medical care and services which were provided to the patient in an appropriate manner. The charges were not for the completion of disability forms, but for an in-office medical visit. The patient presented to our office after sustaining a fall while skating. She reported right hip and thigh pain. The provider reviewed a ** scan and x-rays which were done at an outside facility. The x-rays showed no fracture or dislocation, and the ** showed nonspecific "indistinct and edematous appearance of the right hamstring muscle with associated fat stranding and free fluid- may reflect muscular injury/tear." In other words, the ** was inconclusive. The provider took a thorough history, performed a physical exam, and ordered an MRI to further evaluate whether the patient had a hamstring tear or not. An MRI provides a more detailed image than ** or x-ray. The provider also prescribed an anti-inflammatory and pain medication. The provider did not complete the disability forms as requested because the provider had not actually diagnosed the issue, and therefore, could not, in good faith, conclude that the patient was disabled. Neither the x-rays nor the ** scan showed an acute injury. Thus, our provider ordered an MRI to further assess the injury. However, the patient did not return after this one visit. Our providers do complete disability forms for patients when they believe, based on their independent medical judgment, that the patient is disabled. In this case, the provider was unable to come to that conclusion based on the information she had. Therefore, the provider declined to complete the form. For the reasons stated above, we are denying the patient's request for a refund. Please let me know if I can provide further information or explanations regarding this patient.

Dear Better Business Bureau of *******,I was referred to Resurgens ******* from Northside Forsyth Emergency Room for my UNUM Short term Disability Paperwork to be completed. I was in excruciating pain from my right hamstring tear which was documented in the ** pelvis CT, which Resurgens ******** received as documented. The Resurgens Nurse Practitioner even stated in her note that I was unable to walk. In addition to imaging, Northside Forsyth **s documentation also clearly stated that I was unable to walk. Resurgens ******* refused to provide me as their patient any temporary note of disability, or complete the disability paperwork which was the ONLY reason I went to Resurgens. After hours of waiting, the nurse practitioner of ***************************************************, said that they may email me my disability papers, however they never did. I even called back and they refused me any notes or paperwork of disability. I was not able to drive and my children were too young to drive to continue this game with them. I already had pain medicine from the emergency room, but the nurse practitioner insisted on calling in an anti-inflammatory medication after viewing my swollen and very bruised thighs. I could get anti-inflammation medication over-the-counter, without a prescription; and being a physician, I have friends who can call in anti-inflammation medications for me. It takes a professional evaluation of the patient to do disability paperwork.
?? If ********************** did not feel comfortable doing my disability paperwork because he had not personally examined me, he should NOT have billed me because the services I needed. The only services I went there for were NOT rendered, and I had repeatedly been promised that they would do my disability paperwork before I bothered to go to Resurgens *******.
That is the only reason I went to Resurgens *******, and they were well aware of it and they terribly failed me.
It was unsafe for me to drive and continue to pursue this so I ended out taking a loan to cover my expenses for the next several months that I was unable to work. Resurgens refused me the care I needed, but they did not refuse to aggressively **** both of my insurance companies for which they received over $400 for see below, but then they put me in collections December 2021 knowing that I was unable to work. I had called their Office manage repeatedly that I was unable to work and had to have hip replacement surgery on December 20, 2020 due to this injury, and they still put me in collections for $153 in December 2021.
Resurgens ******** behavior was grossly unacceptable, unprofessional, and I would like them to refund the $153 that I should never have been charged due to their failure to provide the services I came for, and desperately needed from them as their patient.
Most Sincerely,*******************
Sincerely,
