We are a church in **********. The City of Duluth wanted the church to demolish a small **** sq ft structure that has been vacant for a long time. We found David ************ Enterprises along with several other demolition contractors from the BBB listing. After getting estimates from 4 companies, we contracted with David ************ on 8/10/2021 with a written contract to demolish and completely remove all debris from the project site. He required us to pay him a $5,000 deposit to rent equipment. He cashed the church check on 8/10/2021 and did not show up when he told us that he would start that week. After calling and asking many times, he finally came on 9/2/2021 to partially breakdown the structure. He has not returned since. He blocked the church contact person's phone. So we had another person from the church call him in late September and he said that he would finish by mid October or give us money back. We sent him a certified letter asking for money back if he cannot finish the job. He has not sent the money back and when we called him, he said that he doesn't have any money or any work. In the meantime, the project site is a safety hazard to the community, let alone a sightly mess. The City of Duluth is checking up weekly and we are working with them to resolve this trouble. We have all documentation by email and text messaging as well as call records.
